Finished the paint restore today. Was much cooler out so that made being outside a lot more enjoyable. The paint came back really well and I am happy with the result. The products I used for the restore were Meguiars Ultimate Compound, Polish, and Liquid Wax. I didn't test it, but the paint should have a really good bead. I'll ask Jake to take some pictures with the DSLR so you guys can get a better idea of how it came out. The iPhone pictures will suffice for the time being.

The iPhone pictures don't do the paint justice, but it looks great. Exponentially better. Now we're going to clean up the trim pieces and tidy up some loose ends.
Plan is to pull the motor this weekend, freshen it up, and drop it back in with a new trans. Then we're gonna get the hookup on some cheap used JOM coilovers and eventually get some cheap wheels. The car should end up looking pretty decent.
Also, we tried pounding the dent out a little bit. The "after" picture makes it look better than it really is, but it's improved for sure.

Well.... Had a really good night on car stuff, but can't make the picnic tomorrow. 😭

Car at was up and running quite well (with the exception of the fuel clamps constantly loosening up and leaking).  Took the car for a test drive to the gas station and ITB's felt amazing - even on a very basic tune.  Unfortunately on the way home from getting gas the car started feeling more and more sluggish, so hustled home and got it into garage.  Quite thankful I added a dial gauge to my FPR, has helped immensely in troubleshooting.  As fast as the pump would prime fuel into FPR (5 seconds or so to fill to 50psi) - the pressure would drop right back down to 0.  Thankfully the ITB's allow for easy diagnosis of some things now, so opening the throttle plates and looking down at the valves provided a clear view of an injector literally dumping fuel into cylinder 4.

Did get some good pics and video from people as a consolation prize...

Another hot day today. Thankfully, there is some really good shade cover from some big trees on the road in front of Jake's house. Was able to keep the E46 and E30 cool all afternoon. It was probably an easy 20 degree difference being in the shade and being in the sun, would not have worked today had I not been in the shade. Just ran a long extension cord across the road to get power for the rotary wheel. Also just used buckets of water to wash the car on the side of the road as the hose did not reach. I only cut the car today, so the car still has swirl, but the depth was really brought back out. I will be hopefully polishing and waxing it tomorrow to finish up the paint restore. It has cleaned up pretty well. Some areas will need to be revisited, but overall I am happy with the outcome. Buddy from Bergstrom stopped over with some metal polish and helped me with the bumpers and window trim while I finished buffing the car.

Hoping after the polish and the wax the car will really shine.

I think a good cleaning is really going to change the overall impression of the car. A good paint correction will really help the outside appearance.

I think a 24 valve swap is a lot more likely.

Like Jake had stated, I had no idea that I would be purchasing an E30 later that night. Glad we did however, as this is a pretty good car for the price we paid for it. Obviously with it not running is less than ideal, but our intentions and expectations were not to buy a perfectly fine running and driving car. This will definitely be a project, but something both Jake and I will look forward to working on. It's the first time for me, and for him to some extent, that we can work on a car with no worries of having to be able to drive it the next day or not.
Massive dent might be an understatement, dude backed a truck into this thing. We should be able to fix it to some extent, we aren't expecting anything perfect. A little TLC is going to take this car a long way. Has a cardinal interior that is in pretty good condition, the worst offender being the driver seat that might be salvageable. The paint is in pretty good condition given the age of the car. I plan to do a paint correction on it that should really clean up the overall appearance.
This dude definitely lived out in the middle of fuckin no where. He was a nice guy, also had his dad help us push it up on the trailer so that was a big help. Dude also had a techno violet E36 M3, definitely didn't expect to see that there. Once again, good thing Ben was with us as neither Jake or I knew how to tie down a car to a trailer properly.
Also big shout out to Jakes neighbor for lending us his tow rig. Pulling that thing with a dolly would have been horrendous. Super nice trailer.

Use the BMW blue coolant. When it leaks you can just pretend it's washer fluid and ignore future repairs.

    So heres an update:
Well I think my account was deleted due to inactivity, had to create a new account. Not a lot happened has happened with the car in the past year. I sold the LM replicas, didn't have the money at the time to do anything suspension wise and it killed me to have those wheels on stock suspension. Well I have a co-op with Mercury Marine now making a pretty good wage throughout the week and I still have my Bergstrom job which will be paying dividends for access to tools/lift/alignment rack/etc.
The car bug has recently bitten me again and now making better money I plan to actually do something with the car this spring/summer.
Headed down to Illinois this Saturday to pick up some new wheels, style 68's.
    Bergstrom lifts making life easier

    First impressions looking good

    Yeah, that looks better

Taking care of the rust this summer

I found out that I had a broken spring at the way bottom of the coil in the rear. Car rides fine, but probably is the explanation for why it sits at a different height by a finger on that side than the other. So the plan is to go with the FK coilovers for the price and basic lowering. This is just a daily, have heard the Fk's ride similar to the sport suspension but slightly stiffer.
Other mods to come this summer. This lip, which is apparently one of the only options for the stock bumper. For $80 though I can't complain

For 80 dollars I'll also be picking up some new headlight lenses because mine are super pitted and hazy. (have tried to buff and cut them already)
Also would like to pick up a set of LED tails, they are only like $150 on Ebay, so I dont see why not.
For maintenance I need to replace the lower front control arm bushings. Was quoted $1500 at Bergstrom when I got my ebrake fixed, fuck that. Have seen the DIY's and they its a 2-4 hour job, and the bushings themselves are 70 dollars.

So thats the status of the car as of now, excited to finally make some changes that will reflect the way I want the car to look. Excited for this summer.
