alexw
Hah! Not going to be enough sorry!Thinking of selling the M3, and getting a non-M E30 and doing a s50 swap... And pocketing the left overs.

industrialsized
if your gona swap an e30 it better be an m62 I have only ever eye fucked one in person but it was amazing
alexw
A shop in Illinois did that swap. I'm not 100% that I'll sell the M3, but if I do the first thing would be to find a clean E30. I'm pretty much mechanically retarded so either the swap will take forever or I'll be enlisting help.I actually have my eye on a s54 e30 swap. But we'll see, it may be a long term project. alexw
I'm talking about AKG, in Zion Il. They don't do work anymore, just manufacturing parts.I don't know that I could justify paying a shop to do the swap. Just for shits and giggles, I emailed VAC about a e30 S54 swap. They said, including the engine they'd expect... About $15,000, lol yea right.
Ryan...
holy shit lolFrom what I gather the saw isn't hard at all. A friend from Cali did an m50 swap in a weekend, once you have the parts it should be pretty easy.
alexw
Yea. I've got to find a good chassis first, then do some research on engine options. Ideally I'd want an S series engine. M50's are nice, but I'd like the added power right off the bat.Who knows. Tomorrow I might say I'm never selling it.
Ryan...
A stroker M50 can often be made for much cheaper than an s50. Any considerations towards boosting the motor?
alexw
Immediately no boosting.Though I've been told M50 is the way to go if you wanted to boost. My thought is this, I'm not going to sell the m3 unless I can replace it with something atleast somewhat close to the badassedness as the m3.We'll see
Ryan...
Then boost is necessary I would go with M50 purely for price reasons too, it'll give you more money to beef up the suspension/wheels/whatever else you'd wanna do.. in terms of performance, the s50 kinda sucks.Swap in a euro m3 motor! alexw
You can get an s54 for cheaper than the euro s50's.
mystere30
i want an m3 ...or boost..
alexw
If I did it, it would be a very mild boost. I'd be building a DD.
