Guest Laishes
So I have the M50 sitting in my garage and I just found out that I won't be able to use the garage at all for the swap. So now everything is up in the air
Guest Laishes
Right now the "swap" plan is M50 longblock---> Corolla trunk
B C
whats wrong with doing it in the driveway? Monday would be a perfect day for a swap.
Guest Laishes
whats wrong with doing it in the driveway? Monday would be a perfect day for a swap. lol! my driveway too steep. But it's family stuff. So the current plan is to get the longblock out of the garage, buy ALL the parts I will need for the swap. And then bring the swap to a garage (First I have to find one... ) and do it over the course of a weekend (preferably a saturday).
B C
doing an engine swap in a weekend is pretty intense. Make sure you have competent helpers that can allow you to get multiple tasks done at once.

Rowleym
Looks like I will be the lone ranger with the only force-fed M20 around here afterall. So that PCV hose doesnt connect to the valve cover then? that would make for a massive vac. leak and cause the car to run like potatoes LIES! Our m20 was junk, but we found another one and we will still be boosting an m20

B C
You upset bassboy by not sending the M50 tps, and you paid the ultimate price. You are dead Rowley. dead. Last years ragedrifting accident in the Jetta was a fluke, this time you are really dead. KaiserRolls

johnprusinski
Nice purchase I'm excited to see the m50 go in. Good luck on getting it all swapped in a weekend. I got my M50 swap in, in a day but mine was already in an E30 so it was easier for me. If I could give some advice I would drop the subframe with the motor. It's a lot easier than trying to move the motor in and out through the top.
Guest Laishes
Does anyone know if my "stainless steel" aftermarket headers I got on my m20 currently would fit on an m50? or are the flanges totally different?
Guest Laishes
Also, would these work for my m50 swap? http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E36-323-325-328-M50-M52-STAINLESS-EXHAUST-CHROME-RACE-HEADER-MANIFOLD-GASKET-/390743020731?hash=item5afa1954bb&vxp=mtr

jc43089
Yea m20 vs m50 manifolds nowhere near the same, twice as many bolts on the m50's
KaiserRolls
I have been paged. The ones I have are short tube race land headers. If you're interested I can send you pics. They are "interesting" if you will.....
