B C
BMW has unveiled their new Light and Charge prototype at the Eurocities conference in Munich.Essentially a street light with an integrated charging port, the prototype attempts to kill two birds with one stone.BMW didn't have much to say about the street lights themselves but they confirmed they are modular and can be adapted depending on the location. As a result, the street lights can have one or two LED lighting modules for side streets and residential areas and four LED lighting modules for use on major roads.Unlike most prototypes, these street lights will go into production thanks to a pilot project which kicks off in Munich next spring. Under the terms of the deal, the city will replace conventional streetlights with the new Light and Charge units. This will enable the city to increase the number of electric vehicle charging locations as well as update their lighting infrastructure more energy efficient LED street lights.According to BMW Board Member Peter Black Bauer, "Light and Charge is a simple and innovative solution to naturally integrate a reliable network of charging stations in the city." He added "We are pleased that we can ... promote the expansion of the charging infrastructure further ... by the Light and Charge project." B C
Care to shed some light on this topic? The illuminati holds this info very closely and I am led to believe there would be no outlet for me once I divulge it.
Bassboy3313
Being an electrical engineer that designs outdoor lighting for most of my projects, I would be interested in seeing the spec sheets on these lights. I have seen/dealt with some pretty bad lighting fixture designs, so I am curious about these.
