Jdesign
I saw this online a few days ago and its still blowing my mind. I guess it was a factory part and only 3 of them were made. It was used for a showcase in an auto show at the end of the E30's production. The owner is in Europe and apparently paid $15,000 for the hardtop alone. If anyone has leads on a cheap E30 hardtop locally let me know. I just thought I would share because its gawd damn AMAZING. It would be hard taking a sawzall to it though.
HipMF
Curmudgeony old guy here to mention that that has to be pretty heavy if it's glass. Also, I would think you'd have a really hard time re-creating it out of plexi due to the compound curves. Might be able to use the top as a form before cutting it though... hmm... Its not glass its a polymer. I asked E30_jv, the owner. I dont think it would be as hard as you think. I would cut the oem top only after making a jig, then making a mold to form the "glass". Doing so would also allow me to make more than 1.
