HipMF got a reaction from patsbimmer1 in possible oil in air filter
Sounds like excessive blow-by, you need an M50 swap.

Nice!
I've been in a bit of a lull lately. Took me a few tries to get the center support bearing mounts for the e30 driveshaft done right. I finally got my pistons and dropped them off at the machine shop. Hopefully I'll have the block back by next weekend. It's been a long time since I made any visible progress, so I decided to put the front suspension back together and put the car back on the ground.
I wheeled it outside and rinsed a couple months worth of accumulated dust off of it and now I'm totally stoked about getting it back on the road again. Spent a few hours today scrubbing down the engine bay. Will probably put some paint on it this week.
This is what I like to see. A small forest of unused jackstands!

I need something a little more utilitarian right now. I'm actually a bit tempted by this one. We'll have to see where the bidding ends up...

I'm so cool! Intercooler, oil cooler, radiator. Bam. Mounted.
Diff that leaked a crap load of gear oil?!
Bam, Fixed, replaced the input shaft seal and the little cover platy guy. Spins nice and easy, and hasn't leaked at all yet! That is in the car now.
Kapow! Seam sealer! I spent a lot of time with this stuff, and it ended up looking really darn good in my opinion!
Slightly blurry shot..
Today I went and got my paint made up for the engine bay, bought all of the necessary paint things to spray the bay, and bought some other goodies. Including but not limited to; AASCO Flywheel, Strut tower brace, Aluminum throttle bushing, and some other little crap.
I have hope!

I dig the e28. Why not throw money at that? It's cool to have a car that has some family history, so I'd want to hang on it. Might as well clean it up if you're going to hang on to it, and if you're going to spend time cleaning it up, you might as well put your own spin on it...

Sell it. Buy a grom. Thank me later. It puts a limit on what size chicks you can bring home

Flat trackers are cool. Front end swaps look perfect on those style bikes.
It would be nice if you could fit a 16.5" up front and a 5" wide 17" hoop in the rear

I'm a less-is-more kind of guy, so I don't have a lot of tools (read: has no money). I wait until I need something to buy it. Almost bought a sawzall recently, but got the job done with a jigsaw. The only thing I seem to have an excess of is hammers.
Favorite tool: Milwaukee 4 1/2" angle grinder

Wow, thanks Jake. I'm not very good at selling myself to prospective employers, so I'll take the confidence boosters when I can get them.

One of my current projects. Full restoration of a 1960's Honda S90. Have everything for it, just taking my time to do it right.

I pulled a sting to see how straight the driveline was going to be. It's attached to the diff flange in the rear, and I used the height of the output flange of the transmission to set the height of the string at the front of the car.
I put a pipe across the frame rails so that I'd have something to measure off of after I put the engine and trans in.
Whoa... that's not good. The front of the engine about an inch and a half low. Not a huge angle, but enough that I think I'm going to make a new transmission crossmember to compensate.
After I was happy with everything I welded up the crossmember and bolted it up to my mock-up engine. It's been a long time since I did any welding, but it turned out pretty good.
I was going to work on mounting the center support bearing today, but I forgot to order the the little dust shield that goes on the driveshaft, so I put some candy-colored bushings in my LCAs instead.
Making progress, and it feels good.

My last bike. Home-made seat and exhaust. Lots of unnessesary things removed. Light and fun.
Still have this one, but it needs some work.
