UUC Evo 3 SSK installed. Unfortunately, the DSSR could not be installed as the shift knuckle off the back of the trans was the wrong one, thought my car had the right one, but guess not. Poly bushings where the bitch clips inserts and Turner poly carrier bushing were also installed. Shifter feels super tight, notchy, directional. Was worried the throw was going to be too short for my liking, but this is the perfect amount for my driving style.

Only issues are that the shifter in neutral sits at maybe a 10-15 degree tilt towards the passenger side, not a huge deal, but a little annoying. Another thing, and maybe this is me only used to driving cars with factory shifters, is the 1-2 throw feels a little more difficult. If I had to rate the 1-2 throw, it would be maybe 4.5-5 out of 10 in terms of effort needed. Where as the others are more like a 3-3.5, compared to stock which I would say was like a 2-2.5. Only other thing, is that the ZHP weighted knob must not fit the profile of the shifter itself as it has maybe 5 degrees of rotational play in it. It doesn’t feel like it would come off, but it’s a little annoying that it rotates a little, and makes a little bit of clacking when going through the gears.
UUC did not include the six Allen head bolts that connect the collar to the carrier arm, so I bought some Phillips screws of the same pitch. They were a little longer than the ones that would have been included, so they had to be shimmed with some washers so the screws wouldn’t contact the ball the shifter pivots on. My only thought as to why the couple of things might be out of whack.
Overall, very pleased with it, even without the DSSR, it feels extremely tight and directional. For me, this car exceeds at the warm summer evening, back road, sunset country cruise with the radio(Bluetooth speaker in my case) playing some good tunes. Really hard to beat.

All kidding aside, I have a long list of cars that I want, but what you want and what you need are two different things. There are a few non-car-related goals i’m aiming for that influenced my decision to sell and once the dust settles i’ll see where i’m at and what makes sense at that point.

Milestone hit!  The car crossed 90k this past weekend!  I also got my new tires installed yesterday, thanks again @SteelBluefor hooking me up with Vredestein!
First impression of the tires when I saw them was "Yup, looks like an all season."  The sidewall looks nice and the tread pattern looks good.  Lot's of locking squiggles in the tread blocks to help dry performance and reduce flex in the tread blocks.  I took them on my shakedown route and they performed better than I expected for an all season tire!  These provide more grip than anyone needs on the street.  Pushing them at pace on the road they never felt like they were going to give up grip.  Coming hot into a roundabout and the front pushed a little as I made the quick steering input from right to left but it was predictable for this car and caused no brown moments.  The rear grips just fine coming on the throttle out of corners and didn't display any unexpected oversteer.  The ride is comfortable but I wouldn't say it's any better than the Pzero's I took off which is to say both tires were competing with my exhaust for noise level so it's irrelevant.
If you are driving past this tires limit on the street then you're driving like an asshole.  I'll run them at a track/autox just to see how they handle but I have no expectation that they'll be on the same level as the Pzero or PSS.

    UPDATE.
Sorry for the lack of updates. This last 2 weeks have been a super hard push to get the car done for an event on the 30th for testing.
That being said there is a long story to get into about the tune, but first... I finished wrapping everything but the modded rear diffuser along with spending a Saturday morning putting down some gtequnick HALO ceramic coat for wrap.
Super hyped on the way this thing is looking with bigger lips and all one color!

I also forgot to mention that I had the trunk worked on, a friend was able to make it ALOT nicer than it was with lots of sanding and a re-clear. Not perfect but its alot better looking!

I also installed the aero wolf mirror visors I have been hoarding for a year.

And here is the engine bay with all the body panels surrounding it. 😊

I also got another pair of lips in so I mounted those up on another pair of weds kranze Cerebus 2s.

I ordered and mounted a fire extinguisher bracket FINALLY. I always had the extinguisher but since putting in the cage and interior I needed a bracket.

Just need to get a pull keychain.

I also drew up and printed some inserts for the rear bumper slides to take care of the M3 bumper sag issue.

They aren't perfect and need some work but they will work for now and creating an entire bumper slide bracket is out of the question time wise right now lol
    Before.

    After.

