  1. Just some pictures of the build along the way.

Freshened the head up with new valve seals, re-lapped and resurfaced.

ARP head studs, this was our first attempt. We are using the OEM BMW gasket now.

Motor is finally in the car!

Here you can see the manifold, turbo and downpipe fitment in the car.  -Thanks to our buddy Jeff on the awesome fab work on the downpipe\exhaust!

Squeezing in the intercooler, we were able to fit inlet and outlets under the headlight brackets (they did have to be trimmed slight). But this tucks up nicely for an almost stock like fitment.

Here you can see the downpipe my buddy Jeff fabbed up along with a flex coupler with vbands. It is 3" stainless all the way back. It does tuck nicely!

  2. Wanted to shout out @snap thanks to him our 2+ year turbo E30 project was able to make its first WOT pulls under boost today, and it felt amazing! His expertise and guidance are what kept our turbo dreams alive through our ups and downs.

Last spring while wrapping up our build we made an error and popped the motor, we then spent all fall and winter tearing down the motor. After ball honing the block, new-used pistons, rings, rod bearings we completed wrapping everything up this spring and worked on fixing all the little bugs. @snap was gracious enough to help us get the tune dialed in so we can finally drive the car and make some really nice WOT pulls which feel o-so-good.

    What a great day! 🍻

  3. Yep grooves are very clean, old rings fit without issue. I'm going to pick up a caliper today and report back.

I have to ask the annoying obvious question: did you scrape out the carbon deposits with a piece of broken old ring?

So the height of the ring too tall for the piston groove?

Do you have a caliper to measure the height of old ring vs the new goetze ring?

  4. In the process of putting our turbo m20 back together and I'm having issues with the scrapper ring on 3 of the Pistons. It seems the scrapper ring is to fat, has anyone had this issue with goetze rings?

  5. It isnt ideal, but boring it out and getting oversized pistons is not a budget-friendly situation.

I say run it for now and if it ends up it has a little to much oil consumption/blowby/too little compression then you can buy a used engine or build another one on the side and do everything right.

Yeah I think that is going to be the plan, slap it together and see what happens. Any opinions on ring gap?

  6. Replacing a piston that was damage (likely due to running lean) found this vertical scratch in the cylinder wall. I know it's not ideal, but interested in others thoughts. We have already honed the cylinder, I wouldn't say a fingernail catches but you can feel it.a8c31925caba488873f52c96e6d56df9.jpg

  7. Got my package today. Shirts are awesome but the iPhone 7 case is clear/see-through. This isn't specified on the website and the only options are for size (iphone 7 or 7+). My iPhone (like millions of others) is black so you cannot see the design at all. I assumed that the case was going to be a solid grayish color with the black print on it for the design.

How can I go about returning the iphone case?

Sorry about that, I'll get a full refund heading your way.

  8. The e30 cutaway is something I would definitely be into. I may be biased, but you should do a e36.5 (318ti) design down the line. There isn't much of anything for us compact guys

I'm open to doing a design for the 318ti, I'll let you know when I get something out there. Hoping I can squeeze something in the next 2 weeks or so.

  9. Here is a link to the sizing chart

    https://theshiftbox.com/pages/sizing-chart

do you have a sizing chart? I normally would get an XL because I assume things will shrink, and I don't like my shirts to turn into mediums because I also don't wear skinny jeans or flat brim caps, nor do I vape. In this case, I see your shirts advertise being pre-shrunk so I'm not sure if I should get a large or XL.
