REKIII
I o-ringed a neon block once. Problem with oringing is you need to be very careful what head gasket you use. Many of the modern MLS headgaskets wont work with o-rings and are actually better than an o-ring/alternate gasket set up.
240sxguy
I agree with REKIII, I wouldn't o-ring just for fun. I am not familiar with the bmw motors and boost, but my experience with other I6s has been good with just head studs. I run a stock head gasket on my rb25det. Earl
I has m42 that will probably get charged via cooper s charger.
Rowleym
Well I already bought a new gasket that is supposedly perfect for o-ringing my motor. People use the stock head gasket, or a replacement of it, and oring the block with mig wire. With .08-.1 protrusions I'm pretty sure. Know any good machine shops? And cheap ones? Lol. Rowleym
Any advice on pulling the engine and trans together? Hopefully getting that done today. And then getting the bay ready to paint. Good fun!
Rowleym
Well, I'm getting confirmed today. Hopefully getting some cash. Lol. Also, bought a stage 4 f1 racing clutch lol. Trying to buy some arp's from this dude on the forum. Hopefully it goes through. Didn't pull the engine today. Decided to finish building my megasquirt and wasted spark setup. Rowleym
Dude sold the studs on me. Dammit! Anyway, decided to go with a 1g dsm BOV hahah. Supposedly they are actually good, and cheap as piss. Probably try and piece together an intercooler from some dsm dude. Worked on the diypnp for a few hours today. I'm gonna finish it up hopefully before it snows, so I can learn how to tune without a turbo.
Rowleym
Well. This build didn't really go as expected. I thought it would be long and slow. But anyways. I bought some more shit today. Met possibly the coolest dude I have ever met, and he's doing all my custom work/fabing from now on. Walbro 255, 42# green tops almost new, some random BOV, and everything for my oil drain. Just have to buy an oil feed fitting. All I need really is to oring my block, get This dude to weld my head, arp head studs, intercooler, IAT sensor, variable tps, and I'm good to go. Also, this dude has a beautiful hx35 I'm going to buy from him. Gotta sell the hx40 first!

Rowleym
Lol yea I actually do. It will be a couple of weeks though. I'm getting my head welded, my flywheel surfaced, and my block oringed. That's the next project. And then intercooler set up.
Earl
Head welded?
Rowleym
Head welded? A lot of m20 guys weld some of the coolant passages or whatever. There are some that are just worthless, and it creates a better seal or something. It's like super good and it's not going to cost me much. Rowleym
Hopefully buying a hx35, intercooler, and a oil cooler. Oh, and a fuel filter and cone filter thrown in.
240sxguy
If the oil cooler doesn't work out I have an earls one on the shelf I'll probabally never use.
Rowleym
If the oil cooler doesn't work out I have an earls one on the shelf I'll probabally never use. Why is that?
240sxguy
I don't need it and am too lazy/cheap to plumb it into my 240sx.
Brian.
I'll be in GL for thanksgiving You gunna be home? I'm putting some big mudflaps on the E28 so I can prevent rust. I'll stop by regardless
Rowleym
Well I will be around. Hopefully available though. I have to write a 24 page essay on diet affecting adhd in teens, make a children's book for Spanish 5, and apply to a college. It's going to blow. And after that, I want to paint the e30. Well and pull the engine/trans because the clutch is coming.
Rowleym
Buying the intercooler, turbo, oil cooler, fuel filter. And cone filter right now. All I need is like block stuff like gaskets and bolts and flywheel surfacing and shit and I'm done. Oh, and down pipe to nothingness haha
