Pvegas, I like that !
The goal is to be drive able by June 20th I'd like to take it to the MAP proving grounds in brainerd. We'll see how the rust affects that timeline.
I'll be investing in a welder, an air compressor, and some air tools soon

This thread excites me
You said you were going to do an M20 swap right? Are you going to use a carb!?!?!?
Despite the rust so am I.
I am doing an M20 swap, plus a turbo! even though I have the carb intake and the original solex 4 barrel plus an adaptor plate and holly 4 barrel the plan is to go EFI.
Unless in a sleep deprived state after hours of cutting out rust I change my mind and go with set of webers ... because they're sexy and I dont care if they don't make 300whp.
Currently an m20b20 block, we'll see how far I decide to bore it out.
Ill have pictures of the block itself in a couple weeks when I get it out of storage.

I know right! Drove to Milwaukee to get that, 250 bucks for trans, trans mount and motor mounts... It's going to be the nicest thing about the whole car.

Well Freyja finally got into the shop today so I put her on jackstands to snap some pictures.
After getting a look at the floor the first order of business is to strip the carpet to see how bad the holes are.
The motor and trans will happen between the rust repair and I'll keep updating as I make progress to stay motivated.
Without further adieu, pictures.

Half done on driver side. Someone come do my body work, and I will build you an engine!
I think we could arrange something. You'll have to come out to the shop and see the e21 after take everything out.

Drove it down over the weekend... I need to get rid of this 4 speed trans! 5 hours at 4k rpm is just weird.
Platteville members keep your eyes peeled for her around town

I'll support the wagon mafia... (from the subaru side at least)
Can't wait to see some pictures

How much did you snag this for? Looks very clean!!
2500
Welcome man!! Nice to see another e21 owner around here for a change. Yours looks very clean and straight, nice find. As Snap said, I do have an e21 that I am doing quite a bit of work to myself and definitely know these cars from front to back. Would love to talk more and stuff too.
Snap, that is a BBS or Hartge (always mix those two up) front spoiler, not an 320is (sport package) spoiler. Very well could be a sport package tho. They came from the factory with an "is" front spoiler, recaro's, 3 spoke steering wheel, basketweaves, and an LSD.
I'll deffinetely be in touch once I start pulling things apart. I'm very new to the BMW world so this should be an exciting project.
That is a BBS front spoiler, and it is not a factory sports package sadly it and the wheels wont be coming with the car, but that's ok.
The car is pretty clean and straight, all the emissions garbage has been removed from the engine bay.
Replacing bushings and coilovers is my first priority

Thanks,
I work on campus, and I live downtown on main street.
Glad to know there are other more car folks in town.

Hi,
My name is Ben,
I just picked up a 1978 e21 that I have been eyeballing for months to build into a daily/autoX car, hopefully take some wear and tear off of my subaru.
It has a mechanically fuel injected m10 motor under the hood in the pile of parts I also have an m20 which I'm debating on slapping a EFI and a turbo or a couple weber carbs.
Here are a couple pictures from the first time I saw it in the fall. Sadly I don't get the nice wheels, but I'll come up with something before spring hits.
Hope to get in touch with some other South West Wisconsin members.

Just got done hanging out in the shop with John and Mike (I'm awful with names but I think that's right) talking through possibilities and the challenges of rust...
Here are some links to the strange influences for the car right now
Now before you rage quit whilst screaming "THOSEARENTBMWS" keep in mind that my first car was a Camaro and my last two cars were Subarus. So I've got this American muscle, Japanese import bent, and now I have a BMW. So it seems natural to me to blend euro, import, and muscle together.
More importantly, the wheels off the Z, the interior from that martini mustang, and crazy inline six feeding straight pipes that dump in front of the rear wheels...
