Thats kinda how you repair dents. If its done the traditional way, its even worse because they will just use body filler and paint. If you want the beam replaced, I think you are looking at a repair insurance wont pay for, and will cost 85% more than PDR or body work.

Not sure what you mean by franchised store, I'm talking about making a claim with my auto insurance provider (Allstate).
No matter which way you go about this, you should get a few estimates. Since you collided with something, it's technically an accident. If you choose to make a claim, I'd pursue it under your "comprehensive" coverage because it was an animal. This way it might not be classified as a collision and you can potentially avoid paying a deductible.

A little context. Driving a second slower and maybe you would have hit it straight on and flipped it into your windshield. The side hit and getting away with a dented A pillar is a least worse scenario. Glad you're ok.

Window frame seems fine, but it was dark and I've been at work all day. Will give it a closer look this evening. Mirror shattered and fell out of the cover, it was dangling by the cables for the heater. That part alone is $500 without the glass, so its going to cost me something.
I honestly thought so, but the cop couldn't find it. It smacked its head against the A pillar but must have got up and walked away.
The thing is, I want it fixed properly all the way through. I had/have big plans for this car and I don't want to be disappointed by something like a bad repair or go cheap on fixing it.

    Bonus points, I have a dash cam and got footage of the little turd. Go 46 seconds in to see it. Please don't share this though;

    Great turnout, 100+ cars.

Nice e39 m5 there. No tire spinning at the start line though, boring! Sounded awesome.

A few other e30s in attendance.

This G37 surprised the hell out of me. He drove it hard, it was faster than my e30 by a lot!

Tow Mater! (yes he raced! lol)

    mmm white.

This would have been a cool shot if you could see the hills and miles of colorful trees...

    Represent!

Still beautiful out there even with the rain.

It cleared up a little on my way home so I found some color.

I'd say there's a difference between driven hard and abused. I drive the shit out of my car but I wouldn't say it gets abused. There's a certain level of care that has to go above and beyond what's normal if you're going to drive a car hard.

Yeah, after figuring out it was him, my hope that it had been well taken care of went right out the window.

I think I'm gonna have to compression test this one on the stand before doing anything else... and look up the return policy.

I finally saved up enough $$$$ and picked up an engine from a local junkyard.

It came out of a 2008 335i 6MT with 91,223 miles. The car was hit pretty hard on the driver's side, so I'm not worried about flood damage or anything like that. It was also modified, so I'm hoping it was taken care of by an enthusiast.
I've noticed all index 11 injectors, an RB PCV valve/cap, and it looks spotless under the oil cap. No sludge, grime, buildup, or discoloration. Hoping this is a sign of frequent oil changes.
Hoping to start tearing the car apart so I can remove the blown motor and swap everything over before the end of the year!

No detonated axels, or any other mechanical issues that I'm aware of. The turnout wasn't huge, probably because of the weather, but also the length of the drive and location. If you live an hour (or more) away and factor in the drive time to and from the cruise it gets to be a lot of driving, so I can't blame anyone for not showing up. Still, I thought the route was great, and it was good to spend some time hanging out as always. 👍

Thanks to Jason for hosting the meeting point and for everyone that came out! I certainly enjoyed getting back together with you guys and meeting Lars and Peter.

Im sure the weather forecast scared some people away but it wasn’t bad at all. Just some damp roads and a few light sprinkles which Dan didnt hesitate to get a little sideways while a parked cop was in view (did you see them by the onramp?) The low clouds looked awesome though.

    Here’s Boosty McBoostleaks

This morning I drove to the store and it didnt feel nearly as strong as the last time i drove it maybe a year ago. It didnt seem to be making any boost and must have some big boost leak. The first WOT attempt resulted in limp mode. Any of the M42 guys would have outrun this thing easily.

Somewhere closer to Devil’s Lake it felt like it was starting to make boost and finally started putting you back in the seat when you got on it, still not all there though. N54 life.

Apparently the camera is lava: Sammi ran and hid behind the civic, Jason didnt make it in time.

Sounds like a plan. I will be there overnight, so (lurkers and all others) if you are early, don't be afraid to ring the doorbell and wake me up. If the weather happens to be a drizzle or less, I will have the main garage door open.
O YELLOW -You can park anywhere in the yellow as seen below.
O GREEN- marker is my doorbell which is between both my shop door and garage door
O BLUE - is overflow parking(I doubt this happens)
O PINK - Please do not park here as I will ask you to move. This business is a nail salon and will be open.

Don't jinx it! The rest of us like their injectors wastegates and water pumps exactly how they are.
Also I got it to do turn by turn a week ago but I forget how, I'll play with it again.

Well, I suck and ended up selling this for $4k more than I paid.
Afterwards, I went down to Chicago and picked up this 335i with 130k miles. It has cold weather package, premium package and lighting package, along with a better color combo in my opinion. A few nice options like Logic7/HiFi, electric memory lumbar seats, sunroof, sport steering wheel and suspension, etc. The exterior is in mint condition, minus the passenger-side headlight that needs some attention. It's honestly in excellent condition for a 2007 vehicle.

I tried to see how the downloaded map works with google maps. I wasn't able to get it to run turn by turn navigation with it. I was only able to see the route and my current position on the route. Not ideal but at least everyone has a chance to see the route and meeting point, and look it up on the phone for reference.
Let me know if anyone coming from the East wants to drive to Jason's shop together, I will be piloting a borrowed 335i and who knows how many injectors, wastegates, and electric water pumps will fail on the way over

Pretty bad lol.  I mean, as far as this list goes though it's towards the top because they're less bad than the other turds.  At least your choice actually answered the question correctly...

I wouldn't get too tied up with Dyno numbers if the car feels good and you enjoy driving it that is a win. Ask them when the last time they had their Dyno calibrated I bet they give you a blank stare. There is no substitute for the butt Dyno, a piece of paper doesn't make me feel good. Unless something is rolled up in it.

Pretty good!  A lot of n54 guys dyno with standard correction (std) so if you compare yours to others it may seem low since they used sae.  Figure another 10whp based on a 4% difference between the two.  Now on to mods!

Looks like PO already did the PE mod. And I'll take your word on the mufflers and leave them alone lol, I have lots to learn about modding this thing and advice is one of the reasons I come here.
Case and point, your first suggestion just arrived today. I'll take it for a spin tomorrow to try it out since my car cover disappeared somehow anyway, I'll need a new one to keep birds away...

    Well, I guess I'll start.
Not sure what to post, but I suppose I could give a bit of background info on myself and my car. I'm a freshman at MSOE right now, mechanical engineering, and I'm originally from Madison where I met Chris a few years ago and was introduced to the forum.
I've got a 1989 325i vert that I've slowly been bringing back from neglect. It had the rear suspension and driveshaft components refreshed/replaced last winter, and the head rebuilt with new cam/rockers/valve springs in June due to a broken valve spring. I've done a lot of interior refreshing as well, along with new tires and some other little things.
Oh, and it's Alpine White, which seems to be a thing around here.
Not sure where I'm going to go with it from here, probably gonna refresh the front suspension, maybe a manual swap, and maybe spring for a x-brace, but who knows with college and all that.
