This is a really nice example and looks like its from a good home. I would love to own one of these some day, just think it's a very unique car. One's like this at this price point won't exist much longer if I had to guess.

I'm sure maintenance is a nightmare, but V12 BMW.

Also, other than the center console with the 3 head units, this interior has aged extremely well.

Been a while since I've seen a Craigslist-esque train wreck ad.

  3. F30 update. New wheels and tires.

    VMR V801

    19x9.5 ET35 square

    255/35R19 Falken FK510

Really love how these look and how much it improved the cars overall appearance. Enough show that they look good, but also subdued enough that look OEM+ ish. Think they are very reminiscent of the F80 MX snowflake wheels.

Could be a little lower, but I think got daily purposes, this is pretty good. I think the fitment is about as good as you can get it, fills out the wheel well and is just at the fender.

This has made me look at this car as more than just A to B transportation again. Some other big updates coming soon that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.

I dont know why but lucas fuel additive seemed like it helped with the ticking but it probably just lubricated the injectors so they werent as loud when they closed. Get a louder stereo.

Unfortunately, I am using a bluetooth speaker for the time being as I get Daft Punk/R2D2 noises when I turn the car stereo on. Something I would like to figure out this summer. Don't think it's the speakers themselves as they get deafeningly loud when it's making noises. More than likely the AMP or deck. Would like to convert to the Continental deck that most people switch to.

  5. It lives.

Charged the battery up and dropped it last night after work, started right up.

Drove it up and down the street just to stretch it out a little bit. In dire need of a wash and probably a little air in the tires.

Probably need to have a valve adjustment done this spring, sounded a little ticky. Or the oil just hadn't circulated entirely from starting for the first time in 6 months.

Back into the storage until it's nice out full time.

  6. Forums will always be the superior version of car internet communication. As others have stated, the format just works better for searching and documenting things compared to the comment style of Facebook. While there is no financial "barriers of entry", because you have to sign up and use a site that is not the one you are using for the other things(i.e. Facebook), deters the majority of people. Everyone wants everything to be a quick, one stop, "Amazon" style experience regardless of what the medium or product is now.

While I wouldn't classify it as "work", you have to put in the effort to get to this site and actually utilize it, and people are lazy. In regards to the community size, would it be nice to have a higher retention rate and more people posting on here? Yes. But if you look at any FB group, just like anything else, the more people that use it, the quality goes down.

This forum is also largely seasonal, because it is a local forum, we are confined to the weather.

  7. It's supposed to be like 60 next week and I am really getting the itch. But I really should wait, if it was a newer car I would feel fine, but with it being delicate 31 year old metal, I think I'm going to wait until we are for sure out of the thick of it.

Everyone at work has started to bring out their summer cars and I'm getting FOMO.

I had the center waffles repainted as well to match the wheels. Purchased some eBay red BBS center badges for them as the BMW logos were pretty beat. Really liking the combination.

I also wanted to check on the car and make sure it was still there. Good news is that there wasn’t a lake of fluids underneath, just one small spot that I’m assuming is oil.

Going to charge the battery up and maybe let it run for a little bit next week when it’s warm.

The piece of the puzzle that I have been waiting for! Konig countergram's in hyperchrome which have been backordered since October, one place got a handful in stock and I managed to grab a set. 15x8 et25 and will be running a 225/45r15 likely with an rt660 for fun.
Rears look like they will fit beautifully (IX rear end) and may have a smidge of room to go out further.
Fronts have the rim .05" off the strut tower, so I will need to space that out. May end up grabbing camber plates for the front to make things more proper and fit easier.
I'm stoked with the way they look in person!

This car is coming along nicely, it wasn't fun to drive when I got it due to clutch and various contact points, but it has been fun cleaning up all the small lingering items!

The car looked like Steel Blue for second when I first saw this picture.

you might need a 10mm spacer for the front. If I remember correctly, my first wheels for 16x8 20ET and needed a 5mm on the front to clear it.