    NOW.
ALOT of shit has happened with the tuning/troubleshooting but this is the best I can type it out.
The original tune with the supercharger came from Classic Daily (CD). It barely started the car on cold starts and took atleast 4 tries and the car ran like absolute shit. The throttle response was super lazy but I was able to drive the car but there were some spots that it was sluggish and leaned way out.
Talking to the tuner from CD we did all kinds of diagnostics including smoking for vacuum leaks, checking fuel pressure and even bypassing the charger by putting the maf straight off the throttle body.
Nothing really solved the problem and showed a definite smoking gun.
The only thing that made me 100% sure of the tune being the problem was I could take my old DME with the n/a m54b30 with b30 manifold tune plug it in and the car would start, run and respond better to throttle LMAO
So I hit the internet searching for the best options and the quickest as there is essentially less than 2 weeks before the first event I will be driving.
I found a tuner that has good reviews, is communicating super well and we began communicating/sending tunes on Wednesday the 19th. Today is Saturday the 22nd and I already have been sent a new basemap, taken some data logs of driving and idling and sent them off for revisions. 😊🤘
Now that that's out of the way the final update goes along with the tuning.
The injectors I got with the kit are green seimens deka of some sort. All we can find online is that they are from a Mercedes. No part number on the injectors. SO I got a set of maroon? Seimens dekas from a friend they are still 440cc injectors but they have part numbers and good info on dead times online.

Swapped them out on Friday along with uploaded the first base map then drove and data logged today! (Saturday)

Now we wait for the map revisions and hope the remote process continues as smoothly as it has so far!

I lied, cancelled my Continental order earlier this week because @SteelBluehooked me up with Vredestein tire for a set to demo!  I'm getting a set of Hypertrac from them in 275/35r19 and 255/35r19.  They're a company out of the Netherlands and have been producing tires for the European market for over 100 years and launched in the U.S. last year with tires developed specifically for the North American market.  The reviews so far have been very positive so I'm excited to give them a try!
I'm hoping to have them on before Autox on 5/23 so they'll be put to the test quickly!

    SteelBlue reacted to pointofdeparture in 1985 BMW 535i (E28) Euro-spec import - $11,500 (MKE)
The time has come; I am selling my prized 1985 535i.
I will likely be moving across the country for work later this year; I love this car and have invested countless hours and a lot of dollars, but I also feel like I've accomplished just about everything I set out to do with it. It will be a lot easier to move without a third car and a bunch of parts to bring along, and I would also like to take on a project with a different flavor after the move is complete.

There is a very detailed thread on MyE28 that covers my ownership of the car if you would like to know the whole story. Otherwise, the Cliff's Notes:
    E28 BMW 535i (German market), 07/1985 production, code DC11 (G265 5-speed manual, "green" M30 w/oil cooler)
    VIN WBADC110401255321
Per BMW Classic group archives: "VIN 1255321 was manufactured on July 03rd, 1985 and delivered on July 10th, 1985 to the BMW dealer Eber in Heidenheim/Brenz, Germany. The original colour was Polaris metallic, paint code 060."

