Jdesign
Same here! What about that E9!! I dont care about the M5 much. Are they really going for $15k with over 200k on the clock though?!

You couldn't get a decent m5 for less than $15k - $20k when I was looking 4 years ago and they were all over 100k miles.
stealthbimmer
On a similar note, sad to see this one go to the vultures. Wonder what took it off the road. Im going to assume he blew the motor. https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/d/part-out-bmw-m5-dinanmiles/6441464931.html B C and Jdesign

stealthbimmer
Yeesh. 7k for an e38 with over 225k. I know its cool with the manual swap and all, but I could find a better way to spend that kind of coin.
Jdesign
I second that. It seems to be exceptionally clean though.
P_Roloff
Yeah, definitely more than I’d pay. Maybe if it had 100k fewer miles.
RobZR
Nice swap, but the price is sky high for a rustbelt cosmetic basket case. @235k its due for another refresh of everything. and no reference of timing chain guides being done. all the effort of the swap to start with a basket case. Nice E38's are so cheep now, Why swap this one. If you are going to swap one pick one of these. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/d/2001-bmw-740i-sport-package-6/6451741560.html https://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/d/2001-bmw-740i-sport-royalrot/6407856014.html https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/d/2001-bmw-740i-sport-rare-color/6443553182.html https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/d/2001-bmw-740i-actual-78k/6445927095.html Edited January 10, 2018 by RobZR links added

It makes sense if you don't want to deal with putting a roof rack on.

I've done roof racks before for bikes, but they are subject to road debris, mileage takes a massive slash, and loading bikes onto a roof isn't all that convenient. m42b32
You'd think they would've used e28 or early model e30 taillights or something given that it was a BMW shop that built it, they're a similar shape too.
