HipMF
Some of those corner pieces look like a pain. Glad it's going well.

GunMetalGrey
Jake has madd skillz yoThose were from the day we brought it out to the shop, when it kept overheating the oil and shutting off at stop signs/lights.I really need to add pictures of the new car, but its so dern cold. Which is kind of a BS excuse, because it's in the shop. Maybe tonight.
HipMF
Amazing progress since I saw the car last night. I'm speachless.Seriously though, that car needs to get back on the road and working right by summer. I'm hoping to have my beater together this weekend, and get the paint booth project wrapped up. Should be able to paint the bay within a week or two...
GunMetalGrey
Ha, it amusing to look at pictures of it and then think of what it looks like right now. Nowhere near as cool... Summer is my goal, as always. Waiting for this cold strike to calm down a bit. That is really a BS excuse, maybe my lazy ass will go there today and get some work done. You cannot call it a beater after what has been done to it lol.
GunMetalGrey
Pictures of the new lady, yes I did take some stuff off of it after buying it, and its kidneys are making a better appearance on HipMF's car. I look forward to cleaning it out, there was a small furry friend living in it for a bit. It reeks.
ClassE
Maybe I missed it earlier in the thread - but what's the plans for the new car?!? (Parting it I hope so you can sell me some stuff?!?)
GunMetalGrey
What do you need? Unfortunately my plans are on the DL until I get a few things together for it, and then I shall explain. I will make a build log, but will not post it until the car is pretty close to where I want it.
GunMetalGrey
Wow, it's been far too long!Have been working on the putsy stuff. Smoothing panels etc. Got the new core support mocked up, but wasn't quite happy with the finish on it. As you can see from the picture its not flat, it is kind of wavy on top and I think that will drive me insane so I will be picking up an OEM piece. B C
Removable core? Or replacing a bent one
GunMetalGrey
Removable, old one was indeed bent and pretty rusty
jc43089
I bought an aftermarket core support for my Maxima and I got what I paid for, half as much as OE and also half as thick. Fell apart within a year. The engine cradle mounts to the core support in the center and I ended up welding angle iron across to support the engine cradle. Not very pretty but sturdy. TLDR: spend the money for OE.
Earl
Smooth all the things! Great job Ben
GunMetalGrey
Thanks ! The core support isn't really thinner, and nothing critical mounts to it , it just doesn't look as good as I want it to.
HipMF
Smooth all the things! Great job Ben OCD anonymous? We've had a relapse... Hahaha. I appreciate the end result, but watching these things happen first hand can be painful and confusing. Ben: Have you looked at your passenger-side rear window recently? GunMetalGrey
On it's way. Even from that picture and the previous pictures you can see exactly what I am talking about on the top of it. I ended up getting it from a different supplier, at $240 shipped. Went to the dealer to see what they would charge, it was $120 more but as it turns out there are still 722 late model core supports left in the world. That is quite a few! I tossed some primer down into the engine bay to take a better look at my filler jobs! Will post pictures of that tomorrow most likely, I didn't feel like hanging around the fumes to find out how it looked! I did finish swapping over the seats from HipMF's car into mine! Much better condition seats, and I also vacuumed the carpet, and re-installed the under dash cover that goes above the pedals. Looks much better! Oh! I also ordered this! Finally something to put in the center of my steering wheel! DrLeadFoot
jc43089
That is quite a few, I called Toyota about a fuel pump for my cruiser and I was told there were 4 left. They were priced accordingly so I converted to an inline electric, stock is mechanical driven from the cam.
