DrLeadFoot
HAHA Back on topic...for now. Out with the old, in with the new!!Brand new S54 oil housing on the left, S52 on the right.Just ordered the 14mm to 12mm Vanos banjo bolt from VAC Motorsports. That housing takes up so much room! Rowleym
any reason you didn't use something like the champion oil filter relocation with a thermostat? Not real sure about the benefits of s54 housing, though. I just love the look of a hidden oil filter haha.

Earl
Going to spray the back portion of the gauge black to make it more incognito? Looks like you did a very tidy job cutting=)

DrLeadFoot
Yes, I will. I have to figure out how to secure it in there. The spindle that came with it is too big. a bunch of electrical tape? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Earl
Dab of silicone on the top and bottom where it touches the vent? DrLeadFoot
YoungCR
Or just hot glue, firm but easy to get off if needed.

CMart
I can't 100% tell how it is sitting, but if you are looking to secure it from the back maybe a black hose clamp?
Bassboy3313
I would even think a piece of hose (or PVC pipe maybe) that has the same ID as the OD of the gauge. Slip it over the gauge up to the front. It could pinch the vent ribs between the gauge lip and the hose, applying even pressure hold around the entire gauge. Just a thought. It is pretty tight in there after sanding the upper and lower to make the gauge fit. I might use some of that interior tar that I used to hold on the inner door plastic. Simple, black and I can remove it if I need to with ease. Unless TCD aka "Captain Velcro" wants to share the knowledge. - Ordered this guy. http://jbperf.com/dual_VR/v2_1.html ^Traction control!!!! - Received my VAC 12 to 14mm vanos bolt. - Got the tiling done in the bathroom surround. Need to tile the floor, drop off the wet table saw and pick up my air compressor so I can blow out the head bolt threads in the block. - Ready to finish my Megasquirt wiring. Need to figure out how to wire up the traction control still. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

DrLeadFoot
Popped on the S54 oil filter housing and the power steering. Torqued everything down with loc-tite. I cleaned out the threads in the block for the head bolts then I starting reading that people prep their block with a honing stone before they install the CES cut-ring head gasket. Should I do this? Thoughts? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
GunMetalGrey
I didn't know ECS made a gasket as well.I am running a similar setup, and from what I was seeing most people that surface the block with a stone haven't had the block decked before. Like myself!

GunMetalGrey
I bought the same gasket, and also bought a copper spacer for my setup.I did do the stone/sandpaper because mine had never been done. It actually worked pretty well. In your case I would grab a straight bar and some feeler gauges and find out if anything is not straight. tsweers89
Grab a straight edge and check. Also post up on bimmerforums FI section asking for help prepping the block. Many different methods. May be a better method for the cut ring. DrLeadFoot
