I've been in the zone lately, spending 8-14 hours a day getting my 318 ready for sale. Been feeling very accomplished, but that car would be done 5x over if I had one of my Cleveland car buddies local.

They're awesome. A few friends and I have been using them for years. They actually custom made me braided stainless brake lines for much less than you could buy them anywhere. I need to see them soon to have power steering lines made as well.

I've had custom lines done at Hartland Service. Excellent job, done right while I waited, and very good prices.

PM me - this would be a great addition to your setup. You can print on the vinyl you cut then transfer that to a plotter and cutout anything you want. Think fatheads.

You own a mechanic shop right?
You really need to work on your delivery/interpersonal skills.

I feel like you're hovering over waiting for the "I told you so" moment. If you were to offer basic help here and there I would recommend people to your shop and might even take my car to you when I don't have time to do the work myself.
However, by responding they way you did and sounding like you're on your high horse, the way you do time and time again, I will never refer you any business. I will thank you for reigniting the fire for me to complete the job myself.

    Here is your statement:
Wait so you installed a new clutch and pressure plate or clutch disc? If you did a whole new clutch and pressure plate you need to run through the clutch break in procedure and clutch wear point test plan as well. If you did just a clutch disc then they clutch plate would need to be reset as with all e46s its a self adjusting clutch so you need to special tool to turb back the springs when isntalling. Eitherway unfortunately this is what happens in the enthusiast world when guys think they can work on it all themselves on vehicles/systems they know nothing about. Hate to see it but I see it often.
Here is what you could have said:

Say what you want, but if want more business don't treat people (potential customers) like morons, whether you think they are or not. I for one wouldn't come to your shop or recommend you regardless of your pricing, quality, or turn around.

another nice saturday means another project done.
installed my George Graves USB charging port. Great product. (you can find them on r3v)
install instructions plus my diagrams from the ETM. you can use the ACC wire from the radio, but i didnt want to fuss with pulling the radio. when i did my 5 speed swap i ended up with the x511 connector (from the auto trans shifter) free under the shift console, so i looked up which pins might work there. Pin 1 is hot in run and start (perfect), and pin 3 was grounded. Pin 5 was possibly a ground in the ETM (i'm a little slow comprehending the ETM), but there was no wire there on the car.

my x511 adapter harness (which has my reverse light wires at pin 6/7) and the new pin 1/3 wires added. (top right, and top middle)

the USB port comes installed into a factory switch blank (he was nice enough to use an e34 one for me). now i have my AUX input and charger together.

Used the INPA software to bleed the clutch and gearbox shifter. Ran the programs and it went into R & 1. Got excited then went to start it and it fired up on the 2nd crank!!!!!

I've got my dealer looking for an 05/06 cayenne turbo.
Carbon interior package and hopefully the tow package already installed.
If I'm going to get bad sub mileage I might as well have some fun while I'm at it.

Not a biased opinion because I've driven multiple generations of those three SAV's but the X5 xDrive35D would be my 1st choice or 2nd a xDrive35i with a tune. Two  managers at concours have have or had diesel X5's they frequently towed 12ft enclosed trailers with hauling sleds and bikes.
Out of those three the most reliable I feel would be the BMW too. If in the budget, a facelift 2nd gen X5 2008+? Would be my choice because of the enhanced interior and better iDrive system. Even then the X5 interiors aren't anything special but they are comfortable and functional. Some even have the 3rd row seat option.
Cayenne turbo's are very nice, probably my favorite out of the three to drive but I don't think it would make for a reliable tow vehicle. Rovers are nice too but having driven low mileage examples to the dealer for repairs just from sitting on the sales lot eliminates them for reliability.
None of these vehicles had factory tow packages per say that I know of but transmission coolers should be standard and factory tow hitches were a dealer installed option. Keep in mind the ~6k towing capacity.
In the end though pick something you can be happy with driving everyday. If you don't do much towing at all they all can get away with occasional towing. Test drive all 3 to form your own opinions.
