Not driveable yet, but it does move under it's own power.

Open headers at the moment lol

It's kinda like that dude in terminator 2.

Looking for an unmolested manual trans harness.

Your compact doesn't have round headlights......
It's just called that, and I know the guy so I get a pass. Lol. The real requirements are kinda old and something you have had your own hands in. It's not for pebble beach cars or what people refer to as checkbook enthusiasts.

You got til September!

Remember that E3 Bavaria that I had for some reason? Well the guy who bought it is hosting a rally over in Michigan.

Looks cool, and if the compact doesnt randomly explode, I'll be attending. Any one else want to do a 2 day rally across the lake? Probably not but I figure I'd put it out there.
Basically: vintage car road rally that's cheap to enter and looks like a lot of fun.

Car runs, driveshaft is in, still have to bleed the clutch. Full update soon

Aka the summer vintage races. Between @wasnt m3 and I we have 5 campsites all in a row. Who's coming?

Once the compact is running I'll be focusing on building up the physical simulator. I'm thinking about using my E30 comfort seat. I mean, why not.

Help me help you. Cash in hand. Need one in fair shape, no crazy bends or anything. With or without control arms. No biggie.

getting close!
I can taste it. I need a rear subframe though.
I did order a DME with all the things deleted today, and I plan on buying an exhaust system instead of cobbling one together. It's just easier. Eventually I'll need a manual wiring harness so I can get rid of all the extra bits from the auto trans that was originally in the M3.
Who knew building cars was so expensive?
Anyway, gonna be hooking up all the things today, fill with fluids, see if it fires. If so, I'll probably have it driving by this weekend. If not I'll have to wait for my DME to arrive. If anyone wants to come hang out while I connect stuff, all the hard/dirty work is done. It gets lonely under the car.

I'm living proof of this theory.

Are you using a medium case diff? We ended up installing a stock 318ti driveshaft in @alexw‘s old car to fix his virbartion issues, he references J!m having some of the same issues. Everything is all in this post.
I've heard of people just using the whole thing and not having too much of an issue, so I'm going to give it a shot. If nothing else I have the ti drive shaft on standby.

Anyone doing that? Working on a simulator rig in my spare time. Add me on PSN at WIBimmers.
I'll post pics as I start building the simulator itself. Right now I have a thrustmaster T150 and pedals.

Just out of curiosity who makes the swap guide? What driveshaft are you going to run?
J!m on the 318ti forum. And I'll be using the driveshaft out of the M3.

Removable core supports seem like they make engine removal/swaps SO much easier. Sure sucks running into headroom issues then smacking the tail of the trans/shift lever on the floor while angling things in. For my M52 swap i had everything bolted to the subframe and raised it up from the bottom with a motorcycle jack.
Great progress!
are you going to rattle can the engine bay while its all out?
It's just going to be touch ups with primer. Probably wont go too crazy on the bay til winter. About that same time I plan on painting the entire interior a medium grey. Lots planned, just a matter of money and time, then execution.
