Narcosis
I made a round trip to Chicago this week and was surprised at the MPG I got with cruise set at 80. 26.2 on the way down and 26.6 on the way back, my average for 70% town 30% highway driving is around 18. Brian.
My E28 got about the same! Now I average 17, city/highway/15,000lb trailer!
jc43089
1700 miles to Alabama and back with the e30 vert, 22-23mpg without ethanol, 20-21 with e10. The 4.10 differential is not good after the manual swap. My e36 averages about 28mpg.
YoungCR
34-36 is what I got in the 528e from what I can remember. The E36 318is was pretty similar too. In town average I could get 26 if I was good.19.1 is my best in the suburban, 17.8 is average.
6670charger
My E30 does about the same. Not all bad considering how old the car is, and that many new cars don't do much better.
jockhater2
My E21 320i always averages 17 city and 23 hwy. My motorcycle has consistently averaged 57.8 since I have bought it and put 1500mi on it.
Ryan...
My first full tank netted me an overall average of 26.6 mpg. That's with the first 80 miles consisting of a short city drive to the hwy, 13 miles total to/from work. My hwy trip had two passengers and a fully loaded car (set of 17" wheels/snow tires, passenger luggage etc..). So, I'm hoping/guessing that 28-30 is achievable with just me and the open road. Narcosis
So bottom line is that my mpg sucks. With that said, I've always preferred mph over mpg...

I love my E39
When I got the e39 the gauge read 31.4 MPG. I have no idea how the previous owner got that good of mpgs. The best I ever got was 27.8 Mpg before the 02 went out. Now o average about 20.6 MPG mainly city running 93 or with 91 no ethanol. I do have an 18.5 gallon gas tank so the mpg doesnt matter to much with that size tank Sent from my LG-LS970 using Tapatalk
Earl
I would venture to say that the e34 (525i, non vanos m50) gets around 27 mpg average and about 23-25 mpg in town. The compact (318ti, m42) was getting about 34-36 mpg average with it being around 30 mpg in town. I was running 93 octane minimum in the compact due to the Midnight Tuning chip and I run mid-grade in the e34. I almost always only fill up at Shell since it seems to run the best and get the best mileage=)
patsbimmer1
I pretty consistently avg 24-25 mpg with mostly city driving. When I drove to Louisville averaging 80-90 mph I cranked out 26.3 mpg and 30.4 mpg on the way back averaging 75 mph. It's amazing what a hangover will do for your mpg's... BMWben
I just got a new record at 22.2 mpg with the V8! I probably drive 70% highway though. Really isn't that bad but the premium gas is killer I love my E39

REKIII
I got 13.5 all the way to, and back from, Columbus Ohio in the Jeep this weekend. Usually get around 11 city. Oh yeah!!!
Earl
I filled up with premium Saturday. I am wondering how much better or worse my mileage is. With mid-grade it seems my timing was being retarded. The car feels much better now=)
damnboy037
Mine is horrible, I should be getting 32-36 (used to get this on my last 99, maybe it had a better tune?), but getting around 20 right now. Good thing I drive it about 10 miles a week.
