ClassE got a reaction from KaiserRolls in ClassE 1989 325IS Build Thread
6 weeks later - it has arrived!
Drew up the fuel rail brackets, vacuum block bracket, and a modified linkage bracket (original one hits the fuel rail). Should have them punched out by Friday at work - then I can keep chugging along!

FINALLY got word from Bimmerheads that my fuel rail should be shipping early next week!!! Also got all my blue linkage parts back from having the anodizing stripped - and redone in black. And of course the hardware a done in more zinc...

Got the front end of the car all together, and got it running and driving!
The first time driving it was a huge disappointment, it just didn't feel right. The pedal position didn't seem to matter much in terms of power, it didn't feel smooth, and just didn't feel quite right. I changed the spark plugs from cheap plugs to less cheap plugs and viola it felt quite a bit more proper, and things seem to be working the way they should. I still have an idle issue that I haven't dug too far into yet, and my unloader relays aren't grounding, so I need to take care of those things and all should be well.
I still have the 2.93LSD in the car, and I was expecting it to be quite a slouch; but I was wrong. The m52 makes a lot more torque than the m50, and it is quite amusing to scoot around short shifting.
I'm just glad to have the car back on the road! The chassis feels fantastic compared to my 205k mile e46!

Almost ready to test fit all the linkage - decide what colors to paint/coat all the linkage parts - disassemble - paint/coat - then reassemble....
Almost to the point of not caring - and just assembling so I can finally hear the damn thing run!!!

Snap knocked out some powdercoating on the quick - so had to test fit. Can't wait to get everything back from zinc coating and start reassembling. Still need to de-bracket the PS of the bay - and clean.

Thanks Man, I would love to go to the picnic as well but I think I am being dragged to automotion (unfortunately) by my gf.
I'll report on all the flat brims, diesel trucks and Chevy cruzes I see

no, beating them into place is what is locking them. the three tabs on the outside of the plate hold the plate from spinning in the hub, the center part which you deform around the hex nut hold the nut from spinning. the pressure from beating them in holds them in their place.
they aren't a lock washer/crush washer like you are thinking that goes under the nut. there is are no ridges or pressure that would help hold the axle nut in place. it would be like a regular old washer.
when you removed the original ones, they were either corroded/fell apart to where it looked like they were behind or someone installed them wrong. from your picture it looks like they had fallen apart.
