Iceddragon reacted to Jdesign in Let's see where the magic happens *garage photos*
Here are those mats installed and already dirty from doing the clutch on a TDI. Oddly satisfying to walk around on. Totally worth it.
Having a monitor with all the cameras in view is awesome. I mentioned this in the other thread but meant to post here about the security cameras. $100 for 4 WiFi color night vision cameras is the best thing ever. Crime isn’t bad where I’m at, but just a piece of mind and being able to see the shop when I’m not there from just an app on my phone is awesome.
I also picked up this vintage fridge from a buddy that does pinstripping. I plan on painting it, and using it to replace a fridge that just died last week.

Ask the painter how soon you can seal the paint (wax or something else). They usually want you to wait a certain amount of time
And yes don’t touch wet paint

I don't see why not but the notice for the new recall won't be going out until Mid - December. I don't know about others experience with the Takata recall but I had to wait 2 weeks for my appointment so if that's common then you may be waiting until January to get the airbag done.

Day 5 of repairs, its the weekend and I wanted to go for a drive. Remembered I don't have my car, took the Honda instead. When I got home I decided to park it like a BMW to amuse myself.
Expecting the car back this Wednesday or Thursday.

Lol the A pillar isn't a panel, it's part of the car. It can't simply be unbolted.
Like Snap said, take some before pictures so you have something to show buyers who question the accident on CarFax. This way you have evidence that it was a minor deer hit, not a major accident.
Also, my insurance agent said my rates wouldn't go up either... liars. Good luck!

Hopefully they blend the new paint in well. Don't want the car looking like kt belongs to Two Face=P

I’d suggest getting a few good photos of the damage for when you sell the car in case a potential buyer asks about it. Then you can say “look, ya dickhead, tis merely a flesh wound”

Sounds like a good outcome. Its amazing the slightest of dents the bodywork guys can detect. One of my cars got rear ended and it blew my mind what miniscule ripples and such they pointed out on the quarter panels that I would have never detected

Will do, so far so good. They're a little more stiff than stock, but the car feels much better around corners. I'm happy with them.
New wheels went on last night.

Lol, he tipped me off to them. The Alzors were too cheap to pass up. I had planned on lowering this car because it needed suspension, but these Solowerks were also fairly priced for the good reviews. I was going to go with some FKs or STs, but wanted to give these a shot at $575 shipped.

Here’s an update with the car. She’s coming along beautiful, wheels refinished and a nice detail and she’s done.

It's not public (unlisted), but I see where you're coming from.

You can put a video up private so no one can search it unless the link is shared.

Yeah I'm not showing it to anyone, that's why I asked you guys not to share it. I definitely saw it and turned my hazards on while showing down, I wish you could hear that instead of the music.
But thanks for all the advice, another new car thing to learn I guess

I love V8s so I hate nature. For this reason I ran the playback of the deer getting smashed by German steel about 30 times as I sit here smiling smugly drinking my coffee. It's a small price to pay, my friend, but we all need to do our part to control the deer population on the road. I salute you.

Looks like the deer's insurance agent is around for questioning this morning....
-
Iceddragon reacted to suspenceful in New ride
I doubt the deer's insurance agent is going to assume 100% fault for him/her. Neither vehicle being occupied is what saved you there. He can go through the process and see what happens, but at least he's better informed now. I've given my best advice based on my own personal experiences.

^This
Wisconsin is an "at fault state" (tort system) and you are always somewhat responsible because you were there.

Yup, I think pretty much no matter what if you make a claim they raise your rates. I smacked a deer around two years ago and insurance totaled my e30, I now have an 'accident' on my record and my rates went up (and are still up, likely will be for a long time) even though It wasn't my fault since the deer came sprinting across the road. It was worth it for me because I got a good payout on the car even after buying it back. If your deductible is large enough that you'd be getting a grand or less to cover the repairs I would not make the claim and just pay it out of pocket. You can probably get a door and mirror in the right color used, and then PDR the A-pillar like others have mentioned. It will never be 'as new' again, but it'll be very close and after a little while you'll never notice it.

Just some Still Dre, nothing to be ashamed about. Classic song.
I wish you the best of luck in this endeavor. Sadly, when I talked to my insurance agent, they said I will be partially at fault no matter what because I hit something and I was behind the wheel. Maybe you will have different results.
