That's a local guy, Chris Wenzel. I actually sold him my 911 this year, which he promptly sold and purchased the M5.

Finally scored a missing piece of the puzzle:
    Racing Dynamics Non M lip

Unfortunately I wasn unaware that the lip is slightly different between the two non M bumper styles so I will have to make some reliefs in the top of the lip to fit around parts of the bumper vents. The good thing is that the lip isn't perfect and needs some fixing anyways.

You can see the small semi-circle reliefs now that are for fitting around the vertical slats in the wide slat style non m bumper. Those will be filled in as well.

Finally decided it got to the point where it was time to make a build thread for what started as a 1984 318i E30. After ice racing an E30 325i for a couple years and spending a afternoon at a Club Fr drift day up in Shawano I decided it was time to build another for drifting and driving around every once an awhile. Went down to Chicago and pickup up what was supposed to be a 1984 318i m10 turbo car with a bad mega-squirt ecu. After seeing the wiring nightmare, i ordered a brand new mega-squirt ecu and wiring harness. Not up and running by the next drift day i was once again a spectator, but found a fellow who claimed to have ton of experience wiring mega-squirt and agreed to wire the car up and give it a base tune. Three months after dropping the car off at his shop and not being able to get it running correctly he was paid and car was picked up. After hours of trouble shooting and taking to a couple different places i became impatient and a deal on a m50 swap came up and i pulled the trigger and that is were the journey began.
The day the car got back to the shop

Being that 1984 E30s came with drum brakes the first step was cleaning up the backup E30 disk brake set-up from the ice racing E30. Decided to put the Revshift bushing kit in while it was already out. Also ordered K-Sport drift spec/ true rear coilovers

Between the spring rates the coil overs were build to and being form 1984 i decided it wouldn't be a horrible idea to support the rear strut towers.(support was fulled stitched together, sealed and painted after the picture)  I also build and welded support plate onto the control arm that sit on the outside of the coil over but don't have a picture as of right now. Also having a pair of front struts from a 1990 325i the struts were cut up and front coilovers weld on along with new wheel bearings.

With the suspension done the car was sent out to be wired  and that's where the m10 turbo dreams took a turn (the setup is still sitting on a pallet at my shop). Decided to finish cleaning up the bay before starting the m50 swap.

Then i turned my attention to the m50 swap. Again being a 1984 I had to build an adapter to from square fuse box plug to the circle that came on later year E30's. Decided to upgrade to the z3 steering rack while the sub-frame was out. Bolted the motor and trans to the sub frame and dropped the car down onto it. After some Ecu troubles the swap started right up and was good to go.

Bought some second hand Corbeau fx1 seats that my buddy had in his Mk2 Gti, modified the brackets to work in an  E30, built a harness bar, and mounted and plumbed the ASD handbrake, and fitted some wheels.

Spent the next week buttoning everything up for the car and finished just in time to take one test drive before taking the car to it's first Club Fr event. Besides a vacuum leak towards the end of the day the car ran and drove flawlessly for the rest of the season.

As summer ended i went to school and didn't want to drive this or my beat up truck and wondered across a Felony form e36 m3 for a steal so that became my new college commuter.

As winter came and it was time to start driving the truck again, i decided it would be a great idea to replace the S50 from the M3 with the M50 from the E30. Once i had both motor out i found people asking to buy the car as a roller and was given an offer i could not refuse. I ended up making $500 more than i paid for the car and kept the motor, trans, ecu, wiring harness, drive shaft and couple other bit and pieces from the car. I decided the money i got from selling the car was going straight back into the E30. Decided to boost the S50. Ill let the pictures take over from here. The M50 was used for mock up while the bottom end of the S50 was at the machine shop. The machine shop ran the motor through a couple heat cycles to break everything in. Have a lot of little parts that i will include pictures of later when everything starts going together.

The whole interior was stripped out including the sun roof frame, wiring the slimmed down to everything but the necessities and the roll cage build started. I have everything finished besides making the gussets for the A-pillar bars. Also the trunk was prepped and primed

That brings us to the present, as of right now i am just taking my time prepping the inside to be painted and prepped. Hoping to finish it up this weekend and having it primed and painted all one color. Stay tuned!

Called Aeromotive to order - ended up talking to Brett their tech director - they sent me one for free to repair.  Piece of cake to replace.
Unscrew the big top Allen screw as much as possible to relieve pressure on the internal spring.  Take the 4 screws off to remove the top portion - the diaphragm is sandwiched between the top/bottom piece - replace and reassemble (take note of internal top/bottom cap orientation).  There are YouTube videos to show how as well.

Looks like the exact same FPR I'm running.... Which was leaking internally (out the vacuum port) and back filled the entire vacuum manifold and all the lines... Which then started filling the intake runners.

