In today's episode of WIbuildings... I ordered a shed yesterday!  10x14 lofted barn with 2 4' lofts and about 10' 6" from the floor to ceiling center.  It should be delivered in 3-5 weeks.  I'm going to drop it on a crushed stone base in a 4x4 pressure treated perimeter.  I'm excited to reclaim my back garage and make that more of a useable space instead of storage!

Nice, there was a 20x12 building similar at our house we bought.  You need to have a good base to set it on.  Ours is on dirt and has some rot damage and the doors don't close right because of shifting.  A compacted gravel base should be just the thing.

I know regular E30's have been increasing in price, but seriously? Is anyone actually buying these for this kind of money? An auto m20 sedan with mediocre body, comfort seats, needing a head gasket and a full suspension refresh seems like a MAX $1500-$2000 car to me. Am I really just behind the times or is this guy delusional for thinking he'll get this?

He might get it from a sucker.  All those cooling parts replaced and now a "head gasket".  I'd put money on it having a cracked head... I wouldn't pay more than a grand and that is if it isn't rusty underneath.  "Odometer stopped today" sure it did...

That looks fantastic. Our new basement will be 180 to that - a dedicated play space for the kids. lol.

I forgot you were in the middle of a full home reno, too. How's yours going? I took on several projects to save us some money - laying about 1,400 sf of hardwood floors upstairs, building all the closet shelving, building the fireplace mantel, and building/painting built-ins in the kitchen. THEN, when that's all done I'll be starting on finishing the new portion of the basement. Which I found out when taking down the 4x8 sheets of foam board that they only fit down the stairs because they're flexible. All of the drywall will have to go down in 4x4 sheets. *crying inside*

I feel like towards the end of 2020 the e30 was finally getting to a good point that I could drive it more than I worked on it. Excited for 2021 and the new stuff it's getting - but that is buried under a pile of house projects that I need to finish.

Could you buy 12' an cut in half?

  4. Those thread inserts are excellent.  We used them at the Hormel shop frequently when threaded holes were needed in plastic or UHMW parts so that the threads wouldn't tear out.  They are much better than a helicoil for things that get disassembled frequently, like a drain plug.  Now it will be stronger than new.  Please torque to 150 ft/lbs for science.

  5. To continue shark week.  I did most of the work on this car.  Should be a good auction.  https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1979-bmw-633csi-3/

I would drive it across the country, everything that is crusty from age like fuel hoses, brake hoses, cooling system is all brand new.  And the engine was rebuilt less removing the rotating assembly so no oil leaks and perfect running.  The head is a later euro head with the more durable design of the cooling jacket.  The original one was cracked.

All of the modifications were done when it was new, the Alpina build sheet shows the options.  Pretty rare piece and I am excited to see what it goes for.

@YoungCR  do you remember what that euro car was that the cylinder head came from?  I though Ben Finley got it from you.  It needed a euro head because of the L-jet distributor is different than the later style M30 distributor.
