Are you shooting in RAW? If not, I recommend doing so in the future if you care about editing.

The first shot looks good. The other two are a little overexposed, IMO. I like the composition of the second one a lot though. You could really bring the sky back if you have the RAW file.

What do you mean by RAW? I'm extremely new to taking pictures of my car in manual mode. I changed some settings just so that it wasn't so insanely bright.

  2. Hey all! Got the fender on. I'd say having the black fender looks better than having a fucked up green fender. A nice green fender would look the best, though. I'll be painting it once it gets warmer out.

Also, I was cruising around with the car and saw this. Not sure if it is rare or anything, but still thought it was cool.

The E36 engines are hard to keep from being raspy. I hear a little rasp on the over-run and my ears tell me the engine isnt in an ideal state of tune. Am i nuts? Or does anybody else hear it too?

I think some of the exhaust was fucking up the mic, its a quiet same volume rasp all the way through irl. You can hear the air/exhaust hitting the mic just barely if you listen closely when im revving.

You can hear the shit hitting the mic in this video better since it was a lot closer to the exhaust.

  4. Did some more stuff!

Got my mishimoto radiator and mishimoto silicone radiator hoses on. I actually did it at school during my car care class, I bet the teacher a 12pk of mountain dew I could have it done by the end of the hour. I now owe him a 12pk of mountain dew. You can see the new radiator stuff in this video and there is an exhaust demo of what the car sounds like without cats.

    ALSO:
    1. The car is warmed up already
    2. I know the right top radiator mount is broken. Have 2 new ones already on the way.

Also, my new fender came in the mail today! Getting that on tomorrow. I'm gonna paint it once it gets warmer outside.

Im pretty sure my dad thought i was an idiot for the things i did to cars when I was 16.

Im pretty sure my dad thinks im an idiot for the things i do to cars 16 years later.

Hahaha yeah, my dad has always been supportive of me working on my cars in his garage as long as I clean up after I'm done (which I do). He is always willing to help, and I remember he was very skeptical of me turboing my civic and told me it really would really make a difference. When I finished the car and took him up to about 120 he thought it was the coolest thing and made me give (what seemed like) almost everyone in my family a ride when they came over LOL. Hasn't doubted me since

haha, love how dad crashes the video.

I also need to come up with a heat shield solution for my car. I look forward to seeing what you come up with whenever you get around to that

haha yeah my dad wasnt too enthused. I'll make sure to post here once I have a shield done.

  7. Did some stuff today! A buddy of mine and I got rid of the cats. Sounds pretty good, but nowhere near as loud as expected. Definitely interesting.20180204_152830.jpg

(Before you ask, yes after the new pipes it is backwards. We figured this out when we went to put it on the car and I noticed the hangers were the wrong way.)

I discovered my radiator is cracked, it is leaking after the top radiator hose ends and the hose clamp is definitely tight. I have a new mishimoto racing radiator, mishimoto silicone radiator hoses, and a new fender on the way.

Also a few days back I put a cone filter and some better brights in. My buddy had them in his garage and the cone filter fit like a glove. I have a plan in the works to get a heat shield and make my own afe style intake. But for now, it should be okay.20180204_213049.jpg

Also, enjoy this video of the car running straight off the headers. My dad wasn't too thrilled.

I had stickers on my Geo Prizm in high school, what I learned is it just gives cops a reason to profile and pull you over.  Skateboarding type stickers in my case got me pulled over for doing 5 over in a 25 and called in the k9 unit to sniff my car for drugs because I obviously must be a stoner if I have skateboarding stickers.

Not trying to give you a bad time, just what i have learned.

cops havent really bothered me where i live. this is my 5th car and every car ive owned at some point has had window stickers on it of some sort, and the only time I have ever been pulled over was because I was running no plates when i first bought my 318ti. i even had a wastegate dump out of the hood of my civic and never got pulled over.

    Whats a slap sticker?

I was wondering the same thing.  They appear to be bumper stickers on your window?  I am getting old I guess.

Slap stickers are just stickers in that uniform rectangular shape. Idk, I really like the look of them. It can seem kinda ricey but I really like how they look. At least its not "built not bought" bs

  9. Hey all! It has been a little bit since I have done anything to my car, but I did get these slap stickers on. I love the look of slaps so I think they look pretty good.Snapchat-1580630215.jpg

Anyways, I discovered my intake boot was torn in 2 different places. I ordered a new intake boot, and I also ordered a new radiator drain plug. About 3/4s of the plastic little blue plug was gone, so I did order a new brass one.

