  1. Took it for a little test drive yesterday afternoon after bleeding the brakes again while activating the ABS/DSC pumps.  It stops!!

While on test drive I took the dirty girl through the car wash!  It feels good to see this outside!

Last night, we popped in the M5 fuel pump.  Had to swap over the 540i top to keep the barbed fitting as the M5 has a quick disconnect.

Swapped the mirror motor pins on the driver's side so pin 1 has the blue wire and pin 2 has the white wire so both door modules matched pin locations.  This corrected the mirrors folding opposite ways when you hit the button.

Bled the clutch again,  The feel is still not 100% but it drives.

Felt it was time to add the fresh M badge on the motor!

Counting down the days to the exhaust shop!

  2. Finished up the cruise control, clutch interlock and M5 fuel pump relay wiring.  Mike added a proper ground for the fuel relay.

Pulled the fuel relay and cranked it over a couple times to prime the oil.  Popped the relay back in and fired it up on the first try!

Bled the clutch and brakes.  Brakes felt great until we hit the gas a spun the rear wheels then the pedal went to the floor.  We think it has something to do with the DSC pump not being bled properly.

Started buttoning up the interior and finished the cabin filters and new M5 rear wire harness covers.

    So close to being done!!

  3. Got the topside wired up, sport button and servtronic!

Need to pop in new style fuel pump relay. Have run a ground wire to it and move a pin on the 540i female side of connector and the new style relay will be good to go.

Pin 2 wires behind the cluster.  One to the DME for reverse lights and the other to the clutch switch.

Changed the trans fluid. Added oil. 10w60 liqui moly.

Need to top off coolant, power steering fluid and bleed brakes/clutch.

    Getting close!!

  4. Sport button is wired up from the dash to the DME.  Hijacked some steptronic wires for this. Blue & grey and blue & yellow wires. Swapped pins and we should be good!

Fuel leak diagnostic and Brake light test switch are wired up.

Hopefully we will get the rest of the wiring done tonight!

  5. I usually take the Black Pearl out for closing days.  Today is one of those!  Closing on a Sussex condo this afternoon!

I've been getting a flickering oil pressure light that has turned to just being on all the time.  My VDO oil pressure gauge has remained consistent so I thought some wiring bugs have peaked out.  This morning, I dug through my nest of wires and coolant hoses to get to the oil pressure sending unit on the motor to see it was all oily.  Popped it out and threw on the the sending unit that was on my s54 sitting next to me.  Popped it back in, started it up and no light!   Success!!!

I had to look up what servtronic was, curious to hear your thoughts on how it changed the steering assist.

I'm excited to see how much it tightens the steering up.  I had a guy, Paul, in Michigan do the tuning.  Here is what he did:

    -Ews delete
    -Top speed limit removal
-Rev limit and dyno rev limit increase to 7150
    -Rear o2 delete
-Sap code delete but can leave the sap process on if you plan on running it.
    -Sport mode memory
-Make sport mode more linear throttle
-Sport mode steering slightly lighter at low parking lot speeds so not so stiff
    -Jailbreak Tune
  7. Installed:

-Dinan short shifter, rear Turner Motorsport bushing and new OEM bushings

    -M5 fuel lines and filter

    -Servtronic solenoid

Ran some trans wiring and called it a day.

Mike is going to get after it tonight!  Probably will get the clutch line and pedal assembly in.  Hopefully driveshaft as well.

  8. M5 Diff, axles swaybar and brakes are in.  Need to order new shifter bushings (one got lost in shipping) before we get the driveshaft installed.  540i auto shifter and pedal assembly are out.

    Engine bay to-do:

    - mount oil filter housing bracket to the strut tower and line up airbox mounting hole prior to drilling holes to use as a guide to where it goes.

    - radiator & reservoir, hook up hoses, fan.

    - install clutch line.

    - bleed brakes/clutch.

    - run M5 fuel lines

    - install "new" servtronic solenoid & run wires to ECU.

    - hook up power steering lines

    - install passenger side exhaust manifolds

    GOODNIGHT!

  9. A little here, a little there continues.

I had a little window this AM and got to working on the driver's side airbox area. The M5 cold air intake is now mounted behind the bumper.

ABS precharge pump lines are ran and tightened down.

Need to figure out exactly where the oil filter/PS reservoir bracket mounts.  I'll get the air filter box in there and find the sweet spot.

Mike is going to finish the rear end tonight. M5: Diff, driver's side rear brake, axles, swaybar and driveshaft are on the list.

  10. Had a little window this AM to chip away.  Relocated the ABS Precharge pump (I think that is what it's called) with an M5 bracket behind the front bumper and popped in the M5 plastic piece for the brake lines to run through and driver's side air intake hole.

Need to run the M5 brake lines to the pump. One line looks like I'll need to splice in a connector on the thicker line.

Only pic I took. 540i abs mount
