I'm with Pat on the Volvo, my brother has a 04 V70 2.5T AWD.  Had 150k on it, but in fantastic condition, and he paid $4500 for it, can't get much for that price these days.  It is a super nice car and has the I5 so it will run forever.  If they do look into Volvo's, stick with the P2 chassis, early V70's had some trans problems.

I would get the Volvo V70 every time!  Room for days, AWD, great build quality and nice interior.  The maintenance would be cheaper than the VW but more expensive than the Subaru.  I have never heard somebody tell me they were disappointed with there Volvo.

    Thanks!

I'm really excited to see what the dyno will read after addressing a couple of areas over these past months:

    - 2 Vacuum leaks fixed
         - ICV snap in fitting on the intake manifold RTV'd shut.  This kept on popping out during hard pulls.
         - Crushed plastic barbed fitting leading to ICV.

    - Spark plugs
         - Triple checked the gap to .021 on all plugs.
         - Having all plug openings exactly, let me say it again, exactly facing away from the intake side to help prevent blowout.

    - Vacuum on the crank case via exhaust.
         - I slightly ported out the valve cover vent hole for better flow.
         - Putting vacuum on the CC helps the pistons move downward easier therefore making more power.
              - I need to hook up a gauge to this to see how much it is working.

    - Full exhaust
         - This might hurt my HP numbers but help with torque?  Maybe?  Input please.

I put down 422 with the plugs breaking up at 5k rpm and major vacuum leaks.  It will be cool to see how much of a difference all these little problems hindered the output.

I should be able to get in the garage tomorrow morning and get to getting to button everything up.

Today was a good day as I pulled the euro out of storage!

Here is where she has been sitting since July. Glad it was a nice, warm sunny day today as I spent about 1.5 hours loading it on the trailer by myself (no rear suspension makes it a lot of fun  )

Hauled up to the new shop in Port Washington, even got to unload it all inside

Cleaned off the snow and now its time to start wrenching!

List of to do's to get this driving:Reseal motor (if needed, hasn't run in almost 7 years not sure on condition) Upgrade to Motronic 1.3 (in preparation for megasquirt down the road) Install new clutch Put in complete drivetrain/exhaust Probably will install new suspension components Put interior back in Buy/Install euro headlights

Honestly, if i were you, I would run the stock pump to a surge tank(probably -6) And then have a bosch 044 feed the rail. I really think swirl pots help a whole lot, and it makes things easy as well. I would run a -6 return line to your FPR because thats what most of them are, and man, its your return line, you don't need it much bigger.

So I had an interesting drive down the beltline in  Madison Last night at one point I was behind a late model x5, behind me was a blacked out e46 sedan, and on my right was the one I'm posting in here about was a lowered gray with dual go fast stripes front to bank e28 , we all stayed together for about 3 miles =] pure bliss

DrLeadFoot reacted to patsbimmer1 in patsbimmer1 FK coilovers
I spent this past weekend at LSHQ doing some much needed work on Lola.  It was nice to dig in and get these parts out of my garage finally!

My list for the weekend was as follows:
    FK Silverline Coilovers
    Grill Surround
    Hood release
    Find coolant leak
    Test fit wheels

The coilovers were an easy install.  At there lowest they satisfy my need for the low low while not being overly harsh.  I did raise the front up a bit since this is daily driven and we are only in January right now.  My steering feels much more direct and gives a bit more confidence.  On excellent to good roads the ride is better than my worn out 150k mile m tech suspension and while on fair to poor roads the ride is a bit stiff.  I have never ridden in another e36 with coilovers so I don't have any comparison that way.  My brother-in-laws A6 on ST's is comparable to the ride the FK's deliver.  I paid $749 for them through ESE tuning and bought the coilover cup kit from Turner Motorsports that came with the front and rear mount reinforcements for $200.  Overall, I am extremely satisfied.

I don't have any pictures of the hood release install but that is a pain in the ass.  Come to find out one of my hood releases is frozen so a new one will be ordered soon.  No pictures of the wheel test fit either... you guy's will have to wait for that surprise!

Here are a few shots after the grill surround and grill were put in.

As for my coolant leak... The hose on the bottom of the resevoir was loose.  Easy fix compared to any other e36 coolant disasters.

DrLeadFoot reacted in 1987 325e. Eventually Boost+M50 Swap
So I got my M50 longblock the other day.

I needed some parts for my swap so I got the following:

    late model coolant reservoir

    e28 535i motor mounts

M50 alternator (my longblock didn't come with one. I got it on the cheap!)

Then I filled up my corolla and went to milwaukee to meet with Snap and KaiserRolls for lunch.

I bought these headers off of KaiserRolls for my m50 swap for $50. The welding connecting them to the midpipe is almost too good to be true.

Then Kaiser drove me to meet up with Rampelsauce. I bought a zinnoberrot trunk + is spoiler off him for $40... Yes... I am in the back of an E30 coupe WITH an e30 trunk. So very spacious indeed (and I'm almost 6'2").

After a very dangerous drive back (freezing rain.. saw a lifted jeep with meaty tires spin off the interstate at 70mph smack right into a concrete wall under a bridge) my corolla had used less than half a tank to get to Milwaukee and back (I'm from madison; I filled my corolla up before I left)

I "Kryloned" the is spoiler and did the trunk swap. Here's how she sits.

I'll snap a bunch of pics if/when I get them. I'm confident they'll get low enough for me, I'm hoping the dampening and spring rates are where I expect them.
Some shipping donkey at FedEx in Cali probably has them on his E30 already.

I have -8 from the stock tank and stock pump, to the surge tank, then dual bosch 044 in parallel with -8 lines going to both sides of the fuel rail, and a -6 from the center of the fuel rail to the surge tank(FPR THAT I HAVENT ORDER YET INSERT HERE), and then -6 all the way back.

I picked up my order of stainless bolts yesterday=)

While I was there I dropped off the bolt for the oil filter housing to see if they can make me one out of stainless with a socket head. We have another idea if they cannot make one.

I also dropped off one of my fender screws to see if they can find a stainless socket head screw that would work. I want to run some Downstar fender washers, but BMW decided that a metal screw was better than the usual m6 hardware......