    Original options:
S300 Central locking with anti-theft system S311 ELEKTRISCHER BEIFAHRERSPIEGEL S350 Therm.insulat.glass green S403 Glass roof, electrical S410 Window lifts, electric, front S421 FEUERLOESCHER 2 KG HALON S428 Warning triangle and first aid kit S472 Armrest, front, driver/passenger S498 Headrests mechanically adjustable, rear S530 Air conditioning S915 Omission of outer-skin preservation S979 VELOURS-FUSSMATTEN VORN UND HI Current modifications:
M30B35 from 1990 535i (VIN BF11049) Dual-chamber oil spray bar mod with safety-wired banjo bolts Full Supersprint stainless exhaust system (headers, resonators, midpipe, tailpipe) Volvo 850 Design III injectors E12 15lb flywheel Single TRE fuel pump conversion Bilstein Sports with Eibach springs E34 540i brakes with stainless lines E31 spherical & Meyle HD front control arms MWrench steering box reinforcement Z3 shifter w/Garagistic DSSR Pedal box reinforcement w/welded tab BenGerman clutch pivot spring assembly M-System forged 17x8" wheels M-Tech fender flares Recaro LSB "Helios" seats Kenwood USB/Bluetooth head unit, Polk speakers, NVX under-seat subwoofer A/C delete ABS delete (the right way, with new lines run split-diagonal from the master) BMP Designs gauge pod with VDO Oil Pressure/Oil Temp/Water Temp gauges M-Tech coarse spline steering wheel (EXTREMELY rare) The good:
Car runs and drives excellent, and is very fast. Needs absolutely nothing mechanically. Virtually everything has been rebuilt or replaced during my ownership. Rock solid reliable. I drove this car to California and back in 2018; only failure was a crank sensor (which I replaced on the side of the road). Over $30,000 in receipts provided with sale. I have over $10,000 in parts receipts alone from my ownership as I do all my own work. M30B35 was purchased as a ~212k runner with a blown head gasket; disassembled to the short block and re-sealed before installation, with all new timing components, oil pump rebuild, etc. Head was fully rebuilt with new parts by Extreme Speed Cylinder Heads in Oak Creek, WI. Getrag 265 gearbox was fully re-sealed when removed. Does NOT have the dreaded "death rattle" and shifts about as well as a G265 can (very "mechanical" feeling, but no grinds or notchiness). Car is set up for easy Megasquirt or other standalone install with E34 Motronic 1.3 running and a harness from an auto car with variable TPS. Lots of very rare/valuable parts. Car could easily be parted out for more than my asking price: Euro body parts (valances, bumpers, trim, lights) Euro factory oil cooler M-Tech flares Euro glass sunroof Euro rear headrests Coarse spline M-Tech wheel E34 M5 M-System forged wheels (including full size spare) Full Supersprint headers & exhaust (over $3k new) Genuine Recaro seats Bilstein/Eibach suspension Fresh, healthy, re-sealed M30B35 with professionally rebuilt cylinder head Healthy, re-sealed Getrag 265 gearbox (E30 M3 guys are paying silly money for these right now) Sale will include many bins of spare parts I have accumulated in my ownership. Title is clean and in my name. The bad:
Previous owner damage: Both front rocker jack points are crunched Car has scratches and dents from being left in a backyard for a few years, seemingly with stuff on top of it Paperwork prior to year 2000 was lost before my ownership Owner before me drove it in the winter (in Indianapolis) Car is a "10 footer". Was repainted once prior to my ownership; car now has many rock chips in addition to the scratches and dents created by previous owners and is probably due for paint again. Exact mileage on body is unknown. The original odometer broke around 280k; a previous owner elected to replace the speedometer assembly with another used one instead of fixing the gears. Then, the replacement broke (I have now fixed it). Estimated mileage on the body is ~350k based on the paperwork available and my own mileage put on the car (about 25k). Car was in a fender bender in the early 2000's. No frame damage, but evidence of core support repair is visible. Car has rust in the following areas: Bubbling on passenger side leading edge of hood Bubbling on upper leading corner of passenger side door  Minor surface rust on edge of rear wheel wells Corrosion on ~6" of inner rockers ahead of rear wheel wells Less than dime-sized hole on upper surface of rear chrome bumper. Hole in battery tray. Surface rust on ABS pump tray. Car has holes blasted in the rear valance for the federalized marker lights (since removed) Coolant temp gauge in the cluster works when it wants to. I have replaced the sender and re-flowed the solder joints and it still randomly comes and goes. The VDO gauge works 100% all of the time (and is actually calibrated) so I just rely on that. Summary:
Overall this car is in kind of a weird place. It is not a rust bucket, but it is not a cream puff. I purchased it willing to accept its flaws with the goal of having a great driver that I wouldn't be afraid to put miles on; it is all that and more. I like the term “scruffy”; it wears its 300k+ miles with pride.
Since I bought it, E28s have skyrocketed in price. I was not expecting that. Euro 535i cars are very rare, and this one is particularly desirable as an '85 with the G265 trans, oil cooler, etc. An enterprising new owner with paint/body skills could do a proper restoration on this and likely make their money back to have a ~$40-50k car.
Another option would be to find a clean southern U.S. shell (or something like a clean Euro 518i) and swap all the Euro/performance/rare parts over. The individual parts that make up this car are EASILY worth my asking price relative to buying everything individually.
Finally, there is no reason not to just keep the car together and drive the wheels off of it! It gets looks, compliments, and thumbs up everywhere it goes, and people seem to appreciate that the car is a little scruffy and is clearly driven regularly. My intention was to start taking the car to HPDE and hill climb events and continue having fun with it. But, with the move, plans have changed a bit.
Please note that the car does NOT have a catalytic converter equipped and the Supersprint exhaust will require one to be retrofitted to pass emissions in any area where a sniffer test or visual inspection is required.
I am asking a firm $11,500 for the car. Not interested in trades unless you have a Porsche Boxster S, Honda S2000, or Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo.
If the car does not sell locally or within the E28 community it will be going on Bring a Trailer or Cars and Bids.
I will be taking it out this weekend to fill a Google Photos album with detailed pictures. In the mean time, feel free to browse my ownership thread on MyE28.