  10. So, my cats are shitting out on me. It has the definite smell of cats going bad or clogged. OBD1 so no post cat o2 sensors. Any advice on the best way to do a cat delete? I want the car louder anyways, and now I have a reason to do it. I have little welding experience, and no welder.

Would it help if he put the orginal stock bumper on it? We know who has the bumper but he is "holding it hostage" won't take cash, only a trade with cash on his end for the m3 bumper.

This is true, but he won't go above $50 cash on top which personally, I don't think it is worth it. I also am not too worried about the car selling, I will start getting worried if it hasn't sold by the end of summer 2018.

If you do end up still trying to sell the compact, putting in stock grills and painting the front bumper would help immensely.

I have literally 0$ to paint the bumper on the ti, but I can definitely see if I can pick up some stock grills for it. I'll see closer to summer time though. I doubt it is gonna sell before april/may.

This will make a HUGE difference in interest. Also be sure to list any/all maintenance as most buyers are more interested in that compared to mods

If it were me and this car's purpose was purely for fun, I'd keep the 318ti and if you really want more power, either boost or swap it down the road. If this car is your daily and you need the added practicality, the sedan would be the better choice while still being loads of fun.

Any maintenance I have done or have any possible record for is listed in the ad, and the ti or 325 would be for a daily. I can't really afford to go boost or to swap it, both time (after my old civic sat in my dads garage for 3 months (boost things) he said "if its not done in a week its getting towed to your mothers" so, i dont have a garage for any long projects anymore) and money wise.

Also I end up being the carpool a lot for my friends and carry all my computer gear and desk chair places close to 4-6 times a year so the whole sedan thing was a big factor in buying the 325.

I wonder if the Cali-top is hurting the ti sale especially this time of year. You first put this up in November? Kind of like trying to sell a Miata in winter, moves slow. Maybe hold off on any major decisions and wait until the thaw when drop top fever is more common. Relist it then and bump your FS thread on 318ti.org

Or depending on time and budget sell the 325i have at it with the swap. Enough enablers here to support that journey.

Or think about selling both and see if John Morgan's swapped Ti is still available. Did he ever sell this thing?

I would guess the whole "rust free calitop" thing is definitely hurting its sale at this point in time. Also the miles doesnt help. I have no clue, im starting to have conflicting thoughts. But i also dont have the knowhow, time, or money to do a swap in the ti. Once it gets nicer out and the salt is gone, if it hasn't sold I am gonna drive both around for a week and see which I like more. My biggest complaint with my Ti is that there was little mod support engine wise for the M44 to go faster, and that is why I picked up my 325. And that the 325 was an insane deal. I owe my mother quite a chunk of change because of the 325. Maybe I just have to get some new wheels, seats, fender, and gut my cats and I will feel better. But who knows, only time will tell.

  14. So at this point I have been trying to sell my 1998 BMW 318ti for a while now. It is an absolutely rust free 318ti with 206k miles. Runs great and handles fantastic. Rokkor coilovers, big 15 inch subwoofer, m3 bumper, style 161 wheels, and a muffler off of an aftermarket catback that was on a vr6. Pic:

    20171022_110521.jpg

I also have a 1994 BMW 325i I picked up a while back. Currently it has 103k miles, and is definitely not rust free. Its not rusty at all except for a piece of the sideskirt, but runs great. Has raceland ultimo coilovers in front and ultimo springs with bilstein shocks in the back, old manzo catback, and an ebay tune that just raises the rev limiter. Pic:

    Now, which would you pick?

My old coilovers live on, lol. They didn't ride very good when I installed them (new), I'm curious how they ride now that they have a lot of miles and with the different rear struts.

Sorry to see the fender carnage.

Thanks! And they still ride kinda like ass lol. Not a big deal to me though, the rear raceland struts were pretty garbage and I am trying to ignore the fact that the fronts are probably the same way. I am planning on attending a few drift events this summer, so around that time I will see whether or not I'll need new coils.

I have a decent condition sedan fender that is black.  You can have it if you want.  I will have to check if it is the side marker style though.  I live on I35 by the IA / MN border.
