It came from the 1985 528i M30B28 I bought from @pointofdeparture. I donated the rest of.the car to the UW Platteville club and they opted to install a M30B35 instead. I haven't heard any details on the car since @bfinley left the college.

Here it is! I'm very happy with the results so far! Alex at Alpinemss was awesome! As soon as the cable showed up I shot him an email and he responded with directions to request the tune and options. Sent the request and was sent back the GTS tune and motor tune within about an hour along with detailed instructions. I loaded everything to my computer, backed up the stock ECU which took about 35 minutes then started loading the tunes which took about another 30 minutes. No issues, no hiccups, car started right up with no concerns at all. I opted for these options on this tune:
Stage 2 93 octane Cold Start Delete Servotronics (increased steering effort) Speed Limiter Delete The shifts feel a lot faster after the GTS tune and it smoothed out the reverse to 1st gear transition along with smoothing the throttle mapping for nicer take off. At first I couldn't quite tell if the car felt faster or if the shifts were making it feel quicker but after a bit of driving I can definitely tell there's an increase in power and after watching the videos (over and over and over) I can see the tach needle climbing faster. I've got some dyno time scheduled next week with @wasnt m3so we'll see what kind of gains I got!
Before and after video as requested by @KaiserRolls.

I've made a lot of progress since my last post. I ended up replacing the oil pump with a new unit. I got my oil pan and subframe back from Bayside Fabrication(Ben Sipson). I wired in the CAN module from gpetersen(r3v). I built a steering shaft using 2 e46 knuckles. I found a 3turn 712 zhp rack at a junkyard, e36 outer and e46 inner tie rods. I had to extend a few harness to fit into the glovebox, lots of soldering. I'll need to tuck the wiring. My DME came back from Kassell. I ended up having an H bridge installed in an mss54hp, MAP sensor, and csl tune. I used ecuworx for the swap coding. I went with the e46 m3 driveshaft and e30 CSB. 1 1/8" was removed from the front and I installed a 4 bolt e36 flange on the rear(32") for an overall length of 1374mm with the guibo. The shifter is an ebay AC Shnitzer euro e36 m3 6 speed spin off. I shortened the dssr to 109mm. I used a premade s54 3" exhaust adapter and it just so happened to bolt right up to the rest of my exhaust. I modified the airbox to clear the booster. I installed the fuel pump and FPR with some fresh fuel line clamps. The oil cooler AN lines are done. I briefly started the engine and it runs good! I need to finish up the cooling system and break in the rings/hone before running the engine anymore.

I don't know if you usually use E10 fuel but if you can run it low and fill up with non ethanol fuel it is much better. It doesn't deteriorate rapidly like ethanol fuel does.

I'm not big on Nurburgring videos but this is cool seeing an F1 driver toss around a car he's never driven until that day. Also, my favorite is when he tells the story about the first place requiring him to have an instructor to rent a car for the track.

I think that's what I'm leaning to. And then painting or staining it the same color as the upper cabinets and kitchenette thing in the garage.
Here's a drawing for a workbench with two 46' tool chests if anyone wants it.

Im currently in the process of getting all the parts together. Decided to paint the block white. I'll be going NA, power goal of 350whp with cams/intake/pulleys/exhaust/tune. I went with megan racing headers and a vac single collector. I'll be running AC through a CAN module. Pusher and puller fan setup. Dual sump pan. ZHP rack, born2drift axle adapters, garagistic secondary diff mount. I'll post more as I go.

Didn’t want to go through the hassle of drilling and tapping the 5 series tstat housing just to have it crack along the casting parting line so here we are. Bung welded to a new aluminum one

Finally go the car on the ground ready to street tune. Just teed on the return and added a fitting to the DS sending unit, fuel pressure is solid. Oil filter relocation is mounted (none of it touches by the way). Ground clearance is solid, lowest point of anything is the turn down which is about 3.75". And added some pictures of the interior, wire diagram I made, and glove box mess.

I’ve had my eye on these vinyl banners of vintage pictures at Road America for awhile now. Drove the E30 down to RA for the PCA event and picked one up while I was in the shop signing the form to get the RA license plates considered to be put into DMW rotation. 84”x48”, I’ll probably end up getting a couple more these when I have my own garage.
I went with the Mark Donohue driven Porsche 917/30.

It's been a while! The wagon has been clocking the miles like a champ all summer. The front diff mount reinforcement has been on the radar for a minute and with the stars aligning with my schedule I pulled the trigger. Mike has done all of it solo as real estate is booming and my free time is spent with the family.
The list:
-M5 subframe bushings, dinan front diff reinforcement kit, powder coated subframe gloss black, all new bushings, new lower control arms (left is on back order from Germany), M5 ladder bars powder coated gloss black.

I knocked out another trim piece today and it was the large one that expands almost the entire dash. I figured out that i needed to use a lot more fabric to make the corners work better and got into a nice rhythm of glue/fit/hold. I'm a lot happier with this piece and overall I absolutely love the scheme of it. It pops with enough color without being over the top. 3 more pieces to go!
