Earl
I'm trying to decide on the shade of silver for the faces on my next wheels. Which one of these do you think would be best? http://www.powderbuythepound.com/SPACE_INVADER_SILVER/ http://www.powderbuythepound.com/BONDED_VIKING_STAINLESS_STEEL/ http://www.powderbuythepound.com/DARK-WHEEL-SILVER/ http://www.powderbuythepound.com/BONDED_STARDUST_SILVER_SPARKLE/
YoungCR
Which one of these do you think would be best? Space Invader silver because of the name or the dark wheel silver. I like both.
Earl
I like the dark wheels silver too. The viking SS has a champagne color to it that I'm not sure if I like, or dislike. I think the stardust has a little flake to it. The would be cool if it isn't too flaky. What I really want is a powder to match BMW Silver Grey. The color of these badboys: Le CSL:cool:
StewCrew
I think bonded viking. 1, because of the name. 2, the other 3 look the same to me. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who is slightly colorblind, so take it for what it is
Brian.
I don't remember which one I said to go with, but I'm too lazy to reopen all those links. Go with the one I said. I'm also color blind, so take this post with a grain of salt.
Earl
You guys are silly=P lol I'm thinking the dark wheel silver, unless I find something close to BMW A08:cool:

Earl
Looks good! So jealous of that steering rack. Why you jealous of the steering rack? I want a Z3 one=P What I actually want to find is a Merc 190e brake booster=) Either the steel dual chamber, or the aluminum single chamber. B C
Why you jealous of the steering rack? I want a Z3 one=P What I actually want to find is a Merc 190e brake booster=) Either the steel dual chamber, or the aluminum single chamber. Crazy thing is, the Z3 rack felt stock after driving for a while, and that was coming from the extremely lazy 4.1 turn lock to lock E30 rack. These steering quickeners look like a pretty sweet addition http://pitstopusa.com/i-5080741-howe-steering-quickener-1-5-1-ratio.html?gclid=CLXK26HyobUCFfBDMgodxQQAbA
Earl
How much did you get your Z3 rack for? Where does that quickener get placed?
REKIII
Recirc. ball got you down? Why you jealous of the steering rack? I want a Z3 one=P Yeah, e39 540 and M5 got the shaft in the steering dept. They did an unbelievable job with what they had, but...... B C
I think I paid $190 for it. I got it from a junkyard in the Germantown area off a Z3 2.8 with ~80k.The steering quickener is mounted inline on the steering shaft so your original steering shaft needs to be cut, shortened, and welded. Earl
Yeah, e39 540 and M5 got the shaft in the steering dept. They did an unbelievable job with what they had, but...... Is the steering on the m5 not so good?
REKIII
It's really good. Just archaic.
REKIII
Steering box and a bunch of linkage to fit under the engine.
Earl
Steering box and a bunch of linkage to fit under the engine. I looked it up. That's lame. They did it for clearance reasons on all v8 e39's. The 6 cylinder cars came with a rack.
REKIII
Yeah, I know. Thats why I feel a pang of jealousy anytime I see a BMW rack. It mostly goes away upon incinerating the tires, but it's still there

Earl
I removed the lower dash on the driver side today, allowing me to work on the fusebox delete. I removed the brake booster with the help of Jake (StewCrew). I couldn't figure out how to get the clevis pin out. Then Jake got it out. I was trying to pull it out the wrong direction:P lol We also attempted to put some snows on my mk3, but it is too racecar to fit 14" bottle caps up front. Dat big brake setup hits the barrel. I then had to get home because my girlfriend got sick. More progress on Wednesday. Edited February 10, 2013 by Earl
StewCrew
The line "the mk3 is just too racecar to fit 14"s" makes me laugh every time. Lookin forward to Wednesday!

I had to mention it;) I think I even cracked myself up. Edit: I quick stopped in today and got the fusebox fully unbolted. Now to pull the wires and then relocate the beast under the dash Edited February 10, 2013 by Earl
Earl
I might be building two sets of wheels for the car now. I can get a sweet deal on some OZ Breytons from the homeland=) I'm either going to build them wider, or flip them. Here is a picture of them for those who do not know what they look like: They're pretty rare, but I have seen them on a few e36's. I've always had a soft spot for them=P We will see what happens.
