    Nice photo

I like that those aren’t a style of wheel you typically see on an E90. A dab of ride height reduction and some 15mm or so spacers would finish things off nicely

Thanks! I was going for something different so it would stick out a little. I definitely need some coilovers, trying to work on something to make that happen sooner than I initially thought. I think the stance will look better once its lowered some, the rears should tuck a little and the fronts are pretty spot on.

Of course we have snow on the ground now so I don't want to drive it on these tires, I ended up going with the Pilot Sport 4S, they don't like the cold.

Thanks! And nice, are you doing anything mods to it?

I've only done intake, charge pipe and bov so far, and I have downpipes in the trunk just not installed yet. Basically prepping the car for the big tune and then going to leave it there for a while to take care of adult things.

Don't you work for a wheel company?  Nobody there knew that this wouldn't work?  I hate to sound harsh but I feel like that's something someone in that building should know or at least ask before the order was placed.  It sucks it happened to you but at least this wasn't an order that shipped out to a customer and this happened.

They told me I should get some but I thought I knew better. Lets call it youthful ignorance and that I learned from it, now I know.
I used spacers with the other set of wheels I had on the last car and those came with extended lugs that fit just fine, I just didn't know any better and assumed I wouldn't need them.

Our site recommends you buy them and so do our staff, I just threw that in there to laugh at myself :/
Also we don't keep them at the warehouse here, they ship from our distributor and nobody in town had any available in the correct size.

  4. So my new wheels got here on Friday, which is also my first new set. Rohana RC10s wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

As soon as they arrived at the shop I threw the car on a lift to get them on, and was instantly heartbroken to find that the OEM lug bolts wouldn't work on the car because I couldn't get a socket around them in the holes. Unfortunately I won't be back in Appleton until April, so I'll just order some splined bolts and they will have to sit at the shop until then :(
Downpipes are going in soon but I won't be tuning the car for a while until this move is over, I'd hate to start having random stuff break while I'm traveling between Appleton and LaX so much.

    I'm stoked for car season.

i agree, rain dances and such, or the voodoo lady who squeezes the goat's testicles to bring good fortune. The garage stall for my E46 is currently occupied by building materials for some remodeling we are doing, so I've been parked outside for the past couple weeks. It's fucking miserable. I will say she starts like a champ even sitting for 3 days straight in 0 degree weather. No fuss at all.

But all I can think about is "damn i wonder how thick the 10w60 is resting in the oil pan of the M3 right now" especially since I don't have a heated garage.

also lars I agree you can probably deal with it for the rest of this season but I would definitely be looking into something for next winter.

That would be a fun experiment, I bet its real gooey.

Hopefully by next winter I'll have talked my wife into moving here permanently and I'll have the ol' CR-Z back to beat on.

Also its Day 3 of having a BOV and I still love it, pulls through gear 2-3 are so much more satisfying

  6. So I got the car to Appleton but haven't had to drive it much, just carpooling with my friend I'm staying with. Since I have access to the new shop to work on my car I figured I might as well start installing stuff so the first round of parts are finally in and working. Having a BOV on a turbo car is one of my childhood car fantasies, so that's really exciting to me. It definitely sucks in the snow but I shouldn't have to drive it much until I move, and by then it should hopefully be warm enough so I don't have to worry about it.

  7. Time for my monthly update I guess lol

Full time in Appleton now for FI at the new shop, any local guys should definitely come visit and I'll give you a tour! This gives me access to our brand new shop of course, so parts are going to start getting installed in the car starting tomorrow (thanks @suspenceful!). Unfortunately that also means I have to drive the car in the cold and snow, but a sacrifice had to be made somewhere. I might buy a beater E46 for a couple of months but realistically that's a waste of money unless I actually keep it.
Also finally got the cable to tune the car and read some codes after getting random limp mode again, but after clearing the initial set of codes nothing has come back yet, not sure what to make of that.

  8. Been a while, thought I'd throw an update out there.
Car has stayed in my possession and I have no plans of selling it anymore. The job in appleton is basically a done deal so I'll be spending 3/4 of my time out there come february.

