It felt wierd for a moment to chop perfectly good zf320 but oh well got to do what you got to do.

This is how much it will rotate.

A little angle grinder holder. It is also nice to have a flat table.

    chop chop

    And rotated.

Now i need to pull my m42 block from e21 bolt the transmission and weld the bellhousing.

Got the car running last night. Took some attempts. I put in a new fuel pump and it wasn't getting any power when cranking. I jumped the pump relay pins and it started. Plugged the relay back in and now the pump was magically getting power. And then while running I was getting a weird noise which ended up being the CPS harness sitting on the alternator fan getting chewed up. It didn't wear through to the bare wires, but it did remove all the protect coating and the shielding. SOOOOOO took that out and ordered an OEM CPS and a couple new relays.

This round of things grew beyond the originally planned suspension and exhaust and there some things to button up. But I'm really excited.
Beyond the e30 I have a full suspension refresh coming for the 850, rubber coolant and intercooler hoses to get rid of all the dumb red silicone hoses, and things to give it a good tune up.

This is still happening, timetable has been pushed back due to weather and contractor being busy. Patio starts this week in a few days which means driveway should get poured in the next 2-3 weeks. Most likely will try to set something up for July or August.

Damn its been almost  two months since the last update.

i got distracted  building my welding/shop table. 1/4" top 2x3x1/8" tube. Nice and solid. Good enough for some light duty welding

I pulled the second fender, finished front coilovers and welded the lolipop mounts. i put some contours in and my car looks like crap. Waaaaaay too big

I am changing plans and will roll on 15x7s with some skinny 205s this season (if it ever comes out of the garage this season).

Since my car is wider front and back by roughly 30mm per side the standard e21 offsets do not work anymore. and finding high offset 8-9" wheels with 5x120 pattern is almost impossible. I could build some splits but it would probably  cost more than my car is worth.

I got set of these for $40. Just need some paint. 15x7et20

Oh and i just ordered a nice an light flywheel (6-7lbs) to accept my 7.25" tilton clutch. I suspect some terrible clutch engagement characteristics. It will be chirp the tires or stall and nothing in between.

Lastly i had to shorten e36 tie rods to get the toe in check.
I cut, welded and added some sleeves to prevent shopping cart mode in the future.

lol. @The Full Banana is the same way. Put a cleaning product and towel in his line of sight and he can't resist the urge to start cleaning engine bays.

Did the Overcrest Rally with @The Full Banana over the weekend. Tom did most of the driving since I was technically the passenger and we were supposed to be in his 240. But we both had a blast and the e30 exceeded my expectations and was able to keep up with the 911s in the group we drove with most of the time. Got a lot of compliments on how quick we were on the roads.

After about 400ish miles that made up the rally, the car came home with a significant number of rock chips, a season’s worth of tire removed, and very tired suspension. But it was all totally worth it.

I think that's what I'm leaning to. And then painting or staining it the same color as the upper cabinets and kitchenette thing in the garage.
Here's a drawing for a workbench with two 46' tool chests if anyone wants it.

Wood frame would be easy, and you could paint it to make it match nicely. Personally, i would try to have them close to flush with the floor. I hate how much dirt and crap accumulates under my work benches. The real ticket to be a baller is a stainless steel top (or discount baller solution of a $40 laminate countertop at Menards). Elevator bolts is a good idea for adjustability.

If my count is correct, it was over 10 years ago that I sold my previous e30 to @visian , so it was time to pick up another.

It’s a 1987 325i 5 speed in schwarz over cardinal. My friend’s parents owned it for the last 10 years but only put 3,000 miles on it during that time, and it’s been stored out of the elements.
We’ll see if this gets a thread or not. I’m not planning on going crazy with this car. This will be the simple, carefree summer cruiser to serve as a counterpart to the angry, money pit Volvo.

I checked out a cars & coffee style event in Thiensville yesterday morning. It was put on by fuelfed car club out of Chicago, but was open to the public (for pre-1995 cars) so I popped over in the Volvo. Probably 25 cars total, but every one of them was interesting and all of the owners I chatted with were very nice, welcoming and surprisingly knowledgeable compared to the average car enthusiast. This was by far my favorite event I’ve been to in a while.
Of the BMW variety, I spotted a e31 850, 2002, e9 3.0cs, and an amazing older BMW 700 that I’ve never seen or heard of before. Probably the coolest BMW I've seen in a while. Oozing with character.

I’ve been driving it to work for the past couple weeks and the power steering seems to be fine. I bought one of those home alignment kits with the plates and tape measures and got pretty close to a good alignment. Needs some real minor adjustment. But all in all, it’s been very enjoyable!

The night mode on the new iPhone seems to work pretty okay. Have some condensation in one of the headlights, so I’ll have to pull that out and reseal it. Save that for this winter or something.

We also have some basement walls at our house!

If it was this, it's me:

Also, as stated, I do also drive a f10 535xi, which just got fresh dampers, H&R springs, new michelins and non-cracked wheel:

    Where are you located?
