This thing has pretty much just sitting lately. It started leaking diesel again and the wastegate stopped working (no surprise for a $60 gate).
I decided that I needed to test the new pump, and wanted to use the new injectors that I had in this engine. The ones in it were starting to seep, so I started by replacing just the injectors to ensure that those were functioning properly. Changing these things is a fair bit of work, and always involves a breaker bar with many feet of extensions.
It looks like it's got 12 cylinders!
Cleaned up the mounting surface and threads in the block and put the new ones in.
They had previously been used so bleeding them was a very short affair, along with actually knowing what I'm doing with them.
She fired up pretty quick and it took a second to push the rest of the air out of the lines and it sat and idled quite nicely.
These injectors made a significant difference in the running of the motor, it is much smoother and seems quieter than before. I was running with the intake manifold off (always weird) so I didn't see how it drove, but I would imagine it's better than before.
Now the plan is to swap the fuel pump to the new one to see if it works, or if that pump has issues. Hoping it works, as I will then have new injectors, a new pump, and a healthy motor.

That was such a blast! We need to do it again soon. Maybe my car will be lifted too and we can both drive through massive puddles.

I added the block heater plug to the car, which will come in handy with the dropping temperatures.
Just flip the cap open and plug in the female end of an extension cord!
I also added new marker lights on the bumper, I think I will be adding a few more, as I quite like the way it turned out.
Andrew Noggle (Noggs photography) took some photos of Jason and I this weekend, they are looking pretty damn cool!
I took this photo awhile back, and just looked at it again the other day and decided to take the color out.
I think it looks quite cool now.

This sounds like a good time. I have a Moto Guzzi 850T that hasn't been run in a few years. I'd be willing to give it a refresh, throw some knobbies on it, and be down for some fun.
Pic from ages ago... She's a little rougher now, but still eager for some action.

Speaking of off road, one of our local photo-pros was out in the Appalachians with a group of "rally" 911s. I'd like to get a group of bro-venture E30s together to conquer the TWAT. From what I've read, Wisconsin's TWAT is majestic.

There are some random parts on US cars that end up being blocked for no reason and it's frustrating as hell. We spoke with a BMW rep at SEMA in 2016 in hopes to get more info and finding a workaround for their policy and all we got was a blank look. BMW seems totally oblivious to why this is even a concern among enthusiasts.
If you need blocked Euro parts let me know. We work with a dealer in Europe specifically for this reason. Shipping takes a bit longer and is a little more expensive, but it is an option.

When taken apart it looks a bit like this. (Not my pic, 4cyl VW stuff)
Also, I would like to take this moment to laugh at the fact that my leaking heater core is likely the reason I struggled with temp issues for so long. It was allowing air into the system and was always getting stuck in the thermostat housing. That's the next thing to get taken out!
New radiator ordered (was using a friends)
Thanks to @dealindave I have $50 of sealing washers on the way!

15 holes in the roof later...
Test fitting and marking more holes
Added a wire to get them running without buttoning the whole car back up.
I'm extremely pleased with how they turned out!
Dave, you will be getting a message from me! Thanks for the help on that, didn't know you were still lurking on this thread!
