KaiserRolls
Ordered some seat brackets/sliders the other day, finally got them installed. In case anyone is curious about the corbeau fitment... I went with double locking, a miata brooke sold had the single locking sliders, biggest crap ever - the double are much smoother and don't have as much "slop" I bought The gf's old fx1 pros And in Overall slider are nice, just could've desperately used some more careful finishing work. The bolts for the rear of the brackets are in a spot where you can't get a ratchet on them because they did not remove enough material above the hole. So you get to turn a wrench a 16th of a turn for 3 hours and get carpal tunnel The sliders actuate smoothly and the range of motion fits someone who could be 6'4"ish down to someone 5'5"ish I did notice that the drivers seat seems to not be centered on the wheel if that makes sense. Slightly to the left. Doesn't bug me, just going to try and adjust it on the brackets a touch. The fx1 pro has a fairly wide span in the shoulders and these just barely touch the door cards, as far as I can tell it's a non issue Overall decent stuff that could've been finished better, but still worth not having to make brackets from scratch and repurpose some 28 year old sliders (had Miata flashbacks and decided it was money well spent) I realize side mounts to the floor would be better, but I plan on having co-drivers at autox's & figured sliders would be handy for that & just regular summer daily tasks Also put the repacked axle back in & put the rear wheels on, figured it would motivate me...I still need to put some black paint on the calipers.... KaiserRolls
Just realized it's basically been monthly updates of what is essentially tightening 23 bolts/nuts, I need to get a move on......

Jdesign
Those seats look good in there. I noticed in my own car and believe I read somewhere that the steering column isn't exactly centered to the seat of E30s from the factory. Had to check.....http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=278956 KaiserRolls

KaiserRolls
As a part of the CES cut ring install, last night I refinished the block. Used the coarse/fine sides of the stone. Tons of brake cleaner, wd-40, lacquer thinner, rags and beer. Biggest thing I found was keeping the stone and block clean and well lubed. As soon as the WD started to change colors, the stone didn't seem to "cut" anymore. Plugged up the cylinders as best as I could with plastic and tape, oil and coolant passages will be brake cleaned and flushed to death. This is what I started with:(only crappy pic I took before hand) And this is what I ended with One step closer inazupra, Bassboy3313, wasnt m3 and 3 others

KaiserRolls
Power steering is back in. Can't wait for that shit to leak everywhere. The e36 line design is absolutely annoying This rack was powered when I was m50, until I dumped the s50 into the car, then I ditched the PS. It's been manual for a season-ish. Hopefully there aren't any surprises going back to power Here's to not trying to break my steering column in parking lots & being able to turn quickly at low speeds. Jdesign
If you want to run a manual rack but dont want the struggles and aesthetics of popeye, maybe consider a Z4 manual rack.

KaiserRolls
I've ran it PS-less for a year and at a few events. It wasn't a "ftw" type of feeling. Bottom line PS is nice to have
Bassboy3313
That's because a PS rack without the PS is no bueno. BUT a manual rack that is made to not have PS is ftw! The e21 has a manual rack and I love it.
B C
Quick steering Easy steering Gobs of cornering grip Pick 2 Manual racks are fine but fighting some grippy front tires in a sudden countersteer maneuver is something id rather have power steering for. He actually licked it clean, while saying something about "practice for upcoming wibimmer meets". I think there is cause for concern.
