Can confirm, this car was a solid purchase. The Z4m is extremely under-appreciated and underrated

I attempted to replace mine and failed. It made no difference so I think the board itself was bad. Welcome to the broken odometer club. I attempted to repair the odometer gears and it ended up working maybe 1 out of every 90 miles.
it makes for some really depressing fuel economy calculations -
If I were about 4 inches and 400 hamburgers less, I would very much consider one of these.
Looks great! Cant wait to check it out. From what I read BMW did some good things when designing this chassis

I'm going to come over this weekend and inspect this fuckery for myself. I don't buy the story
😄Never a concern in this weather, but in July/August if I let my guard down while stopped, the needle has been known to be sneaky.

The radiator in that car is literally brand new. I had it put in when I had Eric re-wire the car to get rid of the mechanical fan. Don't waste your money.
The aux. fan controller cannot run the fan at full speed and the needle climbs while lining up in grid/idling for more than a minute on a hot day unless I am running the heater on full attempting to induce heat stroke.
Running a stock aux. fan and hard wiring the puller to a temp switch that lets it run full speed is the other option being considered.

Yes, H&R race sit lower in front. Here is mine with E90 drop hats.
@KaiserRolls can comment on the suspension more since he now owns the car and did a few autocross with the H&R race setup. My only track day was on H&R SPORT + suspension techniques 22mm/19mm sway bars. I felt the car was really responsive, excellent turn-in and predictability. Changing the springs to H&R Race only made it better.
i’d recommend front and rear sways with reinforcements

Since suspension is on the punch list for the winter - what are some of you running and how do you like it? I know there are some coilover options, but I will likely not be going that route due to the cost and that they're not a direct swap (and the ones that are a direct swap are even more money).
I'm leaning towards Koni Yellows with Ireland Engineering springs. Something semi-comfortable enough to DD, but can take some punishment.
That would be a good combo.Unless something has changes recently I prefer the ride height of the H&R race. The IE appeared to sit a bit taller in front. Even at that I was running E90 spring hats up front to lower it another 10mm, but that was an attempt to even out the proportions on a late model with the lower rear wheel arches. While aesthetics were secondary to driving enjoyment, the way the IE looked on a late model bothered me.
That spring rate with a Bilstein sport damper is slightly overdamped so I think the Konis are a great pick.
Top it off with a set of sway bars it will make the stock suspension feel like you were once driving a bobblehead doll -
Sway bar upgrades reduce the amount of coffee spilled on your lap in a corner.
edit - I'm friends with Kaiser -
Sounds like a great drive! When do you plan to put the car away for the year?

I learned something that I think @m42b32 discovered on his M54 swap, which is: the ECU on a car with an electric throttle body does not open the throttle 100% all the time. It is programmed to open to a fraction of WOT depending on the RPM. I'm not sure if the strategy is to avoid lean spikes/NOx emissions (very likely), or better control of enrichment to prevent bogging and keep particulates down (probably not). I observed this while diagnosing a bad throttle body/TPS on a car (not a BMW) I was working on while plotting the throttle opening vs resistance. It only opened 50% max when the pedal was applied 100% from idle speed, and continues to open up a fraction of WOT until you are higher in the rev range where the volumetric efficiency will allow more complete cylinder filling. On Nissan products I believe people refer to this as "Torque Limiting" and sometimes this throttle restriction is removed when a performance tune is flashed. I do think this concept is known about but misunderstood since I think some people believe the reason is to protect the drivetrain.
If anyone else has more information on this, chime in. I like this kind of stuff