As far as the car goes, I got Spence's old downpipes now for my first power mod and will be picking up wheels and tires sometime in the spring since I'm working for a wheel company now.
I am also dropping the car off at the BMW dealer this weekend so they can do both recalls, I started getting concerned about the car catching fire while parked 2 stories under me, so I think this is better. They're supposed to be giving me a rental I can abuse during the winter and I should have my car back sometime early to mid Februrary according to the guy that called me back to arrange everything.

Outside of that I'm going stir crazy not doing car things, so at least I'll have a chance to drive my car for a bit, even if its in the salt.

@KaiserRolls and I will have our OWN Eau Claire meets!

    I'd come up for this!

I'd love more excuses to get out and drive, and if I end up moving to Appleton hopefully I can make more of these. But driving 3 and a half hours to drive for an hour and then go home is a bit much to do often.

You are right, Looks like the Gumball Rally is a $100,000 entry fee. Im glad you posted it because its another automotive event to acknowledge. I first heard about the “Rally to Winnebago” quite a few years ago and its something im finally in a position to think about doing.

I look forward to hearing about the Tesla and seeing some cars. Let me know if you guys are meeting up around hwy 100 again like the time i saw you last year and I’d be glad to come say hello

There might be a group there again, not sure yet. The group you saw last year was a bunch of us immediately after getting the vinyls put on going to a birthday dinner for Alex. This year we're doing two different vinyl days at two locations in the state, one east and one west to make it easier for people (it was a 4 hour drive for me last year lol). So there's a chance that one group will be at endless autosport again.

I really think this rally is something people in here would enjoy. It's a real driving event that's managed extremely well and had great reviews across the board last year for a very cheap price compared to every other rally in our area.

$500 is two track days.  That's where my $500 will go.  Side note, isn't 270 miles kind of on the edge of the Model X range?  That should be interesting.

Yeah they're trying to get lunch at a super charging station haha

    $500

As was already mentioned, in the world of rallying $500 is a steal, even the founder of the crown rally spoke up for it when someone asked about the price. The rooms are standard suites at a resort, outside of that I don't have specifics since I'm not involved in the planning, I'd rather drive it.

I just figured someone would be interested, don't think of this as a sales pitch. It's going to be a blast and I just don't want you to let your wcec hate get in the way of a good time I guess.

How do you win first place

You get to the checkpoints as close to the time allotted as possible. When you arrive at a checkpoint they give you a card with directions, time, and distance, and the goal is to match the time exactly for maximum points, points are deducted for showing up early or late.

  13. I usually don't do this, but I would love to see more BMW's in next years rally so here we go.

You should all check out next years River Valley Road Rally and apply if its something that sounds interesting to you. I did this last year and my wife and I had an absolute blast (until my water pump exploded). The team has put tons of work into making next years rally bigger and better in every way, and I'm extremely excited to be a part of it again.
It will be 270 miles over 7 hours of driving awesome roads ending at an exclusive resort with after party and suite for the night included in the price.

I will be driving it again next year, but please ask me any questions you have if you are interested and I will check with the team directly.
Link is below, we already have a bunch of awesome cars lined up for next year, including a Tesla Model X and an Aventador, but I would really like more than just me in there representing BMW. This is also a great event to do with your significant other.

  14. Job situation is still undecided. I have something lined up in Appleton but my wife also lost her job in the same deal and already got a new one in LaCrosse. So we'll see how things line up, ideally we move to Appleton next February and she can work remote for the new company if things work out.

  15. So its been a while... Nothing really changed, got to meet the infamous Mr Spence in person to grab some parts off him and I bought a dual cone intake for the car last week, but haven't installed either because its too damn cold now. (I really need a garage)

Took the car on its final trip this weekend to hang out with some friends and its basically parked now unless I decide to go sliding in a parking lot during the first snow.

Oh and needless to say still have it and did not sell it, I just love it too much. I had it listed for $14k and every time someone messaged me about it the price went up to $15k. The car just suits me, not sure what would make me actually sell it.

I did make an instagram for the car to match the plates so I can catalog the build next year someplace besides this forum, I just have to remember to keep it updated now.
