  1. I might be interested in having a few valances made. I like the e21 motorsport valance but there few and far between. There are a couple places that make copies, but I've heard the quality isn't that great.

What materials do you generally use to make the molds? If I built something like i wanted out of wood/foam/bondo would you be able to make a mold from it? How much does all this cost? I'd like one for myself, but I'm sure I could sell a couple too if the cost was within reason...

  2. Ad says he's selling because he's moving out east, otherwise it'd probably be sitting there for another 15 years.

"I planned to restore it myself so it comes with new fenders, emblems, and a carb kit." -riiiiight....

"...headers, and a 4-barrel carburetor... it goes like a rocket." -He means went like a rocket, and apparently is living under a rock because a Grand Caravan is probably faster in a straight line.

Anyway, if the ad is still up in a couple weeks I might take a look at it and offer him half what he's asking. It's a decent parts car.

  3. ...one of those peculiar well kept econo cars for sale in 15 years that you want purely because you are infatuated with its condition

I bought one of those about 2 years ago. Don't do it. Ever. Today there is a 4 or 5 foot long crease in the sheet metal on the passenger side (don't know how it got there), rust, damage on the drivers side from an unscheduled winter off-roading event, and the rear cargo area looks like a well-used truck bed, except greasier. The interiors current inventory includes things like an m42 swap parts (uncleaned), door shims (never know when you'll need a door shim or three) and my dirty work clothes on the passenger seat.

Unless you view your car as and art piece and treat it as such it's pretty hard to keep them in immaculate condition. I view my daily as a tool and treat it as such. I'd rather work with my tools than work on them. Granted, nobody wants to drive a POS every day...

  4. The wheels are Rikens. They were on my e21 when I bought it and they are e21 offset so they stick out a bit on the e30. So far they're the only set I've come across, but I haven't really been looking. They look good on both cars, but right now I like them better on the e30. They'd look better yet on snaps car, but I don't have any interest in the 17s. I would like to to find some 14" or 15" BBS RAs for the e21 though....

  5. Grey market would mean it is a euro model....you know that haha.see the euro bumpers and such? Some people think it is cool to have euro only interiors in their cars over here=) I also disagree that pleather is better than cloth. Cloth is easier to care for and isn't slippery when ripping around in corners

320/6 euro car is is rare and desirable, but that thing is just too far gone. The interior is cool as hell. I've never seen one like that. Even the carpet is a blue and white speckle, but judging from the rust on the e-brake and shifter and what looks like mold on the windshield, it's safe to say that there's extensive water damage to the interior. And under the hood.... yikes. The wheels look like 14"ers which are very rare. I'd like to have them. The wheels and the bumpers (if they're not too rusty...) together are probably worth $1000, so the price might not be too far out of line. Oh, and an e21 LSD goes for about $500.....

  6. I'm personally not a big fan of the M70, I suppose I've never been behind the wheel of one but you only get 20hp on the M60b40 and way worse mileage. Doesn't seem worth it to me but then again the torque figures are a bit different and it's kinda a unique engine so there is that as well. Definitely gets a down vote on reliability though, I've heard not good things about that engine on that point.

Yeah, it's probably not a good choice for a daily, but I'm still a little stunned that you can get such a high-end car in that condition for so little money.

  7. What the hell is in your airbox? 0_o

Insulation. Looks like the blown-in type as opposed to the stuff that comes in rolls. Also helicopter seeds. Probably from a Maple, although there are other trees that produce them as well (Box Elder for example...)

    Trunk carpet.. can haz??

PM if you're interested. Normally I'd give something like that away, but I have a heated shop space to pay for now, so $10.
  8. A heated shop in the dead of winter is the best thing ever.

    Sunroof? No thanks.

PITA? Yes. Does it make the car go faster? No.

The most phallic automotive accessory ever? Probably. Does it make the car go faster? No.

  9. Looking to do some work this winter but don't have any room where I'm at. Anyone got some extra shop space they'd be willing to rent out?

I've looked a little bit on craigslist but all of the spaces that I've seen are way bigger than what I need and cost more than what I want to spend. If there's anyone else that's looking for space and wants to split the cost let me know. I might also consider buying if I found something cheap, but that's kind of a long shot.

Basically I need 4 walls, a roof, concrete floor and electrical. 600 square feet would be luxurious compared to what I'm used to dealing with.

    Any leads?
