The Range will, by far, be the most unreliable vehicle of the 3.  The Cayenne would be the most fun of the bunch but prepare your butthole for the cost of basic repairs.  I was shocked the first time I worked on one, we did front pads and rotors (with parts from the dealer) and it was over $1000 in parts.  Our labor to install the parts was only $60.  I'm sure you can find cheaper parts but from what I've seen, nothing is cheap on those.
The X5's are awesome.  While I was in the shop I set up a few of these with hitch and wiring kits.  I remember one specifically on a 2nd gen Alpine White X35d with fewer than 2k miles that the guy picked up off the line in South Carolina.  He had me take it from Waukesha to Concours when I was done with it to have different aero put on.  I know he said he planned on hauling his boat and jet ski's with it.  I had a 3rd gen X5xdrive35i as a loaner from Zimbrick when my turbo's were getting done and that thing was a blast!  I drove it around 1500 miles while we had it with my longest drive going from Janesville to Eau Claire and back.
We were seriously considering an X5 for my wife but she fell in love with the Volvo XC90.

More often than not I can use my electric impact for the job.  When I can't then I use a regular ratchet.  If it requires a ratchet then there's a large possibility I wouldn't be able to fit a pneumatic or cordless ratcheting wrench in the space.  I don't think I've ever had a problem with the hose being in the way, it's always been a matter of space with the tool.

not a great improvement visually, but the hood latches now, so it's more fuctional. Tied the core support to a tree with a big strap and backed up a couple times, so that was fun. Driving from West Bend to Appleton and back with no heat, however, was not fun.

well, bad news is I decided to sell all the suspension parts I got. So I recouped my 2800 bucks. Because I will not be tracking my 135i ever again.
The Good news is.......shipping out at the end of January  

Kummrow quoted me about $1300 to install (thanks Andy) but I don't really want to spend that so it's gonna happen in my garage, in the middle of February. I'm banking on El Nino to help me out with garage temps.

I figured this would be interesting. We all love bmw's, thats for sure. But are there any cars that you own, or want, that are non bmw? 
 
Ill start. Always wanted one ever since I was a kid, I always loved the box looking flares, yet its a sedan that has all the practicality one would need. Very easy to work on, very affordable, and I can make it INCREDIBLY fast, and handle very well all in one package, yet drive it every single day (AWD). 
 

I Don't know, but I installed this over the weekend.  1 man job.  Not powered yet.  Been a dream of mine since I was about 16 to have my own lift.  
 

 
Getting the shed cleaned up for electric, lights, big outlet drops to be run.  Getting much closer to functional!

The only cure is hitting rock bottom with a major failure, and rehab. The problem is the addiction is still there, and so are all of your old friends, begging you to back to the life style you wished you could leave. It takes over your life, and empties your bank account. You realize that there is no cure, just temporary abstinence. Turbos will consume you, and your wallet. 

For our honeymoon we wanted to explore Italy but I figured we could swing by the BMW museum and do a quick stop in Munich to have a beer and see the sights. 

Our travel agent set us up to see the museum on Monday, the day we landed in Germany.  Long story short the museum is closed on Mondays.  Not just the Monday that we were there but EVERY MONDAY!  Depression and stress ensued until we figured out that we had a 2 hour window before we departed on Wednesday to view the museum!

So I am way long overdue for an update. I started the Swap and will post pics and such in the next few days. In the meantime I am curious if anyone has some good input on booster-less brake setup or converting their E30 to run a smaller brake booster. 

Don't LS swap it. I want to line up N/A V8 vs turbo 6.

Now that would be a good candidate for that swap=P I like this car being BMW powered and making whistling noises though haha

I've done threads about bolt-on mods, clutch install, janky H&R springs, and other random happenings. SO now i'm making a single thread like most reasonably intelligent people do that houses everything about what happens to my car from this point forward!
 
Is my car a track car or a street monster in the making? Who knows, that's the fun! Hallway Pat thinks I'm stupid and I'm gonna ruin my car, but what does he know !? He drives a 5-ton boat anchor with no LSD and faulty n54 fuel injectors so nobody cares what he thinks! bwahaha

Turbo plans temporarily shelved - nabbed this brand new set of kW clubsports for $2k shipped, couldn't pass up the deal. Had to throw in M3 bits for the front and some rear subframe bushings to complete the package. I'm into this setup for 2800 bucks which is pretty damn good considering the retail price on just the clubsports alone is 3200. 
 

 
I've got stainless lines and decent track pads, so up next will likely be Stoptech rotors and replacing my brake caliper pistons. Before Spring I will be grabbing some apex arc-8 wheels and handing my car over to Big Bear Tire to see what kind of fitment options I have for a square tire setup for the track after they adjust suspension.

Well, it's that time again...
 
Time to rip a bunch of stuff apart, spend half the winter with my hands saturated in engine degreaser, and maybe put it all back together in time to have some fun next summer.
 
This years plan is to do coilovers, wheels and tires, and a little bodywork. If there's time, I might start working on that turbo I keep saying I'm going to do...
 
So far I've built a shelving unit/workbench,

and sized up some borrowed 225/45/15s.
 

 
I'm thinking I'll weld on some flares off a mark one vw golf, but not 100% sure about that yet. Should be fun!

i settled on some bmw coasters.  scale models of BMWs with the m60 engine are hard to find (1:18 scale, particularly, but 1:24 too) no 840 or 540 models, boo.
 
not sure if this is a real BMW part number, but they sure seem quality and are never used.
 

I think I would pooh my pants just to have a stock Exige.
