patsbimmer1
I am a bit biased but... 4 doors work just fine.

Earl
I would assume you mean 325. Sedans are cooler than coupes=)
B C
They are just fine but having gotten used to the 2dr, getting in and out of a 4dr makes me bump my elbow on the B pillar
michael1972
Yea 325. And I just found out he is the original owner and has all records since purchase.
Boris3
Doors preferences vary. I like 2, but I either don't have or don't use the backseat in mine.Just a 325? This would be the 2.7 e engine with lower horsepower and a torque curve set up for better mileage (unless the PO stroked it) versus the higher hp and higher torque curve 2.5 325i/is. Both can be fun, depends on your wants/needs.

Will I be able to up the power a little bit somewhat easily with a cai or some other mod?
jc43089
What year is it? That will tell for sure. You can swap an "i" head and electronics onto it for an "i stroker" but that may be more than you want to take on?
michael1972
Its a 1987. I just want a fun little 5 speed to lower a bit and run some autocross for fun. My e92 335i has plenty of go when I need a power fix.
YoungCR
ETA's are awesome for daily drivers but not sure how it would hold up in auto cross. 4700 rpm redline would run out quick.
Boris3
You could add a conforti chip for the 325e for a +24/28 hp/tq bump and a new 5300 red line for a bit more go. If you're just looking for fun in autox you'll be fine. Also bring it out to the ice this winter. But if you want to be competitive in autox find another car. Given classing structures in SCCA autox these days and what you have to run against, the e30 is not that competitive in e or i/is forms. michael1972
If I wanted to turbo it would this motor be ok for that?
Earl
Yes=) Especially if you do the i head swap. Then you would essentially have a stroked m20=P
DrLeadFoot
Yes=) Especially if you do the i head swap. Then you would essentially have a stroked m20=P This^ I did an "I" head swap and had a 4.10 diff back in the day and I thought it was a beast. This does drop the compression making it perfect for a turbo. Still quick in NA form with the lower comp.
jc43089
I have a 4.10 if you want it, it will put you high in the revs on the interstate, I had it in for a 2k mile road trip last summer and it wasn't terrible. LMK
mkoepp
Try to get the last seven digits of the VIN and go here to see what it came from the factory with. I love 4 doors. The E28 never came with two and that is fine with me.

LMKHow high in the revs are we talkin if I was cruisen at 75-80mph? And how much would you want for it? Also with 4.10 gears don't you get more tq down low? jc43089
IIRC it was around 3500 at 70 mph. It will have more acceleration but it was a little too aggressive for DD. First gear is pretty much useless. 50 bucks? I just want it out of my garage. You are in Wausau right? I can drop it off anytime I am visiting family in the area. B C
One way to look at the higher freeway revs is that you are less prone to speeding since you wont want to cruise at 75-80. I ran one for a few years. Id rather have an S4.10 than any ratio of open diff
jc43089
The one I have is an open. Sent from my potato phone
