I made one very minor route change to the map (the last road before the destination) and added a contingency plan in case the end point is unavailable. See original post for details.

Not sure if I got tired of waiting for the right one to come along, or if I just got sick of driving the POS e34, but I finally bought a TI.
Isn't white or a slicktop, but is a manual and has black interior, so close enough. Allegedly a California car, but had Texas plates on it. High-mileage, has one bad rust spot in the usual location, but the undercarriage looks really clean. Seats are garbage and it needs rear subframe bushings, but otherwise pretty clean (not counting the dog hair...).

Haven't decided what my plan is yet. I'm thinking e30 sport seats, because I think they're comfortable, supportive, and perfectly tolerable for a daily driver. Never really shopped around for seats, so I'm open to suggestions there. Other than than, just maintenance for now.

I had another track day on 9/13 at Blackhawk Farms again and bested my times from August!  This was my first full day in the intermediate class so I went from being one of the faster guys in the class to being passed more than I was doing passing. I'm fairly competitive and I had to keep reminding myself that you only win a track day by going home in one piece.  I got into 1:29's and the car didn't break so the day was a win!
My brakes started to show that they're still the weakest link on the car at the end of the day and started to get a little glazed. Regardless of this, each session was all really consistent. I installed CAtuned adjustable sway bar links up front after my oem links got destroyed during the track day in August.
This car continues to draw compliments from other drivers but only because people are shocked that a car this big and boring can move as quick as it does.  My instructor from last time was telling a group of us how shocked he was at how fast the car is along with the owner of the Lotus that passes me in the video coming up to me later in the day to telling me how shocked he was at how fast it was.  Feels good but at the same time I'd love to be talking about how flat it corners or confidently it stops. It's a great daily but as so many before me have learned, this is not a track car without some serious money being spent.  I need a racing seat, better brakes, less weight, stiffer rear subframe bushings at least, square wheels with sticky tires, etc and so goes the rabbit down the hole. My brother in law came with and let me use his gopro while he took pics.
Without further ado here's the most boring track day video ever.

There is nothing wrong with meth injection on a stock car. You can just use water injection at first for cooling. If you run out of injector, meth would be a risky solution if you are running an off the shelf kit. The shurflo pumps don't last very long, and if you run out and do a hard pull things can happen. Meth injection is going to give you the benefit of running high octane fuel with out the 7 dollar a gallon price.

UPDATE: I sold this car shortly after buying it and replaced it with a different 335i.
I'll continue to update this thread with my new car, which starts this post from October 9:

Well, I finally struck gold. After driving a combined 15 hours looking at 4 different cars, I found one right across town.
I knew I was being picky with my budget and required options, but I'm glad I held out. As funny as it is, this might be the nicest car I've ever owned.
Meet my new 2007 335i. I bought it from the original owner. No accidents, came with both keys and all maintenance records since new. It's never seen winter, so it's 100% rust free. Only has 83k miles and has just about every option you could get for the year. Not only that, but I think I got an absolute steal on it!
Sport Package Bolstered sport seats 18" sport wheels Higher speed limiter Cold Weather Package Heated seats Heated mirrors and keylocks Headlight washers Folding rear seats Premium Package Universal garage-door opener Auto-dimming exterior mirrors Auto-dimming rearview mirror Lumbar seat support Digital compass on rearviewmirror BMW Assist voice command Bluetooth Lighting Package Comfort Access keyless entry and start iDrive with Navigation Satellite radio Logic7 sound system Sunroof It's also the first automatic BMW I've had out of the 8 I've owned. Feels good to be back behind the wheel of something boosted again. I'm so at home with these N54s, it's gonna be hard not to tune it. I'll probably do the typical tint, drop, wheels... but we'll see. I couldn't help but share, stay tuned!

Those were three of the differentiators I pointed out
As you can tell, Pat seems to be an MHD guy and I'm a JB4 guy. I run both and the car always ran PERFECT on stock turbos. I don't think you can go wrong with either, but JB4 has more benefits in my mind. If you want meth at some point, get JB4. It even integrates with port injection so you don't have to run a secondary controller.
PS: Your injectors won't max out. It's the HPFP and LPFP that can't keep up. These direct injectors can supply fuel for days.
I agree with Pat that meth wouldn't be my first mod, but it definitely benefits to cool things down. I'm thinking about adding it now with my current build, but need a new motor first. It never hurts to keep things cooler, but I'd get bolt ons and a tune first. If you have E85 in your area, it's worth mixing. JB4 even has an auto-tuning map that will give you the best performance for your current fuel and temperature conditions

To my knowledge, JB4 is the only one that can trigger water/meth. I love my JB4 and would highly recommend it to anyone, even if you don't want more power. It allows you to monitor tons of variables, scan for codes, delete codes, and comes with some cool features (gauge hijacking, sweeping, wastegate control, 2-step, etc.)

Whoa now!  Put the brakes on the water/meth!  You don't even have a tune yet and you're worried about meth?  Go fbo and worry about meth later.  MHD does literally just about everything that jb4 does except 2-step which you don't need unless you're drag racing, gauge hijacking/sweeping which loses it's cool factor quickly and meth control which you don't need until you max out your injectors and you're far from that.  You could even get an external meth controller if you really wanted.
Flash the car, add some parts, do another flash.  Jb4+MHD is great for maxing out the car but you're not even close to being there yet.  Enjoy the power gains incrementally while you learn how to drive it.

Dang, thats a good looking car. For that level of car/price I'd expect to see real CCW's or something and not ESM's though. Not that there is anything wrong with reps, they are just a bit out of place if you're asking top dollar like that.

Cool side note, I had no idea the quarter windows on e24's could be retracted, that's pretty awesome

2nd that. It is a cold start issue but not necesaarily heat dependant.  Get MHD.  The car is going to break eventually so you might as well have fun before hand.

In my opinion, it's only annoying. If your turbos struggle to hit target boost and start throwing 30FF codes, then it becomes a problem.
For what it's worth, my 135i had no problem peaking at 22psi and making 450whp with turbos that rattled like a son of a bitch. They didn't smoke or anything, but had horrible wastegate rattle. You can tune it out with settings in JB4 and/or MHD. I used JB4 to mask the rattle and still made gobs of power.
    Enjoy the car!

MHD only hides a problem by holding the wastegate open to prevent rattle. The only fix is replacing the turbos. You can also run this band aid on a 0 map I believe so it's a stock tune but really, who the fuck wants a stock tune?  The problem only becomes exacerbated when you start modding.  I was lucky enough to get my turbos under warranty immediately after buying the car. Welcome to n54 ownership!

It sounds like someone is spinning a ratchet under your hood and yes, it's loud.  For limp home mode all you have to do is turn it off then back on and the car will be fine unless something is seriously wrong, in which case you'll turn it off then wait an hour or so for the tow truck to show up.
Is your mechanic familiar with n54's at all?

Pat did a pretty good job of describing it. You can hear it while driving with just the passenger window down while decelerating next to a curb or wall on that side of the car. Keep the music off. Otherwise you can free-rev it in the driveway and listen for a fast metallic clicking noise on the way down. When I bought my car I thought it was a rattling heat shield.
I've put my car into limp mode many times. It always fixes itself if you turn it off and back on again. The one time it was still missing after restarting it was when my motor was shot.