Drove the car to Elkhart Lake Saturday as a scouting run for the up coming season. Couldn’t be more excited for RA to be 100% back this year.
While I was on my way down, I was passing through Chilton and saw a woman waving me down just past the Kwik Trip. Wasn’t sure if it was a wave for the car or if I was doing something wrong, or something wrong with the car. Turned out it was the lady that I bought the car from. She texted me and we agreed to meet into New Holstein which is only 10 mins past Chilton.

She was thrilled with the condition of the car and loved that it was with someone who cared about. It was really nice to catch-up and show the status of the car. Also, the odds of seeing her in Chilton on a Saturday morning...
Looking into a getting a steam cleaner to do undercarriage and engine bag detailing. Dry ice blasting is the future, but I will settle for steam for the time being.

Since everyone else on here has white coupes I figured I'd join the crew!

I was sitting in Oregon on a job site and came across a posting for an E30 from Cali, claimed one owner vehicle, with some mediocre pictures.
Chatted with the seller, got more pics, a video or two, and I sent him some money to hold the car for me to arrive. Two days later I show up to his place in California with a trailer, worked out a deal, and left with the least rusty E30 I've ever seen.
I was surprised on arrival to find two spots on the exterior with clear coat gone, but only on the hood and trunk which is easy enough to work with.

Service record of one shop its whole life, original owner on the title, and I've now become the second registered owner of it.
Every vin tag matches, one or two door dings on the whole car, it is astounding.

    So what's the plan?
This is my long haul project car, the culmination of everything I've learned from working with E30's over the years. I am in no rush to get this completed as I want every facet of it to be exactly what I've desired. The intent is to completely remove the interior and replace it (interior is mediocre and tan) with black/grey things and custom seats that I've been working on. Driveline will be the S52 from my other E30, in a shaved and repainted engine bay. Suspension will be a hybrid of what I've got in my blue e30 and a mix of new parts.

I promise this is (one) of the last E30's I will own...

California is always scenic, ft. E30 and Titan with lightweight clear coat mods.

    Daily mods continue.
M Sport front bumper and projector angel eye headlights. Bumper was needed regardless with how chewed up my original one was. Body shop lost my headlight washer covers, so waiting for those to be painted and then will throw those on. Really like the changed it made to the front of the car. Went with piano black M style double ribbed grilles.
Headlights were probably more of a drastic change. Not only do they look significantly better, and shave some years off the age of the car, they perform SIGNIFICANTLY better than the OEM halogens. Having fresh lenses also helps the overall appearance and some performance I'm sure.
I have the M sport side skirts, but I am having problems with the clips on the top of the skirt engaging into the car which is not allowing me to install them. Not sure if this is due to the mold of the skirt themselves, or if I am just approaching the install incorrectly. Might bring them over to my buddy who works at BMW to have him give them a go.
Next on the list will be to change the shocks and struts out as mine are probably blown or very close to it. Next mods will be probably next spring and will be the M sport rear bumper and the GTS style tail lights.
