I can't believe I haven't found this site sooner!!!  A good friend who's a member ( i_love_cars  ) recommended your forum site to me....
Joining up from the Fox Cities...  North Appleton area.
I am lucky enough to own copies of both the first naturally aspirated M3 BMW ever made, as well as the last naturally aspirated M3 BMW will likely ever make.  The old one is Ruby, who is a Brilliant Red 1990, and the young buck is Johann, a LeMans Blue 2012 competition package.
I have been a BMW fan since my first one many years back. It was a 1999 540i 6-speed, and it's been all down hill from there.  After spending a small fortune on modding that car and getting my first taste of track driving, I eventually graduated to a 2004 M3.  The track-bug has been devouring my wallet ever since....  Doesn't hurt that we have Road America, one of the most enjoyable and historic tracks in North America, in our back yard!
Always down for hitting a car show or a cruise.

This one is not bad, its just really boring. I never realized how much fun I had while driving my car I guess, because this just isn't any fun to drive. 
But I do get 46 mpg around town, and I won't have to drive my car in the winter or on short drives anymore. It put me behind in the M3 hunt but overall it was probably a smart move.

Defyant Motorsports should be able to do this for you, that's where my car is now. If not, try to grab Lee at Dahl Hyundai, he's an old german car expert and used to do all my work, but he is retiring after this week.

Hey everyone. I picked up a e46 m3 cab with some cool mods on it. Has the whole AC Schnitzer treatment: front lip, rear diffuser, exhaust, wheels, spoilers etc. also a brembo BBK kit and some coilovers. 6mt. Was a one owner car and has 80k on it. The previous owner had it in storage for years so it needed a major detail (spider webs galore lol) put a battery in it, water pump and some new plugs and it runs strong! Also got some nice meaty Michelin Pilot PS4S Tires (pilot super sport replacement) witch are amazing. Going to do a beisan Vanos over haul and valve adjustment next. Keep a look out for more photos soon to come. Only have these two for now lol.

Sucks about your car. I'd say it's the water pump or expansion tank. If you shut her down early on, you should be safe.

What I don't understand is why it sounds like shit.  My guess is this is some form of n63/s63 and that engine sounds good.  How did they fuck this up?

Found this sitting at the garage I was picking my car up from. Pictures don't even do it justice, its so pretty. Apparently a local collector held on to this car for ten years and only put 2k miles on it. As someone that badly wants an E46 M3 right now, I'm sad I can't afford this.

For how I use the car I love the SMG. I usually put on about 2500-3000 a month being a Realtor and driving all over SE WI.
I lost compression and put in a "new" motor 2 winters ago. After the swap my SMG pump went bad. Then my gear selector rod bent on the install. So needed a new one of those. All is well now.
With all the people swapping the 6 speed there are "cheaper" SMG parts available.

Hello everyone! Long time hope everyone is doing well. Let's cut to the chase, I bought a shark. 54k original miles. Mint. More pictures to come. BBS RS and suspension hopefully  
 

The E46 M3 is a great car. A nice 135i can be bought for the same price, if not cheaper. I'd say test drive both.
Also, all I hear are horror stories about the SMG. I'd stay away, but don't have personal experience.

@DrLeadFoot on here went through some SMG hydraulic unit debacles after an engine replacement but he eventually got it worked out on his own. He has put a lot of miles on his SMG and hopefully chimes in here

I just leave my cars dirty so you can't see the rock chips.

The mighty N54 doesnt act up, it just likes to play "hard to drive"

I'll teach you to drive manual next time you come through Madison on a weekend, it's easy just takes practice to perfect and every car is different even if it's the same car. 

I will be in Neenah next week on Thursday afternoon/evening and if the weather is good I can bring my M3 and let you test drive it.
