REKIII reacted to HipMF in chit chat thread
Finally got a lens on the new camera. It's not bad. Pictures are definitely sharper than my old Nikon. The Nikon was never very impressive in that regard. I'm interested to see how it does in low light once I get a faster lens on it.
Coke for scale.
Best shot from my government allotted 20 minutes of outdoor exerciser.
The pancake lens seems pretty good so far, but it makes some really wonky bokeh balls. Guess you can't have it all. Probably not an issue since it's not fast enough to create a shallow depth of field anyway.

Just to add to the reality. I found out this morning a good friend of mine in Sweden just died from Covid -19. He was very healthy and a fellow martial artist in his 60s. We've trained together over the decades in Japan and the US. He came down with high fever and difficulty breathing about two weeks ago. His wife rushed him to the hospital where he was placed on oxygen. His condition improved a bit and all signs pointed to recovery. But then he rapidly declined. His wife was called to the hospital today and she manged to be with him at his side when he died. She just let us know.
There will be varied perspectives on the virus and the response, models and projections, proposed cures and snake oil, opportunism and professionalism, frustration and fear, just to name a few. I just wanted to take a moment to share my hope that no more friends, family, and other folks I know die. I'm up to three so far--one of each--which yes is small percentage of all the folks I know. I hope that your numbers also stay low.

Yep, I did say worst case prediction. Sorry, I misspoke.
All numbers are made up based on projections on things thought to be fact. That's how I know they are made up. The powers that be chose things to use as a baseline to make really high numbers so that it would instill fear. At first, this was done for a good reason, it had to be done to control the populace for what they thought was the best course of action. It also got people like you on board that blindly says, 'yep, those numbers look right to me' and it get's you to say to anyone like me who question them 'WHAT THE FUCK, DO YOU WANT EVERYONE TO DIE!!!???!?!' so it was a win win to do it that way.
If the world or this country devolves into something a kin to a third world hellhole, than yes, that is worse than death. People for the last hundred years have worked too hard and sacrificed too much for that to happen. 'normal' is relative. Normal is what you want it to be. Social distancing, locked in my house, seeing unemployment at over 25% is not a normal I want to be part of. It is absolutely insane that anyone would be content with that. And there are lots of people who are. They think that suckling on the governments teet is what everyone should do with glee.
Make myself a martyr? Ha, no, scrub me from the history books, or leave me in as something akin to Satin. I don't care, it is a feeble gesture to show how serious I am. And, yes, if it takes out my family and everyone I love, so be it. My little group is a small insignificant part of the whole.
If you want to operate on what-ifs and maybes, that is your deal, but you are wanting me, and everyone else to do it to. For how fucking long? Dane county just extended 'Safer at home' until July 12th. JULY FUCKING TWELFTH!!!! That is absolutely retarded.
Start the country back up. Let us do what we need to do to survive.

So.....people are getting frustrated because it's working? The numbers tell whatever story we want them too. So do the unemployment numbers, the bankruptcy numbers, the numbers of cars lined up at the food banks, suicide numbers, the numbers of farmers dumping product, numbers numbers numbers. What everyone is trying to do, is make anyone, like me, look like an asshole when we look at ALL the numbers instead of just the very very small numbers relating directly to Covid infections and deaths.

Bring on the second fucking wave. So sick of this shit. The cure is worse than the virus at this point, and the cure is some half assed 'we think this will help' bullshit.
Tear me apart for lack of compassion. Fine. All I see is over a 1/4 of the Wisconsin workforce out of work. That is not cool, not healthy, not for the better good.

An inside source told me I was being talked about. You guys know I faked my own death, right?
Haven't been up to much really. I just made my volvo slightly prettier. Other than that I'm gonna buy a house and maybe fix the exhaust on my ti.

The only way I know what day is what is based on my responsibility to either drop off or pick up the kids from daycare. Mondays are a bit confusing because everyone is home and Wednesday Thursday are the same schedule. So what I'm saying is I can tell you when it's Tuesday or Friday.

No. Please pick one side or the other, communicate in your personalized online echo chamber, and whatever you do, do not listen to any differing opinion towards your own whatsoever.
Thank you,

I’d make it 12-15 feet even without the threat of a virus

It's a numbers game. A virus/plague/whatever has a lifespan. The safer at home order SLOWED it's spread, not stop it. The flattening of the curve simply spread the cases out over a longer period of time so the hospitals could keep up. So, yes, I supposed # of deaths could be reduced because we wouldn't run out of ventilators.
Well....short answer, yes. Most things a government does is under the guise of protecting you. They say it's for the best. Granted it's not a james-bondish as you are insinuating, but a great political statement is 'never let a tragedy go to waste' both sides use events to further their agenda to further their political careers, etc. If something does help the public, it's by chance.
Why did Evers extend to the end of May? To protect us, right? Ha, no. That is what he tells the news for sound bites, but it's this: He's a Democrat, and both houses of the state govt are controlled by Repubs. So, he only has authority to keep us locked down for 60 days. This expires on May 11th. By extending to the 26th, he forces the repubs to vote on enforcing it or repealing it. If they enforce it, he gets to blame the repubs for the failing economy, if they repeal it, he gets to blame them for any deaths after the 11th. It's truely a genius political move. If the roles were reversed the repubs would have done the same thing. All politicians are disgusting and the one thing they have in common is that none of them have your best interest in mind.

The funny thing, is phase 1 won't even start until the mid-end of June. They already cancelled school for the rest of the year.
The whole point of this was to Flatten the curve. NOT reduce deaths. The same exact number of infections and deaths occur under the tall curve or flattened curve. We are past overwhelming our hospitals. Open the state, restart the economy. if it isn't you are only further flattening the curve, not saving anyone, at the cost of a lot of peoples livelihoods.

It looks like even after the safer at home order extension is satisfied May 26th that there will be multiple phases that require certain metrics be met to begin opening things back up.

This is neat. Mega miles, but seems pristine. Perfect color combo too.
