Pat, you are a funny guy....(I already googled and checked pricing) I need a body guy first!! Dont want a lowered rust bucket...
-
Looking to find a reasonable body shop in the Madison area. Have some rust spots I want to get repaired: under kidney grills, below trunk latch and above the bumper, rear fender, and under the door sill trim. There are some other minor things too, but thats what I really need done. Any referrals are greatly appreciated

I would agree. I think the pentosin will work well.

Thanks! There does seem to be more of debate when it comes to tranny fluid. I am between mobil and redline at the moment for the diff.. What do you run in your non M diff wasnt m3? (i thought you had the 3 wagon too)
-
In my quest for diff and TC fluids, I found out a couple things.I am more or less looking for input on said fluids I plan on using, and any experience with them as well. I plan on using Pentosin MTF2 75w-80 GL4 in the trans(manual) and the TC. I understand some use redline ATF fluid for that, but after reading a post on E46fanatics, an oil analysis showed Pentosin to be closest to OE spec fluid and with the TC being all gear driven, it made sense to me.
The second part is the diff fluid. It seems Redline 75w-90 is the go to for this, but my old indy shop says he wouldn't.(They only use OE fluids from BMW). Zimbrick wants 22 bucks for half a qt.... seems excessive to me...I was going to use either redline, liquimoly, or Castrol syntrax. Any input on the matter is appreciated!

E92>E90.. and welcome! ha I agree, those trapezoid tailights are my least fav....oh wait, E60 takes that.

I just turned 30 yesterday, gf for 7 years, might as well be married. NO kids, but have a dog, chihuahua(yes that's a dog). Grew up riding/racing motocross, skateboarding when was I was little younger, and played soccer. Got into obstacle course running the last few years, and can get into almost anything that's outdoors. In a previous life was a service tech on automated doors/entry systems, but knew it wasn't for me long term. Been in real estate since '09 and it fits me well.Got my first BMW around 10 yrs ago( E36 323IS) thanks to a buddy who was into them before me. I think like most of us on here, the enjoyment of seeing work done, repair or upgrade, and having a better understanding on how/why something works is what intrigues me about vehicles in general. The never ending learning experience!

I will definitely keep you mind for outbound referrals East of the Madison area! I just liked your page too. I wanted to post something similar, but wasn't sure if it was a good idea.( I am new here and found the page through BMWs of Wisconsin ha)
I am at Stark Company Realtors out of the Sun Prairie office.

Just when you think they're done, a dozen more pull out...lol

Welcome! I am not far from you either in Sun Prairie.

I looked into purchasing a kit, but wasn't sure which one I needed. Price ranges from around 40 bucks to 300...I would imagine there is a certain dye needed for an oil leak, as opposed to an A/C leak...?

I am in Sun Prairie. I plan on taking it to an Indy near me next Wed. Might be worth driving out your way though..

So I noticed I am losing oil at a somewhat high rate(ballpark half a quart in less than 1k miles).I took a peak under the car over the weekend and noticed oil was covering a good majority of the under carriage.(made it hard to see where it was coming from) I took some pics, and my initial thought was oil pan gasket, but I am wondering if the oil filter housing could be the cause of this mess, so I tried to see the side of the block from the engine bay, and I do see some oil there as well. Lets just hope I dont need both... *vehicle is a 2003 330xi 135k
CCV and VCG have been done (dealer repaired right before I bought it)
FYI, I searched for a forum/thread on this but didnt see one, my apologizes if I missed it!

some how my phone didnt notify me of everyones posts! thanks for the greetings! wrenxhing party? im in! I know enough to be dangerous, but still very novice...I did work with Joe. To be honest, it was a a little messy, but he did what he could do to help. The shop that he had work on it when they acquired it must not have been BMW types...

I joined a few months ago, so i figured I would follow along with a new member introduction. I live in Sun Prairie and bought my E46 this past August. I bought it at Capital Motors in Eau Claire. It has had some repairs since I bought it(normal maintenance so far). Once I have more of those repairs done, I will start adding my personal touch. I look forward to valuable info from this group!
Which group/demographic should we ban from our roadways?(Poll)

geriatric...they are a combo of most of them. They think they are driving a semi and need more room than they really do, too slow on merge ramps(timid), they are as responsive as a drunk driver or texter, drive as slow as machinery, constant braking is almost as bad the school bus strobe...i could prolly go on... lol
