There is very little of value to me on there, I even had someone who supposedly builds x5x engines tell me that if I set the cam timing how I do my engine would be smashed immediately.  Funny I have done several and they all run great...  He said the timing blocks are absolutely necessary.  His looked to have an angled cut in them which is different than any others I have seen too.

I only stay in on it for the LOLs.

Doing a little #TBT post today. What's the first BMW remember or rode in? This is me at 2 years old standing next to one of my Dad's 528e's.

Riding in the backseat with my grandma who also owned a 528e at the time.

Also found a cool picture of camping up in door county with my grandparent's Rover and the Airstream.

Also it's funny how things don't change, E28's getting towed by Suburban's

Sadly I couldn't find any pictures of my Dad's Alpina E21, but I can remember riding in that car too.

The new tires i will be getting are going to be meatier and the front end is missing about 100lbs of weight. With that said, i plan on raising the rear 3/4" for better suspension geometry (as opposed to lowering the front) this had been on my to-do list for a long while now.
Its hard to get used to how small the wheels look but they are SO much lighter and driving will be much more enjoyable

The anatomy of an M20 rocker arm:
    Cast aluminum body, heat-treated
Tool steel or hardened carbon steel wear surface added as a casting insert
Press-fit bronze bushing for rocker shaft wear surface.

The heavy duty rocker arms made by Ireland Engineering are a simple yet elegant solution to the factory M20 rocker arms which can fail due to improper valve adjustment (high impact loads) and high rpm. The BMW rockers do not last very long when run over 7000 rpm and are known to fail randomly at any rpm when the engine lacks proper valve adjustments in its service history. IE HD rockers are known to run 8000rpm+ on track reliably.

This is an easily reverse-engineered part and the main difference of the IE HD rocker over the BMW rocker is the thicker cross-section at the valve eccentric fork, which is the point of failure. There is also some stress-relieving on the underside via polishing. The rockers do not appear to be peened.
Thanks to IE for making these upgrade parts for the M20!

If you do not want to shell out the cash for HD rockers, do not plan on revving past 7000, and want to reduce the chance of rocker arm failure, you can get BMW rockers shot peened, you can grind off the parting lines, and polish them .

I am not really "building" but am swapping parts and taking care of maintenance items at the same time. It is going slow due to other business that needs tending to. It's going pretty smooth and no problems yet.

Today I am going to swap the spare tire and trunk carpet . Oh yea, there is a weight back there too.
