wasnt m3
Better looking than most of the newer designs
AvusHatesCones
Love the way it looks, but cant believe that the 4 door will be a "3 series" and the 2 door with be a "4 series". Makes no sense to me that they would change the name like that
B C
Yeah im not a real fan of that idea and I REALLY wish they would keep the naming consistent with how they had done it historically 330=3 series 3.0L etc. That interior is phenomenal though. I may have to go test drive one of these when they come out.
AvusHatesCones
I completely agree, it only seems logical to actually have the name/numbers actually mean something. That said, I am excited to see this in person
B C
The earliest point of deviation from naming that I can think of is the 745i which had a turbo M30 (3.4L?) with their reasoning being that the forced induction gave the engine the power/air moving ability of a 4.5L I do think it would be slick if they had their turbo models labeled as "ti" so instead of a 335i it would be a 330ti but then I guess that infringes on the bob-tailed E36 and E46 cars nameplate. Earl
I have a bob-tailed e36;) maybe "it"? But the touring fellows would be upset. Why not just 335t?
Ryan...
Looks nice IMO, but I agree with many others, giving it a 4 series designations is beyond stupid! I cant wait for the 9 series to come out in 2015; a 7 series coupe-touring-vert with 3 seats and a 14 speed automatic paddle shift transmission! Now THAT will demand a premium and fill that ever growing niche for just such a car! Beat THAT Audi and Mercedes!
AvusHatesCones
They also have to quite with the S drive 3.5is advanced this and that blah blah bull crap. Too much naming nonsense going on with BMW lately.
Brian.
I think them butchering the 3 series like this is a bad idea. No one wants a 4 series. We're all about having odd numbers. 1,3,5,7 (8 series doesn't count, cause it's not physically affordable to any of us!) (6 series don't count either, because racecar)
straight6pwr
ugly. pointless. change for the sake of change = no good.
YoungCR
6 series do count! I'm very happy with how the design came out, especially the interior. Its got the best parts of the F30 and F12 mixed into one package. I agree all the new naming designations are nonsense but this is how it will be from now on. B C
I mean it looks a lot better than the old 4-series O__O (calibrate your sarcasm detector)