I thought it was a leaking injector. 😒

My posts are random and Kind of all over the place but I am just kind of adding from pictures I have in my phone. I found these cans online for a killer deal. $35 each. Coolant overflow, PD reservoir, and a nice catch can(which I need badly due to the valve covers that came on this motor have no baffles in them). I need to make or buy some.

This is a hilarious, yet not so hilarious spoiler. I bought this wing a few years back and was always to much of a wuss to drill into my trunk too mount it. Well...... when we had my car on the lift in Chubs shop, you can only lift a car when the garage door is closed(obvious interference issues) Well, Chubs hearing isnt the best, and I wasnt paying attention but we manged to lift the car into the garage door completely twisting the door and bending the frame. My car on the other hand only suffered minor injuries..a small scratch no bigger than a nickel. I had just the solution to cover up our mishap......
Wide band and digital boost gauges installed. The third hole will have a Oil pressure gauge to match once I order one. For now its ghetto access to my phone charger.

IAT sensor!!!! This is kind of an important part. Right now I have been driving the car and it has no idea what the intake temp is. Idle is all over and its prolly affecting my fuel ratio as well. I had to order one of these because I lost mine. Oddly enough, this little bugger is nearly impossible to find. Its very uncommon for them to fail, and its not compatible with any other motor or car. I was lucky that there was one on ebay.

My downstar! Intake manifold mod. I needed to plug the hole in the intake manifold for my missing IAT, so until now, this is what I had in its place. sadly I have an IAT now so this crusty addition will be removed.

YASSSSSS!!! I was waiting to get this over a month before I even started my car. I have been having a misfire and really bad breakup problems and I have reason to believe this will be the solution. I have a large Walbro fuel pump (255) and a stock regulator. The car is running extremely rich to the point I was starting to worry I might be washing the cylinders. Although I dont have a gauge on the stock rail and regulator, I am certain the pressure is through the roof. I came to this consensus one day when I had the pump running but the car was off. When I went to start the car, tons of unburnt fuel came through the exhaust. This leads me to believe the the pressure is being built up so high that fuel is pushing past the injectors. I read online where there was another guy with a 1jz in a supra and he had the exact same issues as me and was running a larger than stock fuel pump on a stock regulator.

I happened across one of these in a local salvage yard. The drivers side is the one I found as you can tell its not for a projector headlight assembly. I had to cut a hole in it, but it looks alot better than the back of the ellipsoids.

On the passenger side you can see there is a bulge for the back of the projector headlight.

I really need to put this ugly battery in the trunk. I have since painted it black because its a giant eyesore, but its a brand new Northstar battery and I got it for a great price. If anyone needs a battery, I know a guy.

Ha! more randomness, but I had some extra time after work so I started sketching my car. I will upload a better revision of it later once I get further along. I am thinking of having prints made if anyone is interested.

I picked these up last week. I got a tip from a fellow member on here. I wont give away his name but it rhymes with pearl. I hope to have tires on them this week so I can take the cheap Varostones or whatever they are off of my car and put them back on my civic.

I've always felt like an outcast with my E46 and E82 because WIBimmers seems to have a chub over late 80's and early 90's BMWs.
This has been causing me to lose sleep lately because I just feel like I don't fit in.
I was cruising Craigslist yesterday morning (with no intentions of buying a car) and stumbled across an ad for a "BMW E30". Started texting the guy and shared the ad with two of my friends (SteelBlue and GunMetalGrey). I jokingly asking if they'd want to chip in and have a random project car to share. Ben (GunMetalGrey) has too many E30s already and wanted nothing to do with it. But Eric (SteelBlue) said he'd go halfsies on it with me. We both have wanted E30s for a while now, but haven't ever had the opportunity to buy one.

What you want to know: 1987 325is with 190k and some sort of red interior. Kentucky car so it isn't completely rusted away. Has a cool looking steering wheel and the dash is only cracked in two spots. It's a complete car but doesn't currently drive.
What you don't care about: The transmission and driveshaft have been pulled because the trans broke. Currently in search of a transmission for an M20. Or a T56 for an LS swap. Oh, and there is a massive dent in the passenger side that we'll try to pop out. There's a good chance we'll fuck that up and make the dent look worse.
Immediate plans: Learn about E30s. Get a transmission. Put it in. Hope the car works. If so, do a burnout. Sleep that night dreaming about it loping at idle with a cammed LS under the hood.

TDLR; I finally picked up an E30 in hopes that I'll be accepted among this community. It's half mine and half Eric's.
...that's a lie and the real reason we bought this is because we've both always wanted an E30. I now own 3 BMWs, this might be a problem.

Using -16 AN fittings I sized, and then resized the coolant hoses for the radiator. The upper outlet needed one sensor for the 1jz coolant temp (this sensor controls idle and tune) and one BMW sensor for the factory temp gauge on the dash.

The space needed for the sensors, and the distance for the hoses was extremely close and it made for a really tricky install.
