Bassboy3313 got a reaction from KaiserRolls in ZF 5spd Detent Replacement Tools
The first one was a bitch and a half. Made the mistake of not splitting the bushing completely down the seam. it came loose from the bore, but I was unable to pull it out due to the lower half not being folded in enough. It fell down into the trans, thought I was screwed. Eventually got it out tho. Second one came out super easy after learning from the first one. Now to just get some small files to clean up the bore walls. Then I can get the new ones in and finish up the trans work.

Just grabbed the drifts from Joe. Should definitely help with installing the new bushings. Just have to get creative to remove the detents and old bushings....

I’ll take a look there. I have to be careful because I get too deep in things like that and it makes me rethink all my life choices and convince myself I need to tear down my garage and start over.

I found this example that I like.

Tear down started. Rear main seal replaced, engine put on stand, ps pump removed, ac compressor removed, intake manifold removed, front diff and axle carrier removed, oil pan removed.

Next up is crank pulley removal to replace all timing components. Also remove as many brackets, housings, mounts, etc to get blasted and painted.

My first choice would be to have it welded (depending on cost), I reached out to one place but would love a recommendation! I'll text you!

If you ARE looking to get the crack fixed, I know a guy who does awesome work. He fixed a crack/gouge on the set of ZHP wheels I bought for my touring. Just a thought if you were thinking of going that route.

Some of you know that my daily is an e46 325xi touring.

As of recently, it may be going under the knife soon for a swap that was too good to pass up. Found a complete M54B30 with complete 5spd trans setup for a steal of a deal. Includes an underdrive pulley kit, M5 clutch and a Spec M5 lightened flywheel as well.

    More to come....

I had to remove the entire rear interior when I did the coilovers in order to install the rear struts. In slowly changing the interior over to black which is why it hasn't been reinstalled yet. That speaker in picture is the OEM subwoofer with the OEM amp on other side.

Got the interior dome, map and rear cargo lights switched over to LED. I also installed the LeatherZ footwell light kit, which looks great. They fade in and out with the dome lights and really fill up the interior with light. It also is a factory look install which I like as well.
