A couple years ago I was in the process of putting something together similar to what you are describing but on the body/collision side of the business.  The logistics are horrendous but the technology is out there to make it a simple text/phone call situation.  A network of private shops are best for this idea because they have more to gain rather than the dealership that has the means to do it on there own.  The hard part is making the shop understand your value to bring them customers.

thats seriously how I have felt the last couple days...  I think earl is dead too since he is the only one responding to texts. I think all that nut polishing did him in.

The Volvo auto trans problems ended with the switch to the p2 chassis, which is 2000 and on, you can tell the difference pre vs post facelift.  A V70 will probably be our next family vehicle when our Maxima finishes it's process of "returning to dust whence it came."  The only downside for me is that unless you get an R (which would be crazy awesome) you can't get the manual paired with AWD.  And I need 3 pedals.

I would get the Volvo V70 every time!  Room for days, AWD, great build quality and nice interior.  The maintenance would be cheaper than the VW but more expensive than the Subaru.  I have never heard somebody tell me they were disappointed with there Volvo.

We're giving out all the bad stickers we have left for now until we get new ones cut, normally they are $3 each. Once things get settled down after the holidays we are gonna order more euro plates and get stickers cut.

So I had an interesting drive down the beltline in  Madison Last night at one point I was behind a late model x5, behind me was a blacked out e46 sedan, and on my right was the one I'm posting in here about was a lowered gray with dual go fast stripes front to bank e28 , we all stayed together for about 3 miles =] pure bliss

There's a lot of road construction going on around milwaukee.... Start collecting! Haha
