  1. How about start in Milwaukee and race to Door County. Of we're going to do a road rally, we may as well do it big.

I think the intention here is to set up some kind of driving event that encourages .. er ... more "responsible" driving than is typically seen on cruises, but is still fun for the participants. It's hard to get a group of hooligans together and in their cars without some kind of shenanigans happening. For some people that's part of the fun, but I'm sure for others it's a bit alienating. It only takes one person driving beyond their abilities or a little bit of bad luck to create an ugly situation...

I'm not much of a navigator, but if you need someone to man a checkpoint or hand out playing cards I'd be willing to help.

  2. as you're coming into appleton on 10 you keep going straight at the 41 interchange and you'll be on the 441 bypass east. just stay on that a few miles until you get the KK exit (calumet st). then take KK straight to the intersection with N. it's a couple miles from the highway, but it's a straight shot. the Darboy club is on the right side right on the corner. i'll PM you my cell number, feel free to get in touch.

  3. Count me in. Would like to try to meet up with the Appleton/Oshkosh area members on the way down to criuse in the rest of the way.

I might be down for this, but I was thinking of going around the other side of the lake so I can hit some of my favorite Kettle Moraine roads on the way down :shifty: I'm also planning on going to the Fox Valley Sports Car Club autocross at Miller Park on the 19th, so the try-not-to-drink-too-much/sleep-in-my-car plan sounds like a winner to me.

  4. In many cases it means I'll be faster on the straight.

Well if I'm in an e21, then this is almost certainly true.  With 110hp (if I'm lucky) I don't need to worry much about wheelspin.

Makes sense though. So the real problem is the body roll + MacPherson strut front suspension?

  5. ^What he said.

Check the coolant level. It seems obvious, but when there's no description of the problem beyond "it overheated", it's pretty hard to diagnose anything.

Just because there aren't any BMW dealers doesn't mean that there isn't anyone "qualified" to fix it in your area. From your posts it's unclear what you're expecting. Do you want someone to fix it for you, someone to come to your house and diagnose the problem, or advice on what to check to diagnose it yourself?

You say that no one will help you fix it, but it appears that you haven't made any effort to diagnose the problem yourself. I'm not trying to be a dick, but if you want help you need to provide more details, and ask more specific questions. Looks like a nice car, don't let it sit back there in the weeds too long.

  6. Do the Euro and US spec E21s use the same harness and just have the feature disabled with sealed beams?

Not sure I correctly interpreted what you were asking the first time. The 7" euro lights are not sealed beam and do have city lights in them. The US lights are sealed beam with no city light. Not sure about the euro dual setup.

Also of interest is that I'm told many of the newer cars that use the same parts worldwide have a spot in the light for the city lights, but they are not installed.
