Hadn’t checked in on “the euro” in a while, first videos I’ve seen of it running and driving but it’s been back together for a few years now with the M30B35 swap I sold with it. Car sounds great, I’d love to see it in person.

Great interview, neat info on Alpina's history. Also eloquently shit on the new beaver teeth kidneys haha

Bought a Otofix BT1-Lite, same as a Autel MaxiBAS BT506 for 1/2 the price, to help with some charging system issues on other vehicles but I tested everything in the driveway for fun. Failed the first test but I didn't know the rating on the battery and the terminals in the engine bay could use a cleaning. Pulled the trunk cover to find a OEM battery and tested again from there directly. I don't have any records of it being replaced. Its state of charge is still 100% if it is a 570 cca like I think it should be so thats cool but certainly will keep a close eye on its heath. Starter & Alternator passed

Not surprised, that was a fair price on a nice car

I think you get to keep you car-guy status since you got a manual! My father in law had one, I never drove it but I liked it for what it is.

They’re my go-to for the e30 too, pretty much the only manufacturer that has 20W-50 that’s easy to find. Didn’t they change to Mobil more recently?
I think the partnership broke for a few years but looks like they are the current OEM supplier again per Castrol's website. https://www.castrol.com/en_us/united-states/home/castrol-story/newsroom/announcements/recommended-bmw-oil-supplier.html
Quotebp (February 15th, 2021), a world leading supplier of high-performance lubricants, and the manufacturer of the Castrol Oil Brands, is proud to announce it has been selected as the engine oil partner for BMW and MINI authorized dealers across the US, Canada, and Mexico. This new five-year agreement re-establishes a long-standing partnership between these two premium brands as Castrol had been the engine oil supplier over a 14-year span.
As part of the recent program, bp will continue to produce BMW Group’s branded engine oils which meet the OEM’s most recent and rigorous engine specifications including LL-17 FE+ and LL-12 FE as well as older generation specifications such as LL-01 and LL-04. The BMW branded lubricant formulations are based on Castrol EDGE, a leading full synthetic brand strengthened by Fluid Titanium Technology which increases film strength, reduces friction, and improves lubrication under the intense pressure of high output engines.
“We are honoured to have been selected by the BMW Group to resume our position as their lubricant supplier. The BMW brand is both iconic and globally recognized as a symbol of performance engineering, which is well aligned with bp market position. We look forward to future collaboration in lubricant development as well as the pursuit of new sustainability initiatives,” said Laura Posadas Regional President, Castrol Americas.
Man those pics make me wish I was romping around in my 530i.

Oil change, Castrol 5W-40 Euro full synthetic. Didn’t realize this stuff is BMW LL01 certified
It's probably mentioned in the owners manual but "BMW recommends Castrol" was a thing forever! If I remember right E39/E46 oil caps even have the Castrol logo on them.

well its been a few days, sitting at $10.5k now. Really curious where this ends up price wise now that the market has softened. Also lol at the professional dye job comment from the seller. Wonder what happened to the fender as well?

Well shit, so sorry to hear. I'm gonna go pull the keys out of my vehicles in storage now. I have things packed tight into mine so breaking through the wall isnt really possible but all it takes is a cordless cut off to get in the door anyways. My good friend had his pristine 1 owner 46k mi 2003 Chevy 3500 Dually he had just bought a month prior stolen in Sacramento, CA on Christmas morning. Police found it parked on a side street a week or 2 later. They stole the headlights, battery, all the tools in the bed and the cats off the exhaust. Hopefully you find your car with minimal damage and missing parts as well. Really depends on what their motive is but its usually always about the quickest way to get money out of it and move on to the next theft.
I would be happy to make a post on the WI BIMMERS facebook page as well if you'd like, just not sure how much traffic it would get but could see what the paid posts go for these days too.

Thanks for the wiring source! I had trouble finding oem style colored wiring last time I looked.

Well that’s a bummer. Are they under warranty? I would talk to customer service still, worth a shot at maybe getting the correct wheels you ordered.

151625 mi already. I'm not happy about it but it is what it is. Need some other road trip vehicles back in rotation...
Finally got a scan tool, intermittent check engine light is back on for emissions, found a few other things I luckily bought parts for already.
00452A DTC Description Digital Diesel Electronics (DDE), information - particulate filter system. Time to do the permanent fix.

Yeah we’ve talked at the e30 picnic a few times over the years. That would be awesome! Does the AEC still do a yearly car show as well? I used to put that one the calendar here. My in-laws live in mineral point, I get down there a few times a year.
