Ive had an M20 TPS with an intermittent bad contact before. It would pass the continuity test 7 out of 10 times.

You should also get a mark D chip, some rebuilt 19# Design III Injectors and some headers while you are trying to fix your idle.
It wont help the idle but it will be fun

Yeah, I’m debating whether I should just spring for a new one or try to clean and adjust the one that’s on there.

Chip, headers and injectors would be nice, I really should make sure the injectors are good anyways. The only thing with headers though is that most of them won’t fit an automatic for some reason. I think front suspension and maybe a z3 rack are gonna come before any of that though.

  2. I also just did the stomp test, there are no codes (it flashed 1444 back at me).

Oddly enough, it started and idled nearly perfectly today. Before I started it I just pushed the throttle to full, then back to idle with the car off a couple times to see if I could hear or feel the contacts in the TPS. So that’s probably the next plan of attack, making sure the TPS is good and in adjustment.

    List everything you have checked/replaced
And which parts are Uro parts

    Alright, here goes:

    - o2 sensor replaced

    - All tune-up parts replaced (cap, rotor, wires)

    - It’s been smoke tested twice, the first time I found that the blind plugs were leaking and the second time I found that the valve cover had a slight leak along with a disconnected charcoal canister line

    - ICV has been cleaned and checked, it is as far as I know functional, it buzzes when the key is turned and moves relatively freely.

    - No Uro parts lol

So that’s where I’m at. I’m getting a low idle issue, it sputters and almost dies when returning to idle, hesitated just off idle, but pulls hard and strong everywhere else.

  4. Update!

Got the car down and off the jack stands today, I finished up the brakes yesterday. I never got the remnants of the set screws out, so I guess I’ll try again this summer when I have good temperatures and space to move around.

I’ve got a few things that need to be taken care of, namely the power steering system leaking like a sieve, as well as a tiny leak in the fuel tank at the inlet.

Also, thanks to @snap for sending me the turn signal lenses, both old ones were cracked and faded out.

Still have to get the idle sorted as well, but I’m probably gonna check the tps and fix the last vacuum leak and work from there.

I have an FJ60.  It sucks gas, is pretty good in the snow with my pizza cutter M/T's.  The ride is so rough it will count steps on a pedometer.  The rust is bad, and the parts are rare.  It is still so much fun.

What I think is a true sign that the FJ is not a Land Cruiser is that FJ Cruiser drivers do not recognize the 60 and wave.  Know your heritage/Respect your elders!

If it was a daily that you had to drive it would be miserable.  It is pretty much a tractor, 4spd manual with 4.10 gears means 55 is about top speed.  It can pull things but not fast.  I towed a Uhaul trailer when we moved that was probably around 6000 pounds and it dropped from 12 to 11 MPG even though the entire trip I had the pedal to the floor and never hit 50MPH, it never gets hot, just keeps on chugging.

    All in good fun :D

When you see another one you have to take a picture it happens so rarely.  This was a one owner FJ62 that had over 350k miles.

I love these days, I take the long way home.

That’s awesome, didnt know anyone on here had one! I suppose I’m slightly biased, my experience with one was almost purely off road in a lifted one with a coil spring rear. That thing was just tough as hell and nearly impossible to get stuck in.

I definitely hear you on the ride though, I think the coils in the rear helped but it was still kinda crashy and crappy riding. I was still having too much fun to care though haha.

Sorry for the thread jack 😂

First of all, have you owned an FJ? FJ40's are cool, cruisers are not.

Secondly I didnt do very good research. I just googled TRD SC and your image showed up on a FJ forum. My bad.

Either way, anything is cool with a blower on it........... Unless its an FJ Cruiser, then that's just "trying to be cool".

I group them together with H3 hummers, Jeep liberty's, and most Mom suv's like Ford Edge's.

I agree on the fj40 and would like to add the fj60 as also being badass, one of my all time favorite trucks. Someday...

$1000 - But you have to remember its most likely twice as bad in person and its a 4 hour drive. Its a good deal because you can part it out for way more, but the problem there is that the buyers market is fairly small.

Yeah, that’s a tough call. Maybe if he dropped a bit lower on the price.

I vote you buy the m106 e23 and toss the motor from that into your car, now that’d be fun. Too bad the euro bumpers from that won’t fit a 6 series.

  8. Holy crap, does that ever look nice. I'm loving how much you hate rust, and how clean everything is looking underneath.

I had the same thing happen to my fenders, they looked alright for the most part but when they were pulled off the bottom edge was just swiss cheese. I also had rust underneath the trim strip.

  9. I vote OEM silver as well, I've always felt that style 32's in particular look kinda ricey in gold/bronze/white. The silver looks so clean and gives the car an OEM+ kinda feel. Not too tame, but not crazy either.

Gunmetal wouldn't be bad, I really like this two-tone look:

That e30 M3 has been up for awhile too. I can't remember what the original asking price was, but I don't think its changed much, if at all. I'd imagine that it'll continue to sit until the price is dropped a good bit.

I love the boston green too, friggin gorgeous.
