"But now with three kids...yeah haha"

Been a while since I've seen a Craigslist-esque train wreck ad.

F30 update. New wheels and tires.
    VMR V801
    19x9.5 ET35 square
    255/35R19 Falken FK510
Really love how these look and how much it improved the cars overall appearance. Enough show that they look good, but also subdued enough that look OEM+ ish. Think they are very reminiscent of the F80 MX snowflake wheels.
Could be a little lower, but I think got daily purposes, this is pretty good. I think the fitment is about as good as you can get it, fills out the wheel well and is just at the fender.
This has made me look at this car as more than just A to B transportation again. Some other big updates coming soon that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.

    And thats a wrap! (Almost)
The car runs and drives, after 5 hard working days! Things swapped were, S54 (OBVI), m3 fuel tank with pumps/lines, m3 cooling system, m3 DME, etc etc.
If anyone has any questions about the swap, please feel free to ask, I would love to help. It was very hard gathering all of the things needed to make this work and I want to help spread the word on whats all necessary.
the last problem I have to sort out is an o2 issue. I believe I have the ordering wrong, and am going to look into that tonight as the car is getting misfires on 1-3 and lean/rich codes.
I do have the air duct for the radiator support, just need to grab some clips for it.

    It lives.
Charged the battery up and dropped it last night after work, started right up.
Drove it up and down the street just to stretch it out a little bit. In dire need of a wash and probably a little air in the tires.
Probably need to have a valve adjustment done this spring, sounded a little ticky. Or the oil just hadn't circulated entirely from starting for the first time in 6 months.
Back into the storage until it's nice out full time.

Forums will always be the superior version of car internet communication. As others have stated, the format just works better for searching and documenting things compared to the comment style of Facebook. While there is no financial "barriers of entry", because you have to sign up and use a site that is not the one you are using for the other things(i.e. Facebook), deters the majority of people. Everyone wants everything to be a quick, one stop, "Amazon" style experience regardless of what the medium or product is now.

While I wouldn't classify it as "work", you have to put in the effort to get to this site and actually utilize it, and people are lazy. In regards to the community size, would it be nice to have a higher retention rate and more people posting on here? Yes. But if you look at any FB group, just like anything else, the more people that use it, the quality goes down.
This forum is also largely seasonal, because it is a local forum, we are confined to the weather.

    UPDATE!
Finished up the charger to oil filter housing bracket mods.

Then painted it along with the power steering resiviour bracket.

Also got in the upper radiator hose adapter from ICT billet.

    and installed.

I also got in my clamps, the manifold vacuum fitting, the line for those fittings, and a section of 3/8 silicone hose plus my German Auto Solutions coolant cap came in.

Drilled and tapped the manifold for this DOT push loc fitting and then routed the hose from the recirc valve to the manifold.
Really excited for how this worked out, too bad no one will see it hahahha.

I then cut the section of 3/8 silicone into sections to act as couplers with the hardline I bent up for the vacuum to the booster. Just waiting on some more clamps to come in, because you know I forgot to get these ones lol.

Next I wanted to see how the HELL the headlight was supposed to fit with the intake. The way the kit came had a 45" coupler off the main intake and then the maf attached to that followed by a plastic piece that went from the maf to the filter.
I dont have pictures but theres no way I was jamming that behind the headlight and pinching and pushing things around. Not to mention I have Xenon headlights so the ballast would need to be "moved". I have a solution for that once the parts come I will.share that!
So here is what I came up with for the intake.

I stepped the main intake tube down to a 3" then used a aluminum 45° to get past the back of the headlight. Then stepped back from 3" to 3.5" to the MAF and then the MAF straight to the filter.
I have a sock for the filter to keep water off as well as I made this splash sheild.
Started as a good ole CAD template.

Then cut it out of some plastic sheet.

Once I formed it to the corner to mount it I added some supports of aluminum.

Pretty happy with the outcome especially considering I used what I had. We will see how well it performs.
And finally I got everything in to add my under hood lights. 😎
I wrapped all the wiring in the same flexo stuff I use on the engine and chassis harness, and then routed it through the ribs on the hood.

I added a switch similar to the switch for the tire sprayer but it is an on/off rather than a momentary switch.

And here it is all lit up! Really hyped to see it once it's on the ground with the underglow on too 😁😎

Thats about it for now, waiting on a few more parts. (Seems to be the usual latley lol)
More updates as parts roll in!

    The E30 has racing pedigree.
It’s the same automatic, bronzit paint, and comfort seats used in the DTM racecars.
If you cant appreciate a racecar tamed for the streets then get a Daihatsu.

Almost spring update!   Took advantage of the warm weather this weekend and tackled the suspension upgrade...
Fortune Auto coilovers (thanks @KaiserRolls), new control arms, lollipops, poly bushings, and end links.  Should be a huge improvement over the 35 year old suspension bits.

Unfortunately, my original Racing Dynamics strut bar doesn’t fit because the adjustment knob on the coilovers hits the center support.  I’ll put it on the wife’s convertible, and figure out which one to purchase for my car.
Hopefully this weather will continue and I’ll get her on the road soon!
