Long time no update. TO say there is a lot going on with it is an understatement. If anyone would like to stop by, I'll be here most of the weekend. We are also in the process of launching a website for our shop that will have the build thread on it.
-
I'll be at the shop tonight after 6 if anyone wants to stop down. It's just south of downtown mke
-
I'll be around tonight if anyone wants to swing by.

I got the rear end mocked up and sitting at ride hieght. I test fit the wheels that came off the car the motor is from. I'm sold on the tires. Still up in the air about the wheels. 26x11 tires look real good and fit perfect

No worries. I'll be there a lot in the next few weeks. I forgot to shoot any pics. I'll post some tomorrow.
-
I'll be at the shop tonight for a bit starting to fit the motor in the frame.

It is going to be beyond tubbed. No flaires though. We just built a motor similar to this and it made 800+ on the dyno all motor. Kinda wanna keep it n/a.

Thanks a lot man. Not much new with the engine at this point. 400 cubic inch big block with a decent build. Gonna run it that way for now. Really focusing on the chassis right now. I had one guy initially do the cage and frame and did a really shitty job. My friend chris Taylor took a look at it and has some wild ideas so I'm going forward with him. In the end I ultimately want it to be a very streetable race car. Depending how well the car reacts, next winter could see a more serious engine build and ALOT more power

i had a slight freak out saturday morning and wasnt happy the direction i was taking.....so i dismantled the whole front end again and started over on the engine bay. In the 16 hours i put in this weekend i am 1000% happier with the results so far. it will be on the next level where i felt i was rushing and slacking before.

Two sparco seats, full carpet, back seats gone and all my electronics are in its place. Stock dash for now with digital dash in the stock location. Stock door cards.

-
The car will wiegh probably less than 2000 when done
-
What size Pontiac motor is that?
Stock it was 400 ci or 6.6 liters

thats why I chose this motor. Super rare. Never been done, torque out of the ass, and the downward facing exhaust was Perfect for this car.Earl, you can restate your same comment all you want. But when most people say a GM/GENERAL MOTORS "big block V8" Everyone goes, GMC/CHEVY. The pontiac route is rarely gone over. So yeah, I'll accept I was wrong. But just because he's done motors for 10 years, doesn't mean he's always right.
An anyone from the SBC/BBC area could have made the same mistake I did. Because that's what most GM SBC's look like.
-
Gm/Chevy= practically the exact same.. Comes out of the same factory
Agreed. Same basic design but this motor came out of a pontiac. Chevy and pontiac don't use the same motors. It is a big block pontiac. The head design is completely different.

I am aware of all these things. I build engines for a living and have worked in an engine shop for ten years. It is not a Chevy. What you are saying about Chevy small and big blocks is correct. It is a gm and the brand of gm it is, it is considered a big block. I chose this because of the downward facing exhaust ports. It's definitely not a big block. I can tell just by looking at the xhaust manifold. This is a small block. Probably a 400CI.
Here's the difference:
small block, the 2 middle exhaust ports are toghether/really close
Big block, the ports are evenly spaced.
Not trying to be an asshole, just clarifying. None the less this is a cool build.
I'm also a chevy guy. I owned a 1976 Chevy C10 stepside with a 406CI stroker motor. prostock cams, built up valvetrain, billet crank, custom cam, etc.
In for this though

I'm pretty sure Kyle knows his way around engines
Thanks Earl. It is a gm though. I did all the machine work and assembly myself.
-
It's not a Chevy.

i work at an engine shop so a big block was kind of a shoe in
