I'm (allowing my engine to breath air that is) cool finally!
Surprisingly very little contact with anything, and the 135° coupler on the intake ended up being the saving grace of this whole attempt.
Grilles fit back on, so now when I come off the highway the engine wont be completely heat soaked!

I vote to change "epic" in your thread title to "epoch"
This literary pun is far less amusing when typing it, but it's Friday and that's just where I'm at. -

Price drop
Too many vehicles sitting around the shop lately!
Looking at you @Rekpoint -
That car has had an... interesting past.
Hopefully you get it up and running, with the motor of your choosing! -

Picked up a dozen tamales and some pastor meat for tacos at Abarrotes El Primo in Sun Prairie before heading up to the shop this morning. May have reached a new high water mark as far as shop cuisine is concerned.
(Picture of delicious looking taco)
Of course this would happen on a weekend I'm gone!

A clunk like your describing has typically been worn U-joints in the driveshaft (for me).
Easy to check if it's in the air. -

It's a $4k truck, as long as it's not rotting from rust or rubbing the tire the dented fender isn't an issue.
I wasn't entirely sure where to price it, but we all know the WiBimmers price has more flex than your average joe.
The frame is indeed in very good shape, only the seams have any tell of Wisconsin use. Really no surface rust on anything underneath. It's handy.
No rubbing anywhere! -

are the rear fenders on these trucks a replaceable panel, or are they part of the box and cutting/welding would be required?
Part of the box.
The dent could be pushed out a lot better than it is, but I never got around to messing with it more than what is shown. -

$400 sounds like a deal!
That's $4,00 to you good sir! Which if we were following the metric way of life, would be $4!
Fixed that though, thanks. -
211k Miles - No large rust (Georgia truck) with a very clean frame, lil bit of surface rust here and there. Back corner had a trailer pushed into it right before I bought it.
Crew Cab with 5.5' bed, with liner, 7,500lb towing capacity. I personally have dragged around 5,500lbs of trailer and it does it very smoothly.
2x4 (Georgia things!) and honestly with 300lbs of sand in the bed it felt like driving a car on half tread snow tires. Quite a lot of fun to throw it sideways and just zip around in 12" of snow.
It is on some aftermarket wheels with good tread tires (Big O brand?) but could negotiate further for a stock set of wheels with BFG KO2's that I put on less than 6 months ago (1k in tires)
Recent maintenance: All brakes and rotors, Bilstien 5100 front shocks, KYB Gas A Just rears, front wheel bearing, lower ball joints, starter, plugs, MAF, serpentine belt, all belt idlers, new AC condenser, coolant flush, trans fluid. Basically I took care of any potential issues of it running for another 100k miles!
Superchips flashpack tuner, in winter with the tonneau cover and the MPG tune I would do about 20mpg highway. It averages better mileage than most newer trucks of people I know.
Does not burn or leak any fluids.
This has taken me out to Colorado and all over the UP without skipping a beat and had I not come across the long wheelbase one I would be driving this one for many moons yet.
WiBimmers price of $3,600 -

My suburban has a 42gallon tank, its great being able to go 700-800miles on a roadtrip without filling up! or at least 2 weeks around town. Congrats on the new purchase. Did you sell the old truck already?
That's an impressive amount of fuel! Being able to fill up when gas is lower cost is quite handy!
I have not sold the old truck yet, though it is up for sale.13 hours ago, Boris3 said:I like this suggestion. When used truck trading up, along with price range in mind, think at least 4 years newer and 50k less miles.
It wasn't my intention, but I would agree that it's a good way to go!
18 minutes ago, Rekpoint said:What kind of MPGs are you getting when towing? I'm looking into getting a smaller truck for towing. I'm currently looking at extended cab short bed 1st Gen duramaxes ideally 06-07
Haven't done any towing with the new one (same engine as the other though)
I didn't do any long distance towing with the other one so I'm not entirely sure what it did. Better than a new Tacoma though, that much I do know!
WiBimmers discount does exist on my existing Titan, crew cab.
I should just make a quick ad on the for sale section here. -
Since this is already a truck thread...
I've been keeping an eye out for one of these for a fair bit now, they do not pop up often, and when they do it comes at a premium, but this one popped up for a great price.
Introducing the new rig.08 Titan Pro-4x Long Wheelbase! Featuring an E36 that I need to sell, and a Nic with a broken hand.
But why?
4 years newer, 50k less miles, 4x4 with locking diff, 7' 3" bed, 10k lb towing capacity.
It also comes with a 37 gallon fuel tank that drains you bank account every time you need to fill it!
This thing is by far the largest vehicle I've ever driven. It comes in just shy of 20.5 feet long tip to tail, and the roof stands about 7 feet tall.
It has been lifted 6", and I will likely rework the wheels / tires with something that fits the lift better.
The extra room will be great for bike trips, as I've had to use hitch racks already on the other truck to have enough room for bikes, people, gear, and coolers.
Now to wait for the next eBay sale to get some wheels and tires... -

If you're sending those MSQ's around feel free to hit a brother up!
Also, I think I know where your oil is going. Watched the dyno pull vid and saw the let off cloud -
I like your new diagram.
The 12v while cranking is usually sent to the unloader relay chassis side. -

hmm, i see a big tire mounting gouge on one, which i thought there was on my set. coincidence!
You made me double-check, and even though they have super similar marks from mounting (c'mon tire shops!) I feel like the tires debunk the correlation.

those style 32s are getting around the block. @GunMetalGrey did you sell them to someone from MKE?
That's not the same set.
I did not sell them in MKE, they went up to MN. -
I got a ride / drove this car this weekend.
Holy balls batman, it is sweet.
The car feels so good. It is smooth, the power delivery is smooth and linear, and the chassis feels great due to all the work Mike has put into it.
And man does it rip, any gear, any rpm, you lean in the throttle and are immediately doing well over the posted speed limit.
Great work Mike!- P_Roloff, straight6pwr, patsbimmer1 and 1 other

Took the power steering fluid res out as it was seeping fluid from somewhere.
I had a spare M20 res. and hoses, but the one that runs to the rack doesn't fit anymore because I lowered the subframe and left the motor high.
The one hose I took off had a barbed fitting on the rack, so I will be getting some new hose and just using that again.
I also sold my spare motor (bare), a few extra injectors, and the problematic pump. -
-
I stood true to my word, but have been on the road for work and not updated!
The pump swap was successful, and I have concluded that I am done monkeying about with the "rebuilt" pump that I had bought, which is sad due to the amount that I have invested in it, but I gotta cut my losses.
I am now attempting to leave it alone in terms of power, and just work on improving things. Like a better intake, and adding an intercooler to the stock intake location.
I'd love to make it to the picnic, and have passed the sign on to @HipMF!- Jdesign, B C and straight6pwr

I think the Audi and Lexus Grilles are much nicer. The kidney grille concept/design just doesn't fit the gigantic proportions.
I'm not a fan of the newer Lexus grille, but they aren't as bad as the BMW stuff.
The Audi seems better because it's the style of grille they've always had.
The new BMW stuff is truly obnoxious though.
It's too square maybe, something about it is just abrasive on the eyes!

If so, that would explain the headache. It is legitimately what seems to be the worst people possible.
