jc43089
That looks good. It changes the whole look to have the exhaust cutout eliminated.

Earl
That is where the compact tool kit usually goes. The donut spare is usually mounted to the underside of the car.

Earl
I've been meaning to update this but photobucket is blocked at work. I had a blockoff plate cut at work to fill the hole in the trunk from the spare tire (don't mind the missing nut. The car usually has a push pin there. I have since ordered a third nut and siliconed the plate in place) I recleaned the floor boards and removed the handbrake. The car lays frame when aired out and the whole system ( besides the handle itself) was missing from the car ever since I bought it. I will make a blockoff plate for the console until I can make a locking hydraulic handbrake that appears original Next up I ended up deciding what radiator I would run. I opted for the e36 radiator made by CSF. It will require some measuring to see what hoses work and such. The radiator is gorgeous and the quality is amazing. I picked up some super rad Reboot Engineering radiator stays to rid of the flimsy, tricky, and ugly OE stays. I also picked up new rubber isolators and 6 cylinder radiator brackets from the dealer. Today I threw it in the car to mock it up and have it in place to extend the aux fan temp switch wiring perfectly. I also finally found the part number for the rear splash guard nuts and threw them on temporarily. The last thing I have been working on is finding horns that sound good and aren't obnoxious. Everyone seems to use Hella Supertones and I just hate the sound of them. I opted for Hella Sharptones. Unfortunately they're ugly as sin when you buy them but I fixed that quickly. I was told that the hardware is garbage and corrodes quickly so the obvious choice was to replace them with stainless socket head hardware. That brings us up to speed. I have a package enroute from Germany and some other little things here and there, so updates should be coming more frequently=) B C
Bassboy3313
In for the locking hydro brake that looks stock as I want to do the same for the e21. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk
B C
Amazing stuff, Earl! I need new horns so I will check those out.
Jdesign
Hydro brake- I cant wait to see what you do for this! Hellas- How different are the sharp tones compared to the super tones? I am glad you replaced that hardware, it does rust extremely fast! Euro cover- Looks way better on my computer screen than my phone!
Earl
The supertones are more of a high screech. The Sharptones are a bit lower. The videos on youtube show a great deal of difference but they are still probably not accurate to the actual sound.

Earl
The blocking software at work isn't working today so I can now update this. I threw in my OEM Bosch Projectors to get ready for my wiring simplification/extension. I also bit the bullet and ordered my Driveshaft Specialist of Texas rebuilt driveshaft. I saw a guy had modified a set of jack pads to keep them from falling out so I had to do it as well. I just drilled and tapped them in the center for an m8x1.25 countersunk bolt. It wasn't too bad of a process. Now when the pad is inserted into the rocker, you install the bolt and the clips cannot move inward enough to pop out. Another new thing is that I sold my 1996 328iS. This meant that I had my late bumper Racing Dynamics list sitting around with no use. Out of sheer luck a guy contacted me asking if the lips differed between late and early bumpers. He just purchased one that happened to be for an early bumper, but he needed a late one. We set up the trade and he so kindly had his shipped to me first so that I could show the differences between the two. I was super stoked to have this opportunity and now we both have the lips that we want. Another new thing is that since the car lays frame when aired out, the handbrake is somewhat unnecessary and it would look better without one in the console. I made a template for the hole and just need to sacrifice another console to make the filler piece. B C and Jdesign
patsbimmer1
Nice progress! Is there really no reason you would ever need your parking brake? Even laying frame aired out I don't know how i'd feel about not having a parking brake. I'm visualizing the car parked at Water by the Bridge and rolling backwards into the river... Earl
The car has never had a working handbrake in my possession and I always park my car in gear (even though I keep getting told not to) lol

I've always parked my cars in gear (I put the handbrake on before letting off the brake/clutch though) It can't roll away if the wheels aren't on the ground! Just pull vacuum in the air ride and lift them up haha Earl

It can still roll away just being left in gear without a parking brake. m42b32
Earl
I'm sure it could. I've just never had it happen in the 9 years of driving manual cars without handbrakes haha
